A Happy Ending (pun not intended)

After the purchase made off of Steam and many registrations later, we all...I mean most (90% ?), found ourselves in a mountain of bugs and errors beyond anything we could have imagined this game to be. I was on the band waggon with the missing textures and could not play the game because of it.

 

I've tried all the suggestions and guides on this site and other sites as well, I downloaded all sorts of applications and programs, I defraged, Swept all the drivers, you name it, but in the end it was all a futile attempt at a game that was, in my and many others comprehension, broken. The letters I wrote for refunds was a fail in addition to everything mentioned.

 

I just started playing the game, after patch 2, on 1/25/09 to be exact. Patch 2 brought with it a fix for my missing texture problem, enhanced my graphics, plus allowed me to have more traffic and distance perception to boot. Oh man, what a turnaround in my case at least. Here I though that $50 gone into the trash. The game is amazing in SINGLE player.

 

So overall, thanks R* for doing what you were meant to do at the release of this product, that is, optimize it to actaully play as intended on systems that meat the low and recommended requirements.

 

There is still much to be done of course, like fixing multiplayer which I have yet to play due to not being able to find any games or connect to one at that. The FPS can really be annoying, I agree people, but coming from a person that just now actually got to play the damn thing I can live with 30-40 fps so far.

 

This is my first post, and I guess what I am trying to point out is that there seems to be a ray of hope, that all your complaints (some not so mature) and all your support for this community through providing information and suggestions on what has worked to mend your problems, has gotten through to Rockstar and perhaps patch 3 will resolve them all.

 

Here is to us all getting a happy ending...I should have chosen different words.

You can live with 30-40 fps? how much more do you want. I'd love to have 30-40 fps but I can live with 18-25 fps

30-40 when all runs dandy. After about 40 minutes to an 1hr of play it declines to the teens and mid 20s. Sometimes worse.
