drumbago Posted January 25, 2009 Share Posted January 25, 2009 HI folks, I been playing multiplayer for a few months now, mostly race and GTA race. (xbox) What I am used to is the old SA-MP way of doing things where you had dedicated servers for racing, that had a points system based on finish position. What was great about these servers was that you would get the same people going to them, and communities and race clans developed. Now, I always play Ranked mode on MP, it just feels better to see my rank steadily rising, as I play. I still play for fun, but i still like to get some sense of "acheivement" while doing it. but it seems with ranked mode that players seem to get randomly distributed over a few different games (lobbys) so over the course of a few hours playing, I will play with the same people on some races, but not all of them. As if there are 3-4 "servers" that people are automatically flipped between. So really, my question is, is there anyway at all that you can play in ranked mode with the same people, thereby enabling you to develop friendships and clans, whilst still ranking up? **i'm guessing no........ It's great in unranked games, you play with the same people and dont always have to write your buddies in which game you are.. Thats why we need some freakin' dedicated Servers! Traffic and physics is messed up with more than 10 players.. The "special feature" for the pc, 32 players, is not really fun right now. But I am optimistic about dedicated servers.. Gears of War needed dedicated servers, too and never got them, the same will happen to GTA IV. I feel the same like you, I hate when I'm playing with my friends and suddenly the race ends and we're all splited up to various different servers. WTF... I would like to have dedicated servers, like MTA and SA-MP. But I don't think Rockstar will ever do that... bah.
