Since my thread got locked. I'll repost here.

 

 

Modding has always been a big part of the GTA community. If it wasn't for modding we wouldn't have wonderful mods such as Multi Theft Auto and SA-MP.

Removing it completely from the current game would anger a lot of people of this community and it would be rather foolish of Rockstar.

I do think that it needs to be addressed in some way though. Using trainers and mods on ranked servers, is nothing more than blatant cheating.

Also, griefing in any way, ranked or not a ranked server, is ban worthy in my opinion. That said, i have nothing against them if you are using them on non ranked modes such as free roam. In fact, i just started using one myself.

I, however, never interfere with other people's fun though and i discourage troublemakers from doing so. I could see this only resolved by adding a Pure (not modded) and Unpure (modded) option for the games host to choose from. Ranked servers should be set to Pure permanently though. Other games have it. So should this. Punkbuster would be one way to resolve this. I just hope that Rockstar resolves this instead of leaving the work to the community.

rockstar should make anti cheat, i have cheats but i dont enable them in any dm game unless someone else is cheating only for defense, in freemode only and odd time but thats when i get annoyed with friendly fire being on lol

Agreed.

I don't really mind people spawning stuff in Free Roam etc and from what I've read, but the ones who make themselves and vehicles invincible are nothing short of pure cheaters.

Today I finally fixed my MP problems(seems there were some ports left which should be open^^), and the first thing I encountered was a cheating party on a server. They were spawning indestructible cars, had rocket-MGs and seemed to had god mode on...this wasnt fun at all.

I havent played much MP yet, but I think freeplay is one of the greatest playmodes...having some fun with the police or stuff is just great...but when those guys join and cheat or crash the server the fun is over...its just frustrating how often this seems to happen....

The number of indestructible cars I'm seeing now. They turn up, mow you down, you turn round and get a direct hit with an RPG... and nothing happens. This is with friendly fire off, so you actually survive getting mowed down.

I don't even bother going into free mode servers with friendly fire on...

 

I also just posted a poll, but I'm pretty sure it'll get locked. Ah well.

With hacking becoming rife around GTA IV online, I seem to encounter rather a lot of them in free mode. Normally, hackers aren't too much of a problem if they just leave other people alone. It's the ones that go out with the purpose of irritating as many people as possible that are the problem. Whenever I tell them to stop (politely or sometimes not-so-politely) the most common response I get is "It's free mode N00B" (usually with much worse grammar / spelling than that). They then usually go on to say things about my mother etc. etc. the usual crap.

 

I've even had somebody say to me today that R* said themselves that they wouldn't ban people on free mode, only ranked matches. I asked them for a link to this official statement and they went quiet rather quickly.

 

So anyway, I ask you. Is this actually a valid justification to blatantly hack? I think not, but what do you think?

 

What I mean by blatantly hacking is stuff like invincible cars, rocket-pistol/SMG/assault rifles. I don't have any problems with simple car / object spawners in free mode, they can be fun if used responsibly. I did see somebody spawning boats in a ranked race today though. That was rather annoying, difficult to push a boat out of the way in a comet...

and there should be an antimodding system integrated

for RANKED servers.

all the time one respawns in a crowded server,

he gets killed right away which is quite annoying.

It's become so common that even honest players get accused of cheating because they are wearing a kevlar vest and they happen to be playing on a server where more than 1/2 of the players are cheating. Happened to me more than once. Because of mods this game has become a hackfest in multiplayer.

i wasnt happy at all in freemode earlier, its utter crap. Back to single player on this and multi for FC2. cheaters have wrecked the would-be good experiances due to selfishness and lack of skill.

Has anyone contact Rockstar support on this issue and had a reply? Or seen any Rockstar communication that they are working on stopping MP cheaters?

 

If I know they are working on it, that will put me at ease. I hate silence, however!!

I've been avoiding the MP recently because of this. I'm just so sick and tired of it, no reason playing just to get blown away by automatic rocket launchers and body guards shooting at you for aiming at them. My computer has managed to take all the vehicle spam and not crash, but I can see people doing it and crashing others. Which pisses me off.

These guys are not on the server for fun, they are there to crash the server and get every 1 kicked. know i have names, im not going to mention any. but if something isnt done about this, what the hell is it gonna be like when it gets to the point where no 1 wants to play.

What a waste of a awesome next gen game.

I have the same problem atm with getting the pc running too slow, with 4gb of ram I just cannot believe it, especially with my mate siting across the room with 2gb and alot lower specs running the game flawlessly. We also **** on cheaters and hackers and try to make them as uncomfortable as possible. A good idea and what I have been doing is capturing them cheating and uploading the video with the cheaters name in the caption, should see them squirm and try to plead that they are not modding! I like the idea of these people who are good enough to make mods use their resources for creating us pc users some new episodes. I would d/l them way before any mods or cheats. C'mon use your technical powers for good, not to cheat!

