Rockstar only published L.A. Noire and gave some pointers on the open-world aspect. They didn't really do much.

Red Dead Redemption wasn't that long ago, and we just got Max Payne 3. If anything we're due for a new Bully or Manhunt title.

Red Dead was nearly three years ago mate, and Max Payne three's nearly a year old too. Hell, within four months GTA V will be on the shelves.

So yeah, I'd say that we're due for a new RDR game, maybe an announcement next year and release in May 2015.

So yeah, I'd say that we're due for a new RDR game, maybe an announcement next year and release in May 2015.

Then what game would come out in 2014? If you look at their release pattern, they've had at least one game come out every year.

Grand Theft Auto IV 2008

Midnight Club: Los Angeles 2008

Midnight Club: L.A. Remix 2008

Grand Theft Auto IV: The Lost and Damned 2009

Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars 2009

Beaterator 2009

Grand Theft Auto: The Ballad of Gay Tony 2009

Grand Theft Auto: Episodes from Liberty City 2009

Red Dead Redemption 2010

Red Dead Redemption: Undead Nightmare 2010

L.A. Noire 2011

Max Payne 3 2012

Grand Theft Auto V 2013

Something must come out in 2014, whether it's a large add on to GTA V, a smaller game that doesn't have a huge fan base (Beaterator for example), or another AAA game (like RDR).

I don't know if Max Payne 3 was a AAA game, but if it was, it proves that a AAA game can come out 3 times in a row, in a 3 year period.

I think the fan base will cause R* to make games that have largely desired sequels more often, like RDR, which was enjoyed as much as GTA, if not more by some people. I think they learned their lesson with MP3 in some ways: you can't shove games down people's throats. It was highly rated, but it didn't sell nearly as many copies as RDR or GTA. I'm not saying that they should make the releases annual like Call of Duty, but they shouldn't have a GTA every 4-5 years. Something more like 3 years would be better. L.A. Noire was a great game too. What they could do is have alternating releases, like GTA, then RDR, then L.A. Noire, repeat. R* does the best open world games in my opinion, and most other people's opinion, so that's what they should stick to. They could probably place some smaller, new games in between those releases. Such as portable games, or maybe try some newer games that they haven't done before, but with a smaller development team, and without interfering with their primary franchises. L.A. Noire and RDR were kind of like the two games they haven't really done before, and both turned out to be successful. If the same thing happens in this case, they could increase the budget for their sequels, and give them higher priority.

That's my view.

That may be the case, but R* have many, many other priorities during the following year. Take a look at 2009 for a good example.

Grand Theft Auto IV: The Lost and Damned   2009

Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars    2009

Beaterator   2009

Grand Theft Auto: The Ballad of Gay Tony   2009

Grand Theft Auto: Episodes from Liberty City   2009

Notice that everything, well everything apart from one game's focused on the Grand Theft Auto franchise, and with the predicted sales for GTA V (somewhere in the twenty to thirty million range) then it's extremely likely that R*'s entire focus will be pushing GTA V to its absolute limit.

Red Dead's sequel will most likely only appear (if it appears at all in this GTA centered year) at the end of year, perhaps with an announcement at Spike's VGA awards leaving perhaps a six to seven month gap between the announcement and the release of the main game.

There's no doubt in my mind however that it'd be incredible if Red Dead was even mentioned in 2014 as it seems to me that R* would want to sell off and push GTA V as far as it can physically go. The expansions and DLC's of GTA IV and RDR sold a great amount of copies and R* knows that even now there's hype for what may be added in up coming expansions to the game.

And with the amount that they focused on Max Payne 3 and Red Dead (both series being much, much smaller then Grand Theft Auto) there's absolutely no chance that GTA V's push won't last at the very least eight to nine months after its initial release.

I've just fallen in love with RDR again. First time I got it release day. Sat around drinking rum with my mates playing it. Got too excited and drank more faster. Eventually got too drunk to play. sad.gif I don't like that it came out in May. Well, I did because it was released on my Birthday but the fact that it was coming in to summer, I wasn't really pushed on playing games indoors. I love sitting in on darkt, cold and wet days to play games.

