Yes, in my opinion. You also get all the updates/DLCs with it, obviously. I honestly can't go back to normal after playing on Hardcore, it's just too easy and boring.

If you don't mind me asking, what exactly is hardcore mode. Is it anyway similar to the Fallout: New Vegas hardcore mode in which you need to eat, sleep and drink at a reasonable rate to stay in good shape and not end up half dead alone in the desert with no hope of survival ?.

I'm playing on Hardcore mode and honestly - it's not a typical hardcore mode, like in Fallout: New Vegas. First of all, there's no such thing as the need for food, drink and sleep. The main attempt of this difficulity is to make the game harder than on Hard mode: prices at shops are higher, you get killed faster, Dead Eye meter refills very slowly, no auto aim enabled, etc.

 

I don't know how it compares to the other modes, because Hardcore is the only I've played. But the game seems quite difficult and sometimes it even requires some thinking from me, otherwise I end up dead. And I end up dead pretty often. I like it.

I really liked Hardcore mode. I play on it all the time instead of Normal. Honestly, it's one of the reasons I bought the GOTY Edition and sold my normal one. Plus it satisfies my compulsion to own the complete edition all on one disc. It feels different from Normal though. Getting into gun fights really is dangerous. Those times when everyone in the bar pulls their gun out on you, yeah you're not f*cking around anymore. You will die.

 

Also, buying things like the War Horse, or anything else expensive really whittles away your cash - and makes it much more satisfying to earn.

Last night I was playing Red Dead with a friend on the Xbox 360 and I went to see my unlocks in the Outfitter. I changed my character from one of the US Marshalls to a Lawmen by accident and for some reason the "US Marshalls" option has disappeared from the Outfitter menu. I asked my friend in the Party if he could see a "US Marshalls" option in the menu and he confirmed that he didn't have it either.

 

I'm level 17 now and I think my friend was around level 23. I'm using the disk and I haven't got it installed on my hard-drive.

I'm still doing my thorough, 2nd play-through. I'm currently in the process of making cementing this game in my top 5 favourite games of all time. I'm doing all the challenges this time round. They're not as hard/tedious as I remember. I'm on level 7 for one of the challenges and the next one up requires I have Tall Trees area unlocked. I haven't even unlocked Mexico yet. So, I'll do all I can before the side missions/challenges need me to go to new parts of the map. Loving it!

Didn't Red Dead Redemption cost a lot of money to produce? It took a really long time for them to develop it and everything, they didn't expect it to do well either and didn't expect to make a large profit. I heard that the team in San Diego that developed it disbanded after they were done with RDR. There's also the fact that they were using an engine and specific tools for the consoles, on top of that, GTA IV was an example that a port would be a bad idea. Also, San Diego never ports their games. I think they've only ported one game to the PC, and that was years and years ago.

 

As much as I would love to play through it again on the PC, I don't think we're ever getting a port.

Man, this game was fantastic. Cant believe its nearly been 3 years since I played RDR. Listening to the soundtrack really leaves me Nostalgic. May give RDR another play through this summer.

Same here. Gang matches or co-op missions are empty. And the free roam has about 8-10 people just riding around.

I started another single player game. RDR is great. If GTA V has such beautiful wilderness I'd be happy. With many random encounters.

I am kind of disappointed there is no PC version to this game. I don't think I would stop playing it.

 

 

Also surprised at what people are saying about how no one is on anymore. I remember it would be hard to join a CO-OP game without it taking more than ten seconds for someone to join. Seriously hope this game isn't dying .

 

I think for the time I had it, I got it 100% complete twice, and did the story around three times. Very fun, and addicting.
