ttttkk
do i have to uninstall the game in order to apply the 1.01 patch? if i've already upgraded with the buggy 1.02.
Rockstar Toronto
Hi, I have patch 1.0.2. and I cant accomplish mission for Vlad - Clean Getaway. Garage cant be opened If you are experiencing the "Clean Getaway" issue where the mission cannot be completed, make sure you are using a legitimate copy of GTA IV PC. If you have a legitimate copy of GTA IV PC and you are still experiencing the issue, please make sure you are not using a cracked launcher (ie. the "no disc" launcher). Sunrise Driver
you are all busted for using cracks. As this guy said. The game does not have any problem...freeloaders cause them . u R*. Same. I want to say: don't scare legitimate users who bought the license game. Just passed this mission and didn't see any problems.

syrdax
Errr.. I just started a new game to see if all this is true in my game... well, no issues for me. IF, and I mean IF, Rockstar did something to screw cracked exes, this is an awesome work, really funny Maybe other games should learn ^^ I know that Razor and other guys will get a fix on this, but is funny to see after a patch how many people have "issues", while, really, I don't have them at all. I'm really starting to guess where those so many graphic issues from so many people come from

Dcrysis02
great copy protection much better than sh*tty securom!!! carry on in that way!! Too bad that the patch f**ked up the game for the people who actually bought the game. Some get worse performance than before, few hotdog stands and construction sites dissappeared.....bravo R* keep this up! shivanandrs
great copy protection much better than sh*tty securom!!! carry on in that way!! Well it still uses securom but when the user try to bypass the protection then the bugs occur. I love it. Great work! I hope more developers use this method in future games. kn00tcn
i like the bug idea too, but maybe they should be less vague & more annoying drunk cam is a start, tripping when you run could be another, maybe your car could explode for no reason, or billboards with altered text

I know that it still has securom. but i think this is a pretty alternative of copy protection. so the developer has also a demo. and you give the guys the first dose of the new drug for free. but then you have to pay for more fun. I think it's more clever then punishing us legal buyers with this securom and nocd xlive stuff. Anyway it's a good start.

syrdax
I'm not assuming anything, but is strange that there's a lot of people without the issue; I mean, I started a new game just to check, and the game goes fine. So, something must be wrong.

If you have a legitimate copy of GTA IV PC and you are still experiencing the issue, please make sure you are not using a cracked launcher (ie. the "no disc" launcher). So I was about to post in this thread because I was having the same problem... and after seeing the official response that no-dvd cracks were to blame, I was going to say: "Well I have a legit copy/valid cd-key, but I need that crack to play in Windows 7 because the securom launcher won't work!" But then I thought: "Well I did have trouble even getting the crack to work, messing with compatibility/administrator settings and stuff..." So, I decided to give the original launcher another try and crossed my fingers expecting to see the same damn error messageas before, but the game launched! Excited, I tried the mission again and what do you know, no glitch! Vlad called right on cue. Bottom line: The patch isn't to blame at all... cracks are. In fact, the patch is amazing; the game is actually playable now on high texture settings and slowdowns are now few and far between.
limzm
Whether or not you guys realized, even without the bypasser or I mean every file is legit, you can still launch the game without going through the validation by just launching GTAIV.exe rather than LaunchGTAIV.exe. (which I think it's just plain stupid. zzzzz)

You want to say that it crashes becasue xliveless or becasue xliveless not being present? Because I have xliveless and it works without any issues. If you don't have to use the loader, then you don't need the Securom to be installed either. But you do need to have the original launcher+gtaiv exe installed. mkey82
Because when I have the original files, I am able to launch the game just by using GTAIV.exe with XLiveLess. I'll do a fresh install and give it a try. However, I did notice that some other games had this type of "bypass technique" And to think they spent 200000$ on that scheme. They would do better had they thrown a party instead.
expiorer
try using gtalauncher from another directory and configure it to start in gta4 directory. The game will see only the original launcher.
shivanandrs
so the developer has also a demo. and you give the guys the first dose of the new drug for free.but then you have to pay for more fun. Im guessing that to convert the full vesion of GTA IV to a demo will be alot of extra work and for what? Most people are already familar with previous versions so they know what to expect game-play wise. Alot of people may or may not have seen/played/heard about the xbox version before it was released for the pc so they would know its an excellent game. Performance wise....if u know that ur got a sh*t pc, don't buy it. If you know that you did not build your pc for gaming, don't buy it. If you got the game as a gift and it won't run, don't b*tch. You did not buy it. You cannot blame R* because you bought the game and it would not run on your dad's pc. Just buy a console instead.
