Like I said, I wouldn't be surprised if the 360 version was slightly better (a lot of multiplats are), but I hardly think it's reason for worry. All that article mentions is a slightly lower resolution, nothing about major game flaws or technical problems.

 

I really don't think it's anything to lose sleep over.

My cousin just got it today for his PS3 and I got to play it a couple hours ago, it's great, graphics are amazing.

 

The gameplay is just killer.

Might be a nub question. But can you hijack a train like on GTA SA? Been wanting to derail one but can't take it over. When I shoot the engineer the train just stops.

 

For the sake of how far I've gotten, like 5 missions. Just picked it up to kill some time...

Anyone got it on PS3? I've heard the ps3 version looks awful, has low frame rates, lod pop-in issues etc.? Bit worried as its the version I'm getting

 

Oh and I believe the street date has been broken at some stores in Australia!!!

Think about it.

PS3 has blueray technology which allows for a much bigger game/movies.

The disc can hold more data, more so then the 360.

I owned both consoles and IMO PS3 is much, much better.

And I like both, no fanboyism from me.

Err the blu-ray thing really has nothing to do with it for multi platform games like RDR, its actually the hardware differences between consoles that result in the slight difference in visuals. Differences that going by that article aren't major and hardly deal-breaking so err don't get all defensive over the PS3 and start calling people like Tetsue a fanboy when he merely posted some fairly unbiased info.

I just bought my copy here at the local Walmart.

 

I've yet to even start playing the storyline, I'm so in awe with the setting. It's just graphically stunning. I can't wait to explore more of the areas.

Last night I tried to do the old school villain thing and hog tied some lusty lady of the evening. I then proceeded to drop her on the nearest set of train tracks. All the while she was yelling phrases like "There are easier ways you can get me, I'm not that expensive". So I'm waiting for the train to come (which you can see on the map) and I get attacked by wolves. This is the most wonderfully random game ever.

I'm out hunting a bunch of animals north, so I can take them south to Mexico and get triple the price for them. While I'm skinning a couple of wolfs, a cougar attacks my horse. I shoot the cougar, and whistle for a new horse. While I'm waiting for my new beauty, a pack of 5 cougars comes for me. I Dead Eye too late, and the first one grabs my arm. I then proceed to back peddle and shoot. 10 seconds later I wake up in a room I'm renting in Armadillo.

lol murdock i beleive that the problem in question is the way that the game displays on an LCD on PS3 because of the non native resolution, I dont doubt for a mintue that you havent seen any problem because you may not have an LCD.

Hahaham sounds awesome, so do different buyers give different prices then? Sounds good, Id probably stick to my horse for as long as I can when hunting though, hopefully its easier to run and shoot when Cougars come after me

So a question for you guys, are the buying and selling option limited or is there alot you can scavenge/find and afterwards sell/buy?

 

Also I've seen some 'bugs' in the reviews as there were in IV... I read somewhere that these happen alot and are annoying (unlike the ones in IV) true or false?

 

Does it seem to run as 'smooth' as IV or better? Because IV/EFLC on consoles was really unstable.

I went to CD store yesterday and asked the man if they had red dead redemption. THe man told me that they have the game and the man went to a room. When he came back from that room he told me that they haven't got the game. At that moment, I wanted to knife that bastard.

Well, I have to say I love it, I recommend it to anyone who felt Naughty Dog's Uncharted was something to drool over, but that game at least allows you to shift shooting angles from left to right, this one does not, it puts stealth at a disadvantage, but you can keep moving to avoid a hit on you. Auto aim works if you quick target and fire, otherwise it's manually done. I played for over 12 hours in one sitting basically, and it is very absorbing, but if you dislike it, it will get worse for you perhaps, because it's not that busy, there's a lot of traveling involved over the map. Is Rockstar pulling user YouTube videos down? I plan to show a bit of it.

 

It doesn't feel like the GTA4 engine to me, it feels like a great PC game on the xBox and looks graphically on par. The control is good, the jumping is not so great, he can climb ladders and you press down to climb back down them.

 

I got nearly 20% complete, but I like to explore these type games too...so it wasn't just do the missions, but I did some of the random character ones you pick up as you travel.

 

You can respond with just one key press, but it's limited it feels like, I'd like more varied conversations but it's so well done otherwise, not a problem.

Night time starry sky is simply AMAZING and the animal threat is always there...you can hunt anything to increase your legend and skill.

At some point you can find a car and drive it I hope, we do see them appear as the game opens!

At Gamestop and Target the Xbox360 copies were wiped out, and nearly so at Best Buy, where I did get mine, I had to sleep before playing it however

In a way I really hope this game outsells Modern Warfare 2. Yes I haven't played the game yet though I dare to to bet that this game is alot f*cking better than Modern Warfare 2.

 

Really want this motherf*cker for PC... the waiting is damn terrible :].

I've totally ignored single player, due to how polished the multiplayer is from GTAIV. Only time I'm actually on single player is when I get those lame ass network errors.

I don't know if this is real or not, but if it is then all I can say is "nice attitude Rockstar". As you know RDR isn't coming to the PC and some PC gamers have expressed dismay about that. Well some eagle eyed german guy caught this video today off RDR's site :-

The video contains no spoilers and is a short 12 second video of Marston chasing a train, he sees the PC logo on a low trailer and shoots it. Now this could be fake but if it isn't then it is an extremely douche bag move from Rockstar. The video has been taken down now though.

 

I mean fine if Rockstar don't want to put their products on the PC that is up to them but do it with a bit more f*cking class and don't be arseholes about it.

The Xbox 360 is a 3 core machine, and I bought myself a quad core 8200, so I could play something this good, I think it really looks like a PC game on the xbox, so a transition seems easy from the look and feel. As for the earlier comment about saving, you can buy and rent places I believe, as well, set up a camp type thing on the road, however, I've not figured that out just yet