Who cares if they mod. Its R*'s fault. Theres games out there that a modified of there titties but as soon as they go mp there mods dont work with mp.

The point I was making wasnt about if they made the mod or not. Doesnt matter if they made the mod or if they downloaded and applied it. If R* is not doing anything about being able to use mods online then its R*'s fault and no one elses.

 

 

 

 

Thats why there is no ban option online yet. (Well thats my theory)

Both of those occupations take load of skill and knowledge, while cheaters are just plain brainless losers.

I don't think we are allowed to list names on the board (i tried but topic was locked). This is because we can't prove 100% that they are cheaters.

Anyone notice the disproportionate amount of french people using hax? I dont want to sound xenophobic but for the last week it seems that anyone spawning crap all over mp in godmode turns out to be french.

Why can't we dedicated servers files?

So people can run there own servers and install anti-cheat scripts and what not.

 

Now we must depend on GFWL system.

Yeah In SA-MP they cheated, but this is ridiculous , you can't even do a normal game of Dealbreaker.

i have not played gta iv in a wile. so today i installed it on my pc. i when online and almost got run down by a water tower. then i found a weirdly placed raps. i started walking to the run way and a plain comes out of nowhere and lands randomly. i turn around and i see a flying car. then a guy in a car with another car with no one in it that keeps lagging all around him as if it was stuck to him shoots me down. then when i respawn and a player with the model of a dead ped comes up to me riding a moped. wile driving i keep finding randomly colored cars and helicopters that should not be that color.

 

so is there anything else i need to know about? is online play compliantly been messed up by other people? is they any way to avoid this? if not it looks like i should just play the 360.

this is just my experience with gta iv so far,I have never used spawners or cheats in the game, and i have nothing against spawning stuff in free mode ,but when people spawn 500 cars or 90 body gaurds or boats falling from the sky this must have a effect on the game, it lags like a mf and is causing no end of more bugs and glitches , if im lucky i dont get booted and i get to watch the slideshow chug * chug * chug* , if not its out to desktop or server front page .

 

i have no problem with spawing a new shiny car or a heli or anything but it never just does that and sometimes people spawn one car in one place and 50 appear in another without them knowing , so they think oh its ok its just one car. Its not like we dont have enough issues with the game already.

Well, the worst kind of cheaters it's the guys who become invisible and then kill you.

I don't care about the cheaters who can select any weapon at any time, 'cause cheaters are retardeds noobs and don't know how to use the RPG.

I really think who one anti-cheat like in SA-MP would be a lot better... anyone can create cheats and they work fine.

Like explosions... you can modify the GTA IV files and create a explosion really big with the RPG, you can shot and the explosion will be big for you, but for the peoples who don't have the same file for you, the explosion is normal.BUT - if the explosion created with modified files of IV it's big enough to kill you, you'll die.You'll not see the explosion, but you'll die.This happened to me one time... I was walking, and then I start flying away

The guys who can fix damaged cars also piss me off.

Sometimes I think who a IV-MP like a SA-MP would be better

i really hope r* make anti cheat for multi player and update it very regular possibly even every day but i doubt that will happen.

bought gta iv on preorder so had it since launch

been avoiding playing online until the 1.2 patch because of the performance, now it is tweaked to an acceptable level and plays quite smooth.

really started enjoying race mode and still am when no cheaters or trolls are on, trolls you can ignore but cheaters no

 

was having a truck race and 2 ppl had supercars

 

on race mode pile of cars blocking the road completely lol in a p****d off way

 

ppl with superior faster running cars i have seen once or twice and teleporting ahead of you when you have passed them, they all saying it is because of lag i don't know if that is true.

 

on gta race ppl starting with smg and killing everyone giving no one a chance

 

on death match i shot someone in head a few times with sniper and nothing happening, not good

 

cops and crooks ppl with invincible health also.

 

i'm all for voting to have cheaters temperary kicked but in a race you don't really get a chance to vote or you will come last

 

this could be my favorite multiplayer game if anti cheat measures are taken, but as it is, it is killing the fun and if it does not get fixed i will have to stay with other games like cod4 and forget about gta

the only mods i would like to see with this game are a load of new race tracks which could easily be added in a patch and the episodic content but i doubt the ep content will ever come to pc if only, the vehicles are top notch in my honest opinion, unlike previous gta games.

Personally I like some of those people that spawn cars becuase if you ask for a car that is hard to find online for instants Sabre GT is almost impossible to get online. So they can spawn you one and your off, so I think its all right if they don't abuse it like some or most of them do.

I've noticed this too. Lots of Germans seem to hack too.
