Zotac motherboard issue

Hi all!,

I have recently bought a Zotac 8100 AM2/AM2+ motherboard and i have had nothing but problems with it. when i first got it, i put it in my case with my stock PSU (generic 400w) and it turned on for about 3 seconds then died and i would never get past the post. So i bought a new PSU, Antec earthwatts 430w, i plugged it in turned it on and bam same thing Except! after those first 3 seconds, every time i tried to turn it on again, it would power on for about .1 second and the fans would flick and my LEDs in my fan would flick on. So my question is...Is my mobo bad, or am i doing something wrong? I think the problem may be that it's grounding out. Any help would be great

First of all, take apart your entire PC and put it back together slowly.

While doing this, check if the RAM is burnt out (look for black burn marks where the gold connector area of the RAM sticks).

Also, try your RAM and CPU on another board and check if they work in that board.

I highly doubt that the RAM is causing this because it is brand new. And it would do the fan flick weather i had RAM, a cpu or my video card in it or not so it cant be them. I have seen some people say that when motherboards ground out or short out, they have a mechanism that wont let it turn on without resetting the "switch" or whatever controls it.

Yep, it could be just that. Try starting up the PC without a case.

I mean, take your board and PSU out and put it on some wooden surface and start up your PC. See if it works.
