boeing55
Also missing after applying patch #2, there use to be garbage trucks driving around at night with the workers holding on to the rear. I noticed that that is also missing now. and the construction on the street 2 bloicks east pf Roman's apt use to have workers holding signs. those are also gone. really crappy way of trying to gain fps by removing stuff from all over the game. Did they think that no one was going to notice???
JeffPwick
im so pissed bout that, seriously. Its so frustrating how R* fails, and hides/tries to hide the "way" they optimize the game - deleting items out of the game.

Aeka
Wow... There's 3 ver's of this game so far, if you count the orignal retail ver. And look how far it's progressed. Truly devestating...

GODzillaGSPB
Maybe the graphical settings have changed and there are less hot dog stands despite similar graphics settings. Turn up everything. No, that's not the reason. BTW: http://www.gtaforums.com/index.php?showtopic=395578 I think that's actually a good sign, could be proof that RS finally see that the patch is bugged. Maybe we'll see a new patch 2, soon, which will fix the missing objects. Edited February 1, 2009 by GODzillaGSPB

Aeka
No way can this be a bug... If you've ever used the map editor+object editor for gta3-sa you'de know that you have to physically remove an object one at a time. Now maybe they have some code that is running rampant I guess you could say. Causing diff value's not to equal out right. I think that would be a compilier prob... I think this was done on purpose for who knows what reason. But if it wasn't, there's some really crappy code in there or the compilier just blows balls. Edit: I'm sure they are using vistual c and the c console that comes with it. Most likely. I dn how reliable that program actually is, but I don't thik it would cause the probs. I'm wondering if they are using some opimizer plugins for it or something, that coudl very well cause the values to be off. A simple example would be: Optimizer see's that register EAX is being set to 0xFFFFFFFF. Then it see's the program red the reg AL, and never use EAX until it program's AX. So it repleaces the code that set's EAX to set AL instead. That's a simple example. I'm my coding experience I've found that there's some even strange examples that can happen, even when you know exactly how you're handling the code and you're the one doing the optimizatin by hand. My guess is that they are cutting corners with the code to make it smaller and faster, but never actualy fully checking the results out. This can happen and it's not something you should outright scream at someone for. I dn really know though I'm nto one of the dev's, plus the fact that most of the code is likely to be in c, there's probably very little of inline asm in there. Liekly in the size of the diff peices of code (I know you can define the size of diff varibles in c), and perhaps an optimizer. Or just plain they took these parts of the game out for whatever reason. .... Useless post of mine, just chatting I suppose. Random Trash And Clutter- like the name says, it also slows your computer and no one need it Handrails- Not sure Building site- well thats bigger but i don't care Hot dog stand- there is enough. much people are whining about FPS etc, so R* removed junk that nobody need Well that's f*cking pathetic. We already missing out on certain details before the patch, clock and tickers and yet instead of optimising the code which they claimed in the patch they removed stuff. I'm sorry but that is lazy, "sorry guy's our code is so f*cked up so instead of fixing it we'll remove stuff" I didn't pay full price for a game to have it looking more and more worse than the console versions. One of the big thing Rockstar boasted about was the "little details" in GTA 4 that made the city fell alive. Street sign- I care, what happened to realism huh i might as well go back to GTA 3 if they keep butchering the city. Benches- Again these little details made a difference and made the city feel alive watching NPC chatting to each other on the bench. Now it's just a blank spot. Random Trash And Clutter- My PC was handling GTA 4 reasonably well before the patch and i prefer the trash then the 2FPS increase which is pathetic. Handrails- Was handrails really so taxing on our PC's? Did the consoles have special chip that let them render the brutal handrails. Building site- Why not remove the Getalife building hell why not f*cking remove some bridges and a whole island that should help with FPS Hot dog stand- I shouldn't have to drive further to find one when there use to be one here. Shame it used to be that the PC version was the way to play GTA yet now it seem to be the consoles. I honestly don't know if i want any further patches from Rockstar as they do seem half assed. And since i have the Steam version there is no way to revert back to the unpatched version.
Aquaphonic
Well, I was unhappy before this patch as I got crappy frame-rates with my dual core chip. Now I'm kinda happy as the game runs much better, although I do feel somewhat short changed with all the missing stuff!

