Just finally finished the storyline myself and without saying to much.....

 

After the final mission i thought there was defo going to be a third Red Dead carrying straight over from this game with Jack getting revenge for the death of his father but then you get that extra stranger mission at the end.

 

I think i only need to unlock two more outfits and then i've done 100% as well.

Beat the story with 90% game completion and now just got 100% last nite.

 

So now its time for some online just hope it isnt so douchie like every one is saying.

The glitch in the video?

The fact that you get to play as Jack Marston. I did not know this.

It's just a cheat

 

yeah it is a cheat you can use anytime in the game, but once you beat the game you have to play as Jack due to John dying.

Yeah I need this too and in general how do you find the treasure from the maps?  It looks like it's just a picture,  how are you supposed to find that location?

The first treasure map I got was not difficult. It was a drawing of Hanging Rock, which I'd been to several times in various missions, bounties, and other happenings. I recognized it right away. If I hadn't, the drawing of the noose and the rocks could have been a clue to the name of the location which can be found on the main map. That's the only treasure I've gone after so far but if they're all that easy I might not have to resort to cheating.

Hey thanks for that, and all your and others help. That Rockstar site really needs some help though, it says I have done no stranger missions, but also says I have the achievement for doing 15 stranger missions. Also it says I haven't finished the game when I have. Oh well, it's great that it shows the last place I am missing for locating all the places, I found the one in Elizabeth.

 

How do you do the 5 finger fillet or whatever it is and how do you do the arm wrestling? It certainly isn't like the one from GTA.The arm wrestling I mean.

Social Club has always had some issues syncing in time, I have 90-something percent on the game, and it says I only have 20.

Just got the game for 360, lots of fun. Anyone have tips for making good amounts of cash?

 

One pet peeve is that the game is alsightly off center, so I can barely read the text at the bottom

Hunt wolves, sell pelts, get rich.

Hunt anything, really. $3-$6 for a bird feather and you pluck anywhere from 1-5 feathers. Wolf packs make you a ton of money, just kill everything you see and skin it - you'll have tons of money.

In SP: Can you keep calling your horse after it's killed like in MP???

Because if you can, you could just call your horse, kill it, skin it and repeat the process.

If it actually works it would be a quick and extremely easy way to make money.

My thoughts on the ending...

 

It was heartbreaking. Yet in a oddly good way. Anyone who's finished the story will probably understand why the first two things I did after killing Ross (And then firing 50 or so shots on his dead body just for pleasure) was killing & skinning a grizzly and then check on the graves of John, Abigail and Uncle

 

And I watched the whole credit list too. Always do that when finishing a game I enjoy.

You can call another but there is a delay compared to that in MP where a new one appears straight away. You'll get better money for skinning other animals anyway, buffalo, deer, bears, etc.

what's all this talk of an alternate ending? I'm reading up on people saying that it's possible to dead-eye everyone and kill them, something to do with messing around with cheats, and apparently John just walks forward and says "it's over" or something of the like, the credits roll, and then it shows Jack standing at the graves of Abigail and John (a la the original ending), but it appears John and Abigail both died in 1914. I'm not sure what to make of it as it seems near impossible to finish that last stand-off.

At first, I struggled with the treasure maps, but after a while it clicks as to what they are.

I have 7 I think and the only one I really struggled with was the 2nd one I think, the rest i've found without help.

 

Usually the map identifies a location in the game, so if you keep the image of the map fresh in your memory you usually find the location by accident while riding around.

 

It's actually fun riding around hunting for treasure

there are a few that are easy but most of them are hard. personally i didnt have the patience to not cheat and watch Acheivement Hunter show them all.

I was very surprised by the end as well..

I'm also surprised every time R* releases a game like this, so much attention went into details.

For example, last night I was playing, some dude on a horse passed me by, and suddenly he stopped, jumped from his horse and started running into the bushbush. I was like, wtf? So I went after him. He ran to the nearest tree, and started pissing. I laughed my ass off.

Agree. I actually had most trouble finding the first one but I had hoped that they would become somewhat harder to find.

I started playing liar's dice earlier and it's very addictive. I have yet to win but it's fun. Horseshoes is also good, but when i place my bet high enough to make it interesting it becomes impossible.

Liar's Dice is so piss easy. Too bad you can only bet $20 except for that one Stranger mission

I never said it's hard haha i'm usually in a better position at the start sometimes having all my dices while the other guy has 1-2, but then i mess up. But yeah, i'm just getting the hang of it.

I'm crawling through this game so slowly, and just exploring/helping people etc. This game is so amazing and just keeps getting better for me. I keep telling myself I'll turn it off in a few minutes but something grabs my attention and I just can't leave! Honestly best game I have ever played... and I've barely progressed into the story yet. Briefly went on MP last night to check it out but not much was going on, but it seems like it'll be really awesome when I get into it.

 

And I haven't seen any real glitches yet either, some people seem to get a lot more than others. PS3 here btw.

Playing this game without the radar/map is ridiculous. Just got into blackwater and played a few missions... I felt lucky just finding my room in the saloon.
