e2thejdot
For real though, how far does this go before its considered a complete rip-off? The story seems VERY similar. Art styles seem VERY similar..

Wenis IV
Cough cough! Ahem. Yes. *Clears throat.* "Old." Really? Is it? That GTA art has been up for all of four days. So how old is it exactly, genius? But guess what? Sons of Anarchy came out on September 3rd and GTA IV came out back in April. Rockstar was already past planning for The Lost and Damned back then. i like coffee enemas
At the end of the day, R* are big movie/TV fans so they will always be doing stuff like this. R* like to take current images, stories and what not and add their own twist to things. Why complain? R* know what they're doing so it works. It's not like they ever directly copy anything they have the right to take. Who's going to refuse to let a company like R* use their ideas as a base anyway? They're only like the biggest, best and well-known video game developers in the world Quit your whining and just enjoy the game for what it is. Stop nitpickin'. Pr0xy_fl00d3r
How is it a complete rip off? they are two completely different back patches.
AnotherDave
If you're talking about the logo/back patch then the Lost's was in IV, which as somebody said before was released in April, over four months before Sons of Anarchy. If you mean the overall art style, they're not that similar, and it certainly couldn't be called a rip-off.

LitoBX
For real though, how far does this go before its considered a complete rip-off? The story seems VERY similar. Art styles seem VERY similar.. I don't see you complaining about Vice City using Scarface as a huge part of the game. Every game most likely uses some sort of movie or television show in their game, hell some movies take some ideas from other movies. The world still goes round, stop being a baby. Plus, The Lost and Damned was announced four months earlier and all they did was make one art picture in the style of a Sons of Anarchy picture, that's using your intelligence, not stealing. (Was I to harsh? I hope I don't get banned from posting again.) Edited January 27, 2009 by LitoBX
Gorillaman
GTA Games are always rip offs of multiple movies and TV shows, but they're good, fun rip offs that are totally worth playing so who cares. Examples: GTA3: Goodfellas and The Godfather GTA Vice City: Scarface (even down to the soundtrack) GTA San Andreas: Boys In The Hood, Menace To Society, Juice, South Central All they're doing is keeping with the style they've perfected over the years, so what's all the whining for?! Big_Mitch_Baker
The only "Rip off" There is the motto: "The lord forgives, The Lost do not"...Last I heard the Outlaws MC copyrighted that motto (or pretty much the same, the Outlaws say God forgives, outlaws don't) sure the artwork is similar, but big deal people often have the same idea without ever seeing the others work...Take for example the movie "The Ringer", which is a complete rip off of an older South Park episode in which Cartman pretends to be retarded to win the special olympics...They even use some of the same jokes word for word. Yet both claim they never stole the idea from the other

So how old is it exactly, genius? Well, excuse the f*ck out of me for the fact that people have been drawing comparisons to Sons of Anarchy ever since the Lost and Damned was announced. TLAD=SOA is older than the layer of filth at the bottom of my trash cans. Besides, who cares if its a ripoff? It's Grand Theft Auto - that's just what they do, and their games actually benefit from it.
e2thejdot
@ ChrisMathers3501 I don't really care if they rip the show off or not. I love the show and I'm sure I'll enjoy playing the game. I was just laughing and pointing out a huge similarity. Got my attitude with you because I hate that every time someone posts something on this forum, it automatically gets dismissed as "old" when other people don't want to read it, regardless of whether or not its been pointed out. Thats ignorance. @ LitoBX As I've said many times before on this forum.. yes, GTA came out 4 months before SOA. Do you really think SOA got written, directed and pitched to the networks overnight though? It takes time to create. That gives plenty of time to copy. I'm not crying, although you appear to want me to be. I enjoy SOA and GTA equally. I just think its a bit overboard when even the logos are starting to look like they were made by the same artist. @ something_else How exactly is that not similar? Not only are they both in virtually identical color schemes (tan/black, with the same portions of the body in the same colors), but its the same exact effects on both logos. The only REAL difference is the flag and the bridge.
AnotherDave
I didn't say they weren't similar, I said they weren't that similar. From a design point of view there are some differences, the palette Rockstar have used is more vibrant and they've used a sharper style than the SoA artwork. Also, the background textures are different, SoA uses a scratch effect whereas LaD uses a water damaged/rusted/weather worn background. And finally, the colour choice and use is better (in a general way) in the SoA art, because the reds work together rather than competing as they are in the LaD art. Descending down letters with a patched background under the letters and the letters MC somewhere near the back of the jacket. Only thing that's similar is the ink look to it. Mafioso86
I'd call it SOA influenced... not quite a ripoff though.