There is one thing GTA IV does brilliant, it's the details. Obviously you don't care for the details, fine. But then this topic is not for you. And it is also not for you to criticize the people who care about the lost details. People are different, be tolerant...or genetically different...whatever. Chris_Waddle
There are many, many things removed. I was trying the Liquidize The Assests mission last night (Warning, this links to a walkthrough) I thought I remembered how to do the level (I have it on X-Box) but when I went to jump on the blue skip (as part of the instructions show) I noticed it was no longer there. If you look at this picture from the mission, you will see what I mean. Now, when you try the mission you will find a completely empty yard. No skip, no rubbish etc. This is definately deliberate; you are able to jump straight onto the roof of the shed thing now, without the need of the blue skip. Whilst I am happy with the improvement in performance, I am not happy about things being taken out.
Voodooman
GUYS, EVERYONE WHO HAVE MISSING OBJECTS WITH 1.0.2.0\1.0.1.1 patches, please try to do thing i suggested here http://www.gtaforums.com/index.php?showtop...st&p=1058935669 Then post reports if objects will be on original place again. My original post Updated 1st post and coloured the difference between INT 1.0.1.0 and INT 1.0.2.0 ORANGE mean that files are old and didnt changed since previous patch. GREEN mean that files was changed since previous patch. RED mean that files new and recently added and was not included in previous patch GRAY mean that this files only unique for this version of patch and not presented in any other version folders included in listing not coloured, im not sure it makes any sense... anyway i will probably remove them from listing or will not, just was lazy to remove them when dumped file list with created bat file)) since russian patch is 1st and only one i dont have yet target to compare it with... but since its almost same as 1.0.2.0 for int i will compare difference between INT and RUS version but a bit later. IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT MISSING OBJECTS IN 1.0.2.0 PATCH!! All suffering from patch 1.0.2.0 and missing objects - since they was not missing in patch 1.0.1.0 (or probably no one noticed that ) and since only 2 possible files may handle this, and since one of them is GTAIV.exe and since i dont believe those things hardcoded the only possible file that makes these object to dissapear is: \common\data\cdimages\script.img well you guys should try to use patch 1.0.2.0 and just try to replace \common\data\cdimages\script.img update in patch 1.0.2.0 with same file from patch 1.0.1.0 and see if this will restore objects back, try this with \pc\data\gta_cache.dat file from 1.0.1.0 (i dont think that this file is responsible for anything but u will not die if u try). If this will not bring back missing objects then its probably hardcoded in GTAIV.exe(( Also try to replace 1.0.2.0 version of script_network.img with 1.0.1.0 one and see what changed in MP after this (as far as i know MP also have missing objects) U just need to download archive with unpacked files from all patches, and use common\data\cdimages\script.img and (2nd files optionally, try without it first, i just noticed that it was added in patch 1 and removed in patch 2, but im 99% sure this file have no effect) \pc\data\gta_cache.dat from patch 1.0.1.0 after u have installed 1.0.2.0 . I have not tested it yet because i dont know where exactly should be objects and where they not anymore) but basicly the idea is that patch 2 have just very few files updated, most of them are same as was in patch 1... Well im not sure if patch also didnt have objects missing... one guy reported that its work, another guy reported that its not work... in the case is script.img from 1.0.1.0 patch will not work try same file from retail version. And please report back results ASAP... and please try to look more carefull, i dont want to see placebo effects on some peoples if this not work, also dont want to see some blinds if this work

SWEETSAPRIK
For me, nothing is missing, it must be your settings guys... It's not settings. It's far more likely that you either don't have a version 1.0.2.0 executable, or you didn't play the game enough before this patch to notice what's missing. Right click your GTAIV.exe and check the version, then go to one of the places where things are missing and see if they're there. The construction site on the bridge is a good place to check, seeing as how after the patch basically everything there is missing. PяopagaиdaIиc. Voodooman
swapping the suggested files didn't work for me i answered u in that tread i started, if u cant see these objects even after u swaped 1.0.2.0 exe with 1.0.1.0 that its probably something with your eyes) because no else file than GTAIV.exe and SRIPT.IMG could handle objects settings. but maybe (damn i forget about that possibility) 1.0.2.0 stores all the settings in config files inside user directory, and when u changing back to previous files, these limitation settings may still remain.... so my last suggestion is try to remove all settings files from GTA IV user folder and try again to swap IMG file and see if objects there, and then exe swap (dont forget to swap also CAT, CFG if u will swap exe) See the full reply here http://www.gtaforums.com/index.php?showtop...st&p=1058936325
Dreakon
you are a troll, or a fanboi, or just a stupid f*g, its like when you buy a car it comes without the lights, the windows and the doors, but it cost less so you are happy I'm going to go out on a limb and say that doors, windows and lights are more important to a car than random garbage, benches and handrails are to GTA IV. I downloaded the patch and didn't notice any of these things missing, they can't be that important. For realisms sake though, they shouldn't have taken the stuff out... at least not without any kind of explanation or warning really.
gamerzworld
I just used a patch 1 exe with files patched by patch 2. The from what I can tell, everything is there. The missing hot dog venders and benches are present. So what does this mean? This means that there is most likely some bugged code in the spawning system, not removed items. Interesting thing to note when I did this, the advanced graphics options from patch 2 were present in patch 1, however, setting the vsync resets the other options like water.