Anyway, watched Django Unchained. If there's ever a film that would make you want to go back and replay RDR, it's that film. f*cking hell.

So, I'm playing RDR with a different appraoch. Originally, the game didn't live up to the hype I created for it. Something was missing. I know its not the game and I keep reading how many people think it's a masterpiece and I can see it but not feel it, if that makes sense. This time feels different. I think I just got RDR at the wrong time. My ex, who bought it for me for my Birthday was eventually nagging me as I was being sort of neglectful to her given my parents were away and I really just wanted to game but she was hanging around.

Now, there's no nag (she's great, really) and I can relax and get baked and enjoy this game for all it's worth.

Thanks Rockstar. You da best, yo. icon14.gif

Too right, I said exactly the same this weekend. We ended up mostly playing Liar's Dice and poker, which was great fun too. I love seeing it raining or changing time of day outside the window as you play. inlove.gif

I had to play it again about a month ago after tuning into Encore Westerns, a channel available to DirectTV, and I watched a couple of Gunsmoke episodes AND Navajo Joe.

Speaking of Django, did the first city remind anyone else of Armadillo? And the snowy mountains, Tall Trees?

For some reason, Blackwater gives me that "local Chicago TV channel" vibe. If you go to Chicago, the local channels will be filled with only shows about model trains and pioneer times. But man did I love them as a kid. Here are some examples...

Maybe one, because that's as freaky as it needs to be... Well, that's Chicago TV in a nutshell...

Blackwater gives me that vibe, also with music like...

I JUST DON'T KNOW!

Ok, as my second play through, it's waaay more enjoyable. There's so many little things I missed first time, probably because I was drunk when I first played it and I missed the tips. I actually didn't know you can surrender to the law haha. This time round, I'm taking my time. I'm hunting a lot, playing poker and bounty hunting. I only just unlocked the lasso and I have $700 which isn't the worst. I'm going to try knock a few challenges out too while there's not much there.

As for random encounters. Well, I thought they were cool but I just seen the best one. Guy killing his wife and then topping himself with a gun to the head

I was playing Liar's Dice in Thieve's Landing and I was playing with a rancher and an African-American man. When I betted some dice, the African-American man called a bluff on me. He said, "You're lying like a pie" or something like that, but he said pie!

Anyways, his voice sounded so much like Franklin from GTAV, and I mean he sounds like him! I think R* used the same actor, I don't know?

He doesn't kill his wife, or at least you don't see him kill her. It's also impossible to prevent him from killing himself by shooting the gun out of his hand. I think there is another one, where he drinks a bottle of poison instead of shooting himself.

there is indeed. Sad moments, and worse still that you can not prevent either death

It'd be nice to be able to save the woman

I've also notied a man on a horse, and a man on the ground, the former shooting the latter. I shot the gunman- bad karma. Next time i helped him out - bad karma. I guess it's just an argument you're supposed to stay out of....

Funniest i saw was the dynamite guys..... then the dynamite randomly exploded!

Jamie: Yeah it was late when I posted that. My interpretation was he killed her before taking his own life. But you are right, you don't see him do it.

Yes, I seem that one too in the same session last night, Mokrie. The guy shot another man. Well it looked like it but there were no woulds on the guy on the ground and he just lay there dying. It was a very strange moment.

I've turn off the map as well. Although I mainly know how to navigate around that map there are tricky to get to spots because you have to backtrack a little to get to them. I also thought seeing the blue blips for random encounters/strangers took away from the immersion. I never thought it was very random or surprising because it showed me an icon letting me know, this is supposed to happen. Here's something we made earlier. I'm playing now like the old GTAs were I'd have to look at the main menu map and sort of plan where I'm going. Looking for landmarks and its much better. I'll know the map better now than relying on the red magical gps path finder.

Same with me. I've actually seen the same movies as you. And I also have yet to see Django Unchained. It looks promising.

Miami, Zancudo, I was a little sceptical about the film before I seen it and man, it's fantastic. Highly entertaining with the right amount of clever dialogue, over-the-top violence that looks like something you'd see in Red Dead, when it comes to blood-spray and splatter. There's some fantastic horse scenes in it too.

Even my mate that doesn't like RDR that much was like, dayum, I wanna play that game now.
