Kryten42
Hi there, I hope to get some help here...maybe. I played GTA IV for quite some time now. Two weeks ago I bought new Hardware(see sig), since then I had the crash with the RESC10 error code. I tried a few commandline options, but nothing helped. Today I was really happy to see that a patch was released which should fix this crash. But after I updated the game, I still have this crash plus random game freezes. Sometimes its less than a minute after starting a game, most times its after a few minutes. Once I could play for like 10 minutes, but the it crashed with RESC10. I also noticed that I have low fps/lag when moving the camera. I cannot play even for a few minutes now without a freeze or RESC10 crash...this is really frustrating. I already updated my video drivers today, but nothing changed. Please release a hotfix or something so that I can play again! Kryten42
I did some further testing...it seems that I can play the game, when I set graphics to the level I had it with my old hardware. So everything to medium, mem usage about 500/1003. I will try to set it higher in steps to see when the freezes and crashes start. thales100
I posted bout this in another thread, try to disable the CPU oc, this may stop the game freezes. Bout RESC10, what is your resolution, 2560x1600, cause its weird to get a out of video memory error running a 1 gb VRAM card like the GTX 285. I have 1gb 667 (but i've ordered 4gb 800 mhz ) So..? Darecki
Yeah ;/ I don't wanna even think about what will happen when I get new RAM... Then I will put settings higher and I will get crashes after 5 seconds of playing Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/394184-last-patch-broke-game-for-me/#findComment-1058911755 Share on other sites
Kryten42
Im using the native resolution of my screen 1680x1050...shouldn be a problem. My mem usage is now about 900/1003. I have found a graphic setting where I can play most of the time, just when I have cutscenes it still sometimes crashes. As soon as I set anything higher I get crashes very fast. on my old rig I used even more vidmem than I had, and I didnt get any crashes.... And as mentioned in another thread, my OC is ver stable. As soon as my new cpu cooler arrives Im going to 3Ghz at least. And as long as every other game or stress test runs fine, I dont wanna turn it down just because of GTA. ...plus OCing is my hobby, I bought this stuff for that Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/394184-last-patch-broke-game-for-me/#findComment-1058913297 Share on other sites

Darecki
But.. For example I haven't Oc'ed anyhing and I also got this kind of crash after ~35 minutes of playing... That's really, f*cking annoying! Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/394184-last-patch-broke-game-for-me/#findComment-1058914413 Share on other sites
Kryten42
I tested without OC and its still the same. Although I found settings where I can play, I´m not very satisfied. I still get those RESC10 crashes from time to time (mostly in cutscenes, but not only) and I´m playing on graphic settings which are quite lower than I think they could be on my machine. Im using less than 900 of 1003 MB vidmem and with my old hardware setup I could even go above the "limit" without crashes. Well at least Im through with singleplayer now...but a shame I couldnt see most of the finishing cutscene to prevent a crash... Kryten42
Its a really strange thing here. I did read a bit more in the forums, and found some ppl with highend rigs who set -norestrictions, turned everything to very high and view distance to 100...and were able to play very good. Well, I thought I´d give it a try...turned graphics to max (all vh and view distance to 100 at 1680x1050) It showed me about 1500/1003 mem usage. At first I did a benchmark...as expected, it ran through fine, giving me nearly 34fps. I then started the game and expected RESC10 very fast or at least a freeze...well..nothing. I did a little helicopter flight over the city(veeery beatiful at night^^) and then a little amok run with the heli....until I died and quit the game everything was fine...I didnt even noticed low fps or something. So why the hell this game is giving me RESC10 and freezes at medium/high-medium settings, while I have no Problems when I max everything?? Ofc I only played about 15min, so I need some further "testing", but this feels already really strange....
