I wish. I was doing dissertation practice for third year university. I chose to do 3000 words, analysing books and images, on the question; "Should computer games be considered artistic?"

Seems like everyone is arguing about games being art these days. In my opinion games can be considered art, but not all of them of course. Not every book, painting, movie or music is art either. But what is considered art can be very subjective. We should have a separate topic for this kind of discussion IMO.

RDR looks like one of those games that can be considered art. Capturing the essence of early 20th century in a form of interactive media is definitely art.

I used Amazon, I liked the golden guns and I also had £30 of Amazon vouchers so it was clear cut. If I hadn't had the vouchers I would have had a tough choice between the war horse and the golden guns, I probably would have gone for the guns for the extra fame and side missions. I did wonder about the horse tho, can it be killed? I assume not as it could end up the shortest living DLC in history lol

I have to be on Papanesta's side on that one, not having played GTA IV for ages I got to re-experience the delights of Liberty City again with EFLC when it came out for the PS3 and it blew me away once again. It was like playing a living, breathing ever changing painting that conveyed the beauty and often ugliness of a thriving city. Visually it is a stunning piece of art.

 

You're right it should have it's own topic, but as this is an RDR topic by the makers of GTA then I am expecting another piece of art that will hopefully blow Liberty City out of the water.

I just know people are going to be "dissapointed" on May the 18th and 21st. Just like they were with Gta IV. These people are sadly not happy with anything. Nothing is ever good enough. Screw that. I loved Gta IV & I'm going to love Red dead too.

Man, I had a dream today where I got RDR like a week in advance. Okay, I forgot how the game started but John's movements were pretty cool to control. I forgot to try out horses, I was just running around in some town in New Austin. Felt like crap when I woke up and realized it was a dream

I have no doubt it will. If nothing else it's an open world game set in The Old West which is a good enough reason to put it in my Top 10 of all time video games.
