From my different readings, I understand that PC gamers want RDR because of the possibilities of pushing the game's visuals to another step using fan-made modifications, similar to that of GTA IV, especially since the game is already looking phenomenal on PS3 and Xbox 360. Assuming modders can apply iCEnhancer-like visuals into RDR, it's going to be unimaginable how the natural landscapes will look like combined with the soft lightning from the sun. If that's really the reason, then you will get similar landscapes in GTA V, maybe bigger and more refined. It's definitely coming to PC.

No, we want the game so that we could play it. I love westerns and not having RDR on PC makes me very sad. Modding is a big part of PC gaming, but people primarily want games so they can play them.

After 6 months of savoured, non-rushed gameplay, I finally completed this Legendary adventure, gaining 100% completion for the first time in a R* title, and at the closing of the credits no less.

102 hours, $115000, 1000 wolves, Hero, Legend.

I'm very optimistic about V right now.

Wow, all this time playing the game I never knew this. If you have a bounty, and your turn in a criminal after doing a bounty hunter mission, the reward will go towards your bounty instead of you being paid.

I did the DeSanto train escort from start to finish without failing! YEAH!

I had my game glitch more then once, I came off a poker game and all my radar HUD showed was the map, I went to do the Stranger mission with Jimmy, the Writer from back out East? He winds up hog tied in known gang locations before he's off to better climes .... Well, I got to where he was and he wasn't tied, but he said the same lines while standing in one place, so I hogtied him and escorted him down off the roof, Untied him and he ran away, presumably, but I wound up having to do it again

If you get into something where the game is losing response, Summon the game SAVE menu screen and resume from the last AUTO SAVE point, that way you don't lose as much data from what you were able to do prior.

@Fullmetal, It's someone I contacted via PM, asking him about the project, I just forget their name, I'll post it again when I see where that discussion was. I'm lazy as well!

As for the bounty mention, is that POS or NEG crediting?

Nicely done. What did you do after the credits? Perhaps a victory ride back to Beecher's Hope?

Am I the only one who enjoys making lots of money by killing and skinning bears (and other West Elizabeth-based animals) and selling them in Mexico? You can get a lot of cash that way.

I like shooting them more then skinning them, but replaying it, I have to hunt Cougars with a melee weapon, how fun and easy is that??!!

A like minded Gentleman cool.gif How much money have you made in total? I was seriously considering trying for $1000000 at one point, then realized it would take over 60 full loads of bear products sold down South! If only I could always get 60 of them to charge me within 10 minutes like I did at one point... Hunter's Heaven.

Edit: Double post oops!

What's the deal with random people shooting you in Thieves Landing? Ever since I first went there and shot the guy in the dual challenge, I noted some peeps there (PEDS) take some violent exception to you. I never really provoke anything, so have you noticed the same?

Also a funny story, the other night, I musta played one poker AI guy for an hour or two because he was THAT hard to beat!! I was hoping for a quick round, but that only happens in Liar's Dice!

people shooting in thieves landing might have something to do with your outfit, i heard that wearing marshal outfit, gentleman, bureau uniform can cause people shooting at you mercie_blink.gif

Well, almost every time I play poker it takes at least 30 minutes or so to finish the game. Though an hour or two is pretty long time since 50 minutes is probably the longest time I have been in a poker game, but then again I always quit the game if the other players are taking it safe and the bets are low. In my opinion the poker games at Blackwater are most fun and the reward is also higher so it makes more sense to spend more time playing. Liars Dice is always fun, but the AI is pretty stupid most of the time. Or the characters are.

as jackal said your outfit can cause you to get shot.

Also if you've got good Karma/morality (whatever its called) they may dislike you too.

I think

I'd played as a bad guy - with the dark horse - and they still shot at me, with me wearing the duster so I dunno how true that is ....

Just finished playing it through again, what a fantastic game.

I had a bit of fun, Jack was wandering around Beecher's Hope, obviously you can't shoot him or anything, so I started throwing knives toward him, I was chasing him for ages knocking him over and throwing knives at him, at one point he had at least 8 knives sticking out of him as I was chasing him about and knocking him over, it was quite amusing.

try it with firebottles, aim just next to his feet and watch him burn

Hehe, will try that next time, I didn't have any on me at the time, although I did throw some dynamite at him also. The little bastard just doesn't die!

Was in a posse doing that with someone in Multiplayer, probably a similar game mechanic at work

(glitches or similar)

In GTA San An Vol #1, I attempted to kill one of the women you date, see how it messes up normal game play, you got her shooting back at you IIRC

Well, to note, there is a RDR forum set aside for both GTAF and TheGTAPlace, however, I don't have much to say that hasn't already been said, but I did mention my online GOLD XBL daze were spent mid-through the game, and rather then complete the main story, I just got to seeing Dutch's demise and moving back to farm life for John. At that point even, there seemed no rush after all the struggle he'd faced to get his family back, you really are immersed, even in the MP segment of gameplay, I recall very fondly all the time spent on just THAT!

