I'm skeptical. While I would enjoy a MMO GTA game, I would miss the single player option. The only problem is, judging by freemode games in GTA IV, everyone would just end up killing eachother. That wouldn't make a fun game if you ask me.

Introducing a PvP system, where you have to accept battles, that would be even worse. I think there's lots of things Rockstar would need to work out before GTA could even think of becoming a MMO. GTA IV:MP was a big step for them; I don't see the franchise shedding it's offline roots any time soon.

I predict by the time they decide to make an GTA MMO, the internet will be widely accessible by everyone. Whether it's via their home consoles or computers, or even through their TV. Everyone will have the internet and use it a lot more frequently. I don't think loosing the ability to play single player would matter then, because you'd be online pretty much all the time anyway.

Exactly this. They would have to find a way to prevent it from being thousnads of people running around the airport like half-wits just shooting each other. That would not be very fun. But i'm sure there are many ways they could eliminate this kind of thing. So i think an MMOGTA has great potential. But only if implemented right

I'm not a huge online gamer, but if I had the means to play a GTA MMO I'd like to.

The tards who don't understand that not all MP is deathmatch do take away from the fun. Maybe the server admins can ban them or something tounge.gif

MMO could be in the future but I wouldn't want it to completely come at the expense of the development of a single-player GTA.

WTF does MMO mean? I see people saying it all the time, but it's always abbreviated. confused.gif

This may not be a bad idea, Rockstar could do this and pull it off, but it would be a make or break decision and Rockstar doesn't make those type of decisions anymore (since Hot Coffee) confused.gif

I'm all for it, I love playing Online...it would be like World of War Craft, but with Guns, Drugs, Gangs, Cars, etc. happy.gif

The issue I have is that it will just be a life simulator basically.

Look at WoW, WoW is like a medieval fantasy life simulator. The player economy, the questing, etc.

I used to play WoW, and I quit that game. I can never imagine a GTA MMO due to the fact that it just wouldn't work, a modern MMO , what is there to do? Get a job at the local office?

Theres only so much you can do as a criminal with so many people. An MMO GTA would just not work.

a modern MMO , what is there to do? Get a job at the local office?

Or do a drive-by on the local office? wow.gif

Doesn't look like the response here is favorable towards anything like this however.

Then you'll have to do some quick explaining to your boss at the local office as to why you shot up his office biggrin.gif

We're talking about GTA right?

Explain with a couple shells getting emptied from dual-wield sawnoff shotguns into the boss's chest.

Then who's going to sign your players paycheck so he can buy the winged spaulders of the bull for his clothes ( wow joke , only some would get this probably )

Yeah, I wouldn't want a GTA MMO because I have dial-up and thus won't be able to play it. However, if you want a GTA MMO, get APB when it comes out. It's like a True Crime MMO too as you can play as cops or bad guys. We really need screens for APB already.

Those of you who think GTA MMO will simply be a "real-life simulator" are idiots. Just look at GTA as it is today: Is it a life simulator? No. Then why would it be if we suddenly put it online and let lots of other people join in? Saying that it would become a real-life simulator is the worst arguement I've seen against an GTA MMO.

You don't need to get a job in GTA now, so why would you in GTA MMO? You'd still obtain money via being a criminal and performing criminal acts. People think that it means we'll be the only inhabitants of the city; but there'd still be peds. We'd be filling in the position of criminal not citizen.

Single Player FTW!!!

There you can Modify the game without being caught out for cheating, or have a relaxing time on the Reefer in the middle of the Ocean fishing.

Multiplayer is for 3rd party modifcations only, not Rockstar.

What about GTA 2 & IV? wink.gif

Yep.

They fail.

Mods haev to be uninstalled...

And what exactly is wrong with Rockstar's multiplayer features in those two games? Just because you don't like them doesn't mean "they fail" (which, might I add, is the greatest arguement I've heard against something since I left 4chan).

Yeah i'v heard of that APB, will prob check it out when it eventually gets released.

I think GTA would be bad ass as a MMO. Imagine it, 3 - 5 diff gangs that you could work for. Missions would involve betrayls, massive shoot outs (50+ players), it would just be dam crazy and i'd be playing it all the time ha ha

Only problem with GTA as an MMO is the amount of grievers you would get. People would be doing missions trying to lvl up and you'd get people totally spawn camping and sh*t. Still, would be fun colgate.gif

I don't think any future GTA's will be an mmo.

Actually Dan Houser, in one of the interviews before IV's release, talked on this issue. And he said it was a possibility they were looking at for the future. But that doesn't mean it's coming any time soon, if at all
