Yeah, thanks a bunch. You saved me from wasting my money on some AGP card! Even though the PCI card is more expensive, I'm sure it's worth it. Seeing how this dumb o' HP video card barely runs smoothly with GTA SA.

But yeah, how would I find out about how many watts it requires? This is my final question.

leik oh em jeez!

It doesn't really draw enough power to make a difference, so your current power supply should do just fine. colgate.gif

Thanks a million friend! You've helped me, and saved me, tons of stress on GTA SA.

Now I can play lagg-free, and have tons of mods. Maybe even ENBseries. ;O We'll have to see. confused.gif

Well thank you very much, after a couple months I'm supposed to get a new computer. biggrin.gif

This will satisfy my wait very much.

Sorry for the mix up. The System Information for Windows log you posted shows that you have one AGP and three PCI slots. This is why I recommended an AGP card.

Sorry for the double post, but I opened my Computer today.

There were two free sockets, errr. I guess that's what you call them? Ports?

Well, yeah. You know how you can add one of those things, like say.. A Dial up modem. Yeah.

Two of them were empty, is that where the video card should go?

Well, the one that you said should do, it had three slots I believe.

The port that I see has one long open space, then a line, and a small space.

I can't explain it quite well, but I'll try and get some pictures to explain it.\

SEE. the slots make it look like this one would fit.

Long, space, small.

That's how the sockets look. Those are the only two that I see that are open. I'll try and get a picture soon enough, so I can show you.

It also looks like this one would fit, maybe I do have AGP ports?

Those cards are both AGP. It seems like you have an AGP port.

Can you post a picture? Will make it way easier to tell you.

Edit:

Is this what the port looks like?

I'm sorry but my Mobile PC phone's internet was turned off and I don't have a digital camera..

Edit;

Yes it kinda does look like that, but it's white.

I'm looking at the picture I took with my PC mobile, it doesn't look like that. The second slot is much smaller.

EDIT; Okay that is exactly what it looks like!

but I only have three of them.

One is used by a Dial up modem.

Thanks a bunch! I thought I had f*cked up. I already ordered the card about two hours ago. I got curious, so I popped open my computer. Ahaha, thanks a bunch.

Gaming, and what not.

Going to stick to some classic 04-06 games that I've been playing lately.

Just to wait out till I get my new computer, somewhere in the summer. So yeah, I already have money saved up. I'm looking to get a really good gaming computer, maybe I'll start a thread when I start building it for some help, but yeah.

Haha, well at least I got this video card thing settled.

( I just noticed, on the reviews it says " Good if you don't have AGP or PCI-E slots. " Meaning it's a PCI port. But..

http://www.newegg.com/Product/ShowImage.as...rd%20-%20Retail

The picture says PCI, but lower down it says PCI-E. Dunno'. Just making sure. ;O

Here comes the confusion. D:

every video having to do with the sparkle 8500 GT says " pci express " < Bus type. I think that the reviews were wrong.

That's because not many PCI cards are bought these days, so you'll mostly see videos for PCI-E cards.

That card is definitely PCI. Can you tell me where exactly it says its PCI-E at the Newegg page?

They're just using the PCI-E pictures instead of the PCI ones as they look almost exactly the same.

I'm sure its PCI. But you can just get the same card in 256MB here from TigerDirect.

About the power, the 8500GTs use only about 35W of power, so try running it with your current power supply. It most likely will work.

I already ordered the one from newegg. And where does it show the watt requirements?

Sides I think that one from Tigerdirect is a different model, or it's just more expensive because of the heatsinks.

That really doesn't answer my watt question. But eh.

There are good reviews, and bad ones. Maybe they just don't have the ram power? Well.

With two gigs of ram, and the 8500 GT, do you think it could play GTA SA full settings? Possibly ENB series?

It should right? My current card can play GTA SA medium settings around 20 FPS.. Or maybe more. Eh.

I just read the specs on tiger direct, it needs a 300W supply, I have a 250. confused.gif I can't afford a PSU at the moment.

I don't know for sure, but I think I require a 20 pin power PSU, like this one?

Sorry if I wasn't clear enough before.

I'm pretty sure you'll be able to play SA maxed out, maybe even ENB, can't tell for sure until you try it out. But my similar 8600GT can run SA maxed out with ENB, so that should offer some good comparison.

A 24 pin power supply unit is also fine, but yeah, that PSU would work fine.

This is the deal about video card power requirements. The minimum suggested by manufacturers is not the ACTUAL minimum, it is with a safety margin.

And don't worry so much, I'm pretty sure it would work on a 250W PSU as the rest of your PC isn't all that power hungry.

Ah, okay. Thanks a bunch then. The PSUs seem pretty cheap. So hah! If it doesn't work with mine I can just get a new one. Thanks for clearing the smoke for me.

Of course, I'll have a ton of money in the summer. I'm sure the people here could help me get a really good PC. =D

Hopefully my last question but,

How many FPS do you get with GTA SA with ENB series?

( And how much ram do you have. )

Edited by Kenoz

I get around 50FPS with my 8600GT and I have 2 gigs of RAM.

But you should expect less than that I think, since you have a P4 and a slower video card than mine.

Ah. Yeah. I'm guessing I'll get around 30 to 20. Nah, I could get more if I just leave bloom and reflection, that's all I want.

Anyway, yeah. If anything I'm going to put my spare gig of ram in. So I'll have two gigs.

Why not always use the whole 2 gigs of RAM? It should help performance a lot. 1GB to 2GB gives a huge jump in performance.