Any tricks or tips on getting a short game of Blackjack, as needed to unlock outfits? I got tiredsome bored with it, and it went on and on and on it seemed, I quit before the game ended. I also was not sure how you win the requirement for Arm Wrestling, though I did figure out the process

finally I've started Red dead redemption... the first time i was bored after a couple of hours, i hope this time my experience will be longer

I have two problems

1) if i do a crime, someone comes after me, and i have the option to kill them (but my "debts" with the society will increase), escape, be arrested or pay my debts. Today i was sourrounded by two-three men, so i used the Dead-eye to wipe them out... and after that not only the "WANTED" signal was gone, but my "debt" with the society (around 130 buck) was nowhere to be found, even in the main menu... so, if i kill all my "followers" biggrin.gif , all my crimes are cancelled?

2) about dead eye: in the first missions (and outside missions) it works this way

active dead eye- world goes brown/gold and time slows down - i manually aim to ONE enemy -shoot - aim to the next -shoot -aim to a third man -shoot - dead eye deactivated, world in real time,

after one mission (don't remember the name, the one where you sell fake medical potions and someone challenge you to hit his hat in mid-air) and until now, the dead eye works this way:

Dead eye activated, world goes brown/gold in slow-mo - now, i manually move the gun sight (i hope this is the correct name, i mean the "white dot" that you use to aim) - when I move it on someone a red cross appears on EVERY MAN (enemy and innocent people) -when i've finished to target everyone with a red cross, i can shoot - then, dead eye goes off by itself

i cant' use this second system, I often kill innocent people (since i have to AIM manually to my enemy, if the "white dot" aim to an innocent man, a civilian or an horse, they will be marked with a red cross and shoot as well as an enemy). So how can i go back to the first system?

You killed the witnesses before they could report your crime. Oh, and you can holster your weapon and stand still near law enforcement and they will arrest you. You'll spend a few days in jail and lose no money or additional honor.

i thought you did lose money.

I ran out of money and as a result of which, upon release, i was forced to do a bounty mission to repay my debt.

thatstupidbug, re deadeye. There are three systems. you are using the 2nd one now. you can't go back to the first, so keep doing missions and you'll get to the 3rd system, where you can choose where you put the Xs. With the 2nd system, probably the easiest way to avoid shooting civs is to start deadeye, target a few baddies, disengage deadeye-->SHOOT, then move your targetting to a new area of bandits and go back into deadeye.

finally, my experience with this game is over, i've beat the last mission and i can only say one thing:

what a waste of time!!!

it's not a bad game, it has a lot of atmosphere, the setting is great and the story is well written... but overall, he lacks variety. Missions are predictables, it's ALWAYS a long ride/walk followed by a gun fight, and doing this 5,10,20 times it's annoying... i know that even GTA has the same formula, but a chase, for example, can involve fast cars, trucks, bikes, boats, helicopters; in RDR you have only an horse, and the whole thing became boring fast.

overall, my experience wasn't that bad... sure, i have found bad bugs/glitches (even in cut-scenes), some unexpected plot holes and a lot of boring missions (damn you, Mcfarlane's ranch!!! biggrin.gif ), but it was an interesting journey into the wast... until it was all ruined by the end.

I will not talk about the plot of the ending... i personally don't like the excessive mature tone and bad endings, but that's not the main problem. the REAL problem is how the whole endings was made.

you kill dutch (in a boring mission, since the "final battle" consist of 3 shoots and a chase in a cave) and then you return to home when the game shows you the "simple new life" of john marston. the problem? the whole things is an anti-climax at his best.. .kill bears, kill bunnies, kill birds, capture horses, buy some cows, deliver some food: what R* was thinking??? I know, their goal was to create some connection with Marston's family, but 8 mission about nothing is not funny to play, is's a pain in the a**. The major problem about this section of the game is that it was also bad wrtitten: when a character says "i promise, nothing will go wrong, we will forget the past" in every mission, you know how it will end, so doing all this boring jobs is even worse, since now you know that the whole part is a big, long filler before the proper ending.

the game became good again with the last mission and the death of john, but all that wasted time before was terrible... and that's not even the real ending! no, the real final mission is a STUPID "stranger" job,. I know, i know, now i'm starting to looks like a zee-wannabe, but i still can't belive that the real ending is related to a STUPID (again) "stranger" job, when you have nothing to do than ride to two-three different locations, and then find Edward ross and beat him in a STPUID duel!!!! Zero pathos, zero difficulty, zero emotion (since ross was not the powerfull man he was, but simply an old idiot), two shots and the game is done. can i say that this SUCKS???

Overall, a great settings, a good but repetitive gameplay, an interesting storyline and a bad bad bad ending = a great waste of time.
