Shaders?

Recommended Posts

Hey, i've just installed a legal version of gta4.

I have that BIG problem with shaders. It shows up like : You do not have Shader Model 3.0 DD3D60

I've heard that there is a fix for that. I am posting my specs here:

MSI VR610X

AMD Athlon X2 1.8 GHz ( thats dual core, i've installed Dual Core optimizer)

ATi Radeon x1200 128mb (yes yes, but there's hyper memory so i have 700 megs of vram)

15,4" screen 1280x800 ( i can even play on 640x480 that doesn't matter)

2GB of RAM

I just want to run it on even 15 fps, just to play it. suicidal.gif

Thanks for help.

Pery

EDIT: Thanks for moving that topic wink.gif

any other help? cry.gif

You can most likely upgrade your laptop, actually, but probably not in a way that would allow you to run GTA IV. Does your laptop meet the requirements of the game?

you gfx does not support shader model 3.0....

and you can upgrade to a new laptop, since you can not do the same as a desktop

no one can help you, without writing a emulator for shader 3.0... but then your comp would be too slow to run it in software anyway... would need a quad to run it

I personally wish R* had made this game more flexible with system specs. There's really very little reason NOT to design a game with this many components to be totally flexible. Even if someone has to turn peds down to 5% and cut view distance off to one island at a time, there is really NO reason this game couldn't scale to be played on just about any modern computer.

That said, they built it for the 360 and assumed that most modern comps would be able to play it. Not true, the game is much more dependent on high end hardware than it should be.

The fact that you NEED a Quad Core just to get decent FPS (solid 30+) is a sign of how far wrong they were.

So what I'm saying is, if you had a Dual Core and Oc'd it, and you had a decent video card, and the 2GB of ram was DDR800, I would say you could get the game going. As it is now, I don't think so. Sorry.
