In the mission John Marston and Son, Jack talks about a book he's reading, set in the wild west and it has a character who hunts down the man who killed his father.

The story of a hundred western films or novels....

 

I think it's deliberate, to show the folly in such a story, and the inevitability of it.

 

Also there's an irony in it:

 

by sacrificing himself at the end, John dooms his son to a life he's tried to keep him from

Got my Honor to Desperado. I went to Pacific Union RR. I was just messing around when it started raining. God, the view was breathtaking. The lightning and the trees in the distance. Damn, it was really something.

 

Afterwards I was riding to Armadillo from Benedict Point. I encountered that event where a woman asks for help and then robbers suddenly try to rob you. I did what I always did. Killed the robbers and hogtied the woman.

 

I took her to Critchley's Ranch and freed her. I was gonna put a bullet in her back but I watched her run up to the house. She went up to the porch and sat down. I couldn't properly see what she was doing and when I went near her, she was washing clothes.

Question about Undead Nightmare:

 

I haven't been much through RDR's storyline, most of the time I just free roam with my horse and do side missions. I'm afraid that if I'll start Undead Nightmare now, its storyline will spoil me the plot of the basic Red Dead Redemption. Is it gonna be like that?

i actually think this game is quite overrated (please don't bash me lol) i mean its a very good game but it has the same type of hype and invincibly about it that san andreas has in where it just cant do no wrong and people seem to look past all its flaws. unlike Say a fantastic game like Gta Iv which is always bashed for its floors. either way i still enjoyed it. 8/10

You probably should finish the story before moving on to UN. It takes place near the original story's end so something might get spoiled. And seriously, what the hell are you doing? This game has an amazing story. You should finish it. Go finish it right now.

Alright with that over and done with I'd like to address a few of the things that you've said in your post. Firstly you say that the game runs entirely off of its own hype and that's simply not the case, the game runs off of its own awesomeness and that's pretty much the only reason people flocked to the stores in hoards to buy the game.

 

Secondly, you say that people fail to mention any of the game's flaws, which would be usually be fine, the issue here being that you seem to either have forgotten or simply not bothered to mention what these apparent flaws that you've found in the game. This is why I will ridicule your opinion, simply because you have no evidence to support the claims you're making, of course no game's perfect but that simply leads on to my next point.

 

Thirdly, after of course saying that the game is good but the vast majority of the gaming audience haven't paid proper attention to the game's flaws (which once again, you failed to mention any of) you proceed to compare it to Grand Theft Auto IV. You call Grand Theft Auto IV a fantastic game that people "bash" for its flaws, yet the fact remains Grand Theft Auto IV has a large number of flaws, flaws that were addressed in Red Dead Redemption and from where I'm standing it almost seems like you're arguing that Grand Theft Auto IV is the better game (technically of course) out of the two when it's simply not the case.

 

In future if you're going to bother writing down your thoughts and views on a game that you play please give ample proof that you've actually gone ahead and played it, furthermore don't do it a disservice and compare it to a game of a much lower caliber like Grand Theft Auto SanAndreas, regardless of what you think drove Red Dead Redemption to be popular I can tell you for a fact that it wasn't false hype that made the game out to be something more then it was/is.

 

Oh and please, please try to structure your posts so that in future people of English decent can actually understand the point that you're trying to convey. Seriously man, I'm not much of a "Grammar Nazi" but your post is rather pathetic in both the point that it's making and the context in which it's portrayed, try harder next time before attempt to criticise a game of this scale and scope.

relax man lol little be sensitive to other people opinions are we? i was just saying my opinion people do tend to overate IMO get over it and i said i still thought it was a great game so...... and i just type for quickness not to impress people with my grammar. as long as you can understand me its all good. and Yes i do think Gta iv is a far better game but again that's just me neither was it my point. and i also disagree with San Andreas being a lower caliber game but that's your opinion so im gonna respect that and not get all angry and start insulting you over it. (like you seem to do) get over yourself.

Get the GOTY Edition, it adds a lot of wonderful content, especially for online.

I'm getting the game from Wal-Mart, but when I check online and check my store it says out of stock. I don't know how accurate the website is, but in the past I have come across games that said it wasn't in stock, but when I go to the store it was there. I don't think they update the site that often. I hope I don't waste a trip tomorrow.
