New no CD launcher from Securom.com

Recommended Posts

I had an issue with Securom launching the game using my retail CD. It was not recognized as a genuine disk. So I sent them an an email and they responded back in less than 12 hours. They sent a link to a new LaunchGTAIV.exe file that happens to be a no CD launcher. Below is what they wrote with a link to the new .exe file:

Hello.

Thank you for your e-mail.

Your issue can be solved with an updated executable.

Please perform these steps:

1. Open the folder 'C:/Program Files/===jeux/gta/Grand Theft Auto IV/'

2. Rename the 'launchgtaiv.exe' to 'launchgtaiv.exe.OLD' in the folder above (Right-click on this executable and go down to 'rename') 3. Download this zip-archive:

*/

02/09/2009. The Securom Official No-CD isn't available anymore at this URL. I suggest you download it from the following mirror download location (Please browse this Post for additional download mirror sites):

***

*/

4. Extract the new 'launchgtaiv.exe' from the downloaded zip-archive into the folder 'C:/Program Files/.../Grand Theft Auto IV/'

5. Start the new 'launchgtaiv.exe'

If the problem persists, please send another analysis file of the new 'launchgtaiv.exe' to us.

If you have any further questions feel free to contact us.

Best regards,

Here is the link again: http://www.securom.com/support/customers/r...LaunchGTAIV.zip

PS: I don't encourage using illegal copies of the game. I bought mine for $49.99 at Best Buy and it literally took me 5 days to figure out how to make it work properly. This launcher was sent to me by Securom staff and is hosted on their own website to help people that had issues running the game. If you have moral issues launching the game without the original CD, don't use it, but don't condemn those who pass along the information to help others who experienced the same issues (Read this post: http://www.gtaforums.com/index.php?showtopic=394866) launching the game.

Just tried this and online with patch 2 all is well.

Why on earth would a company who create such software then pass out a version not doing the job its actual intended ... seems all mighty strange to me.

Basically if they themselves issued this version and its clearly official source, plus I have legit copy... sod it im using it..

i don't get it too..

i think, that this is not public release (i didnt find that on their website for free download)..they just send it to people which proved them, that they have legit copy..

or maybe this file can recognise legit and warez versions of the game and works only for legit versions ..dont know..

This nodvd don't bypass online activation, so i think its for legit users only

Well that makes more sense then.

I don't think they would help legit users out and mail them a URL link like this assuming people wouldnt hotlink to it anyway, so I think they are confident enough to be open about it and becuase it doesn't bypass anything else then that is ok.

People listen up. What happens when your disc is damaged beyond repair? you cant launch the game that you brought. I see this as a 'backup' solution to that problem, while i discourage this link to be posted around and made publicly aware, im sure at some point there will be a official 'release' of this 'official no dvd patch'

We are talking about securom here and im sure it likely has some notorious 'phone-home' protocol when its launched that authenticates with a server somewhere that unlocks the game. Remembering that we have unlimited installs of the game, we still have a serial number and we have to revoke our licence every time we want to uninstall or play on another computer else it will lock you out of the game and you will have to phone support. so in my mind, its a great idea. colgate.gif

i emailed securom a few days ago with the same problem and i got this reply

Hello.

Thank you for your e-mail.

After careful inspection of the analysis file and due to your error

description, it appears that the issue is not SecuROM related.

Please contact the software publisher for further support options related to

issues specific to the software.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask.

Best regards,

Don't be fooled into thinking this is legal, too.

Rockstar and Take2 owns the IP to Grand Theft Auto, not Sony, not Securom.

While it may be a working nocd crack, it's still being distributed by a third party, and still violates copywrite law. They still have no rights over software distribution, and they're pretty much admitting to tampering with private property (unless they've been given consent by either owner of the software, which could be)

Regardless, I doubt Rockstar nore Take2 will do anything about it. But if you email tech support and explain you're having an issue with the game after using SecureRoms nocd fix, don't expect a gracious response.

Lolel sent them a message and they replied "Oh what you need is an updated executable" but what they really meant was "Oh what you need is an executable that has our disc check copy protection removed because it's worthless and causes more problems than anything".

Been using the InSecuROM approved No DVD Crack since yesterday and it works fine. smile.gif

Oh my god did you even read the post? What are you the copyright police? It's from InSecuROM and they never stated it would remove the disc check.

lol this is just the razor crack. now securom is passing it out as their work. lol.

ok maybe not. this is actually the exe from the 1.03 patch. look at the details. when is the 1.03 patch coming? dunno. but looks like theyre gonna remove the protection in the 3rd patch.

uhh securom isnt just a simple cd check, that's the least important part

online activation is what matters

the disc check is for single player users to not pirate in the first weeks after launch as in theory that's when the most purchases happen
