Why does the clock tower still not work?

I cannot believe you people moaning about a missing clock.

Shoddy detail! What anal nonsense!

And the PC version is most definitely the definative version.

Like this thougroughly affects the way people play GTA IV. getalife.

Carpets don't effect the way we live in our homes, but the state of them reflects on something important: how much people care.

Seemingly aesthetic features in such a poor state reflects on the attitude of Rockstar towards the PC version and towards us. No one said it affected the game; the complaints are about the thick layers of contempt demonstrated in the game.

I'm not really sure what version of GTA IV you have been playing. Sure, it's hell going trough Social Club and GFWL account linking, but once you're actually playing the game it's so awesome. I really don't know what's wrong with you people picking on the PC version all the time. Don't complain all the time and just play the f*cking game. So what it you can't play it on 2500*1600. I play it on 1024*768 and it's been really smooth. Gameplay over graphics anyday.

@Luceberg: You just totally summed up my thoughts. Kudos

No one here is complaining they can't play it at 2560 x 1600. What we are complaining about is MISSING features that were in the console version and are NOT in the PC version. I find it incredulous that a game billed as having "fantastic detail" seems to be missing most of this detail in the bloody PC version

So far we have discovered the clock on the clock tower doesn't work and now we have discovered the ticker tapes on star junction don't work. I wonder what we will discover next ? Now call me old fashioned but when I buy a GTA game on the PC I expect it to at least have the same damn graphical quality as a 3 year old console. I know I am odd that way.

This is just the final straw for a lot of people, now I am prepared to give Rockstar Toronto a chance however the clock and the ticker tape screens did not work to begin with on the PC version. We have had two patches and they still aren't working. Who wants to bet they still won't be working after a third patch ?

I wonder if the tickers worked, would they put

a tiny load on your gpu causing you to lag a bit,

and if by now someone would have created a thread

on how to turn them off because we do not need them.

It's my last straw. As I wrote here . I won't take it up the ass anymore (even though it was fun while it lasted lol). No I'm not gay (not that there's anything wrong with that). But it feels like they literally f*cked me/us (PC gamers) up the ass. If it's the $10 dollars their worried about (pc games being cheaper then console games), charge more. I'm sure most of us, if not all would gladly pay more. If given the chance. Sure you keep saying this is something we should just take and keep taking. For the love of the game. But why? I guess if that's something your willing to do. Then do it. I for one will not. f*ck it. I'm done with this.

Well [email protected]

Another missing thingy.

I'm glad people are finding these because I'm doubting the dev knew about it.

Maybe will get this in the next patch, granted that the 2nd removed a ton of stuff supposedly.

Adding all of this stuff back in, as well as adding more fixes and or more options to the game's menu might be a bit hard for them to deal with.

It will be another month or 2, plus given how it ended last time, I'm thinking this time they will spend yet another month on testing ^^.

At this rate, the 3rd patch, could very well be our final patch.

Which might be fine, hopefully.

Hopefully we aren't missing something else as well though and it never get's noticed until it's to late.

I think we're gonna be ok though dudes.

Just that the game took extra 5-6 month's after retail release to work 98% lol.

In addition to the "save the clock tower" flyer from BTTF i also have found exclusive footage of the clock tower being damaged... lol.gif

(if you're wondering, thats from a modified version of GTA Vice City)

Wow, I always wondered why that building was called "Clocktower". That's cool how there is (meant to be) a digital clock there!

When I unlocked Algonquin, I wondered where the stock market ticker tapes were. I saw it in the first trailer some 2 years ago.

R* better fix it in the next patch (but it isn't as big a problem as the missing objects) dozingoff.gif

If R* added this, the FPS would be down to 5fps

I would like to see you explain this in detail.

Yeah, it doesn't make any sense why fps will drop if they fix them

They might drop a little bit but so what.

I'de rather have them and and have to deal with the config a little bit then not have them.

To those saying that we are complaining about this; damn straight! Those tickers added to the immersion, reporting on news, preferably Niko's latest shenanigans. And I used that clock tower on the Algonquin bridge to check the time instead of whipping out the phone. It's small things, but these little details add to the immersion of a breathing, living city. I mean, Rockstar North were pretty much 'f*nny glossing' over this during the pre-release hype of the console versions.

Oh, and I pretty much remember North saying that the city was the main character. Some main character they've given you PC guys; and soon to be me as well cry.gif . Always with the draw backs.......

Why is it whenever we find a missing feature people always assume "they did it to keep the frame rate up". I feel it necessary to remind people that these missing features are already WORKING on the consoles which have 4 - 5 year old PC technology in them. So if they can get the damn ticker tape working on a slashed to pieces PC with only 400mbs of ram with no problem then they can get the damn things working on a massively more advanced PC with 4,000mbs of ram.

It is likely this is a result if 2 possible scenarios, either a) it was a low priority thing and they never got round to getting it working on the PC or b) they never realised that the clock and ticker tapes weren't working. Whatever the reason though it is inexcusable, I want the ticker tapes working and I want the clock on the damn clock tower actually SHOWING the damn time.

I'm starting to wonder, who f*cking tested this game? Did they even bother hiring anyone? It seems to me, Toronto pulled this mess of a game out on one of their coffee breaks confused.gif .

The only way I can see that this happened was that it wasn't noticed, this would not cause massive FPS drop so therefore I can't see any point of removing it from the game, I imagine if we had noticed and pointed it our earlier it may have made it into a patch, maybe is the word here !

EDIT- I think things like this should be in the game but I'm not to bothered about it in the long run, fixing it would be nice though wink.gif

What we are talking about aren't proper lights, but textures. And as far as I know, every GTA had these kind of texts displayed somewhere.

Even GTA III had something like this at the car showroom, and back then they were hardcoded, not mission script controlled as some of you may assume. sad.gif

I very diagree this dumb posts saying "if they are working, the fps will drop down"

The weirdest and dumbest posts ever.

PC's are more powerfull and every periode there comes new nVidia cards out!

Even Intel, ATI and AMD!

So PC is a big sexbeast ever, consoles are not more than only little old rats.

Its very disapointing things there are in consoles and they actually works

and in PC NOT working.

Thats would take the fun down.

Its useless, I think R* Toronto is the first company wich taken things of the PC game.

And that sucks.

Its not funny, I think R Toronto laughs their banging asses off with these topics and posts.

Im sure 3rd patch screw the game and further and then the firework will be

started and exploded

"Worsest game of the age, unhappy new year"

The game is nice but taken things out icon13.gif

But when your talking to a group of people that's platform that birthed GTA and is noticeably superior to consoles, you'd be p*ssed too. Especially seeing as these guys had to wait longer for it, being promised by none other than Rockstar themselves that this would look and play better; and that it was the definite version of the game. I can understand people's somewhat 'nitpickyness'.

All these little things contribute to the bigger picture, and that Rockstar lied; probably so they could still get consumer's money without a second thought. And like I already stated, I thought one of the main aspects of GTA IV's enjoyment, was to find these little details. I've spent many hours on the console version just finding minuet things, and to see the PC version denied such a right, is a disrespect to the loyal fans to the franchise.

Well, at least Toronto are trying to fix these issues (although, not doing too well from what I've seen).

So you think it is acceptable that the console version has these things but he PC version doesn't ? I have been a strong defender of GTA 4 throughout al the problems but this is a step too damn far for me.

Maybe they didn't want to add it because they had a deadline to get IV out shipped for PC or just the fact that rockstar didn't think it would work too well on PC's.
