When does the train start? I have only played the first couple of missions...Mainly the ones where I get my guns and lasso. I did the first sheriff mission.......i saved the game north of the ranch. I found a bridge that is knocked out on the tracks... I am assuming that bridge gets fixed at some point?

 

Is the train on your pause menu map or your mini map?

Also wanted to talk sh*t about multiplayer, not having a good time. It's does not compare to GTAIV (in a way) more difficult to start matches in RDR. When the rest of the world get this game, I'll really jump back into IV's multiplayer... it's better. This would be a different story if people weren't so uncooperative.

In what way does players being uncooperative affect the MP? Is it in the lobby or in the matches?

OK side note. has anyone tried playing the game as a bad guy. Every time i do something bad i get bad honor and then immediately get good honor for killing baddies. example. Ill kill a woman who is being dragged by men then they'll want to kill me then ill kill them then get good honor. WTF. I'm trying to be bad buts its not letting me. The only way to be really bad apparently is to kill a whole town. But i dont want to do that. What do i do??? I just want to be able to be bad without being ridiculousness bad like in fable where the only way to be bad is to kill every good person you see. Thats not fun for me. i want a challenge to be bad. Being good is challenging because you can only do certain things.

 

also i just wish there where more things that happened. Not that there aren't enough its just. The same sh*t happens to much. I wish they made some program that randomly made events on the fly not premade. Like random killings and shootouts from bar fights and sh*t like that. Stuff that ACTUALLY happens. duels are cool. But its just the same every time. It be cool if each event had different outputs every time. Not just either killim or let em go. sorry for douche comments but whteva. I love the game dont get me wrong though. Its just not enough for me. I really need MP.

You start out with 1 safehouse, but you can rent a lot more.

so many crazy random things have happened in the 10 hours ive played so far.. i was in armadillo just walking through town till a gang of about 5 guys start raising hell thru town. one guy was dragging a citizen with the lasso then the rest of the gang was shooting their guns straight up into the air. I decided to follow them and they went on a big loop that went in and out of town about two times and i thought to myself 'oh theyre just going to be going looping the trail till i leave this area' so i started to take off when we got into town the 3rd time then they opened fire on a couple cizitens in town then just took off down a highway. so i decided to follow again and they were still shooting their guns and yelling and some guy on the highway must've got spooked and pointed his gun at the gang.. didnt end to well for the fellow lol. this games randomly epic and addictive, i have to force myself to not play it just so i can make it last longer lol

D*mn you! You make me regret preordering it! My copy won't be here until tomorrow

 

I've been tracking my copy online with UPS and it's ETA was May 26th-28th...but it just arrived in a city about 30 miles from me which is it's last stop before it's delivered to me. I can't wait until 2:00PM tomorrow!!

I have the PS3 version and it seems fine to me. I've noticed the odd person pop-up when entering a town, but that's it.

 

I wouldn't be surprised if the 360 version looked a little crisper, bit the PS3 version is far from awful. Unless you're playing them side by side I doubt you'll notice a difference.

Actually this is apparently a semi-big discussion going on.

 

Does Red Dead Redemption have a resolution problem on Sony's PlayStation 3? Is it even fair to call a "sub-high-definition" resolution choice a "problem"? Will anyone who doesn't own both systems care? Is raising the point a waste of space? Am I standing on the lip of a lava pit goading readers to push me in?

 

Tahoma or Sans Serif? DVD or Blu-ray? S-Video or HDMI? Electronic paper display or LCD? We choose technology--yes, fonts are technology--based on visual parameters all the time. While it's silly to dismiss a game because of minor visual disparities on one platform versus another, it's just as silly to pretend those differences aren't there.

 

They exist in the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions of Red Dead Redemption, just as they did in Rockstar's Grand Theft Auto IV. As far as I can tell after messing around with both versions, and granted I'm speaking unscientifically, they look to be the same differences. Like GTA IV, Red Dead Redemption on the PS3 appears to be internally rendering at a lower resolution--some think 1152 x 640, or GTA IV's PS3 resolution--after which it's being software upscaled to 1280 x 720, or 720p, with quincunx anti-aliasing applied to smooth things over. That's compared to the Xbox 360 version, which runs natively at 720p, isn't being software upscaled, and employs 2x multisample anti-aliasing.

 

Consequently--and just as in GTA IV--the PS3 version of Red Dead Redemption looks notably murkier (though some might justifiably argue "smoother"), as if the world were overlaid with gaussian blur. It's noticeable immediately in the intro shot of the steamboat chugging into Blackwater port: Where the buildings, trees, mountains, and steamboat itself are crisply defined on the Xbox 360, they seem dimmer and slightly unfocused on the PS3, an effect that looks like interpolation to my eyes, i.e. how an LCD handles images when output at any of its non-native resolutions. The effect is continuous throughout the game: Objects with fine mesh textures look fuzzed from a distance. Tree branches, shrubbery, and the tangles in tumbleweeds lose their distinctness. The edges on distant buildings and right-angled objects seem to ripple and flicker more when shifting your view back and forth.

 

Conversely, and for technical reasons I'd only be guessing at, the PS3 version also looks a shade warmer than the Xbox 360 version (though it's easy to tweak the latter by fiddling with your TV's color temp settings).

 

Some people prefer Rockstar's approach on the PS3, for the same reasons they'll overlay a photo with slight blurring in Photoshop to "soften" or "warm" it. Others (like me) prefer the crisper--or as Rockstar's Sam Houser put it to 1UP about GTA IV, "more clinical"--look offered by the Xbox 360. For me, it's more a matter of sighting objects (or hostiles) accurately from a distance. You don't need me to remind you how important this can be in multiplayer.

 

As usual, my advice is to buy for the console you own. I'm not dithering to save myself from the frier, it's simply true given the obvious economics. If you own both consoles, on the other hand, your choice is between "crisper and slightly sterile-looking" versus "slightly unfocused but warmer." If you've played GTA IV and had to make this choice before, you already know the drill, and probably which way you roll.

Think about it.

PS3 has blueray technology which allows for a much bigger game/movies.

The disc can hold more data, more so then the 360.

 

@Tetsuo: No offence dude... but it seems your the fanboy.

I owned both consoles and IMO PS3 is much, much better.

And I like both, no fanboyism from me.
