mYkSiNaToR
With this patch, my game still slutters as hell - I play for like 30 minutes and suddenly it becomes unplayable. It doesn't completely freeze, but the fps is like 1-2-3... Usually I get around 20-25. What should I do - it used to be fine, it started throwing me in the desktop, I re-installed Windows and now this... I don't wanna do another re-install. Lil' Prophet
Install WinMem Optimizer, and when you start to experience these problems, press alt+tab, and optimize your memory. logitechdog
allot of games have memory freeing code put into the game to solve memory leaks... don't know what software they use for findig leaks, but I use ANTS Profiler it will find the problems in hours depending on how many they got, as works in real time as the application is running, with they machines, pritty good program... thats the only option they will put into it... as finding leaks in a application this size takes long time.... so you can either use one or wait for them to add it Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/394047-epic-fps-drop/#findComment-1058907953 Share on other sites

logitechdog
why did you reinstall windows? you can probably install it 100x times and still be left with the same problem you probably did not set it up for your ram ammount... cutthroat_tactics
Try this before you go burn down Canada. Make a text file called commandline.txt in your GTAIV directory. Then open it up and put at least these commands into it: -memrestrict 1029145600 -minspecaudio -DX9 Save and close it, then find the GTAIV.exe file in your directory and make a shortcut to the desktop. Put the -memrestrict 1029145600 into the target line too, after the text there. Try the game and see if it helps. That -memrestrict command helped me when I found it on another thread, but the numbers that were given were too low to help, so I cranked it up to whatever number that would be. 10 gigs of system memory or something. Anyway, I could play for more than 30 minutes right after doing that because of that FPS drop problem, meaning it probably helps load and keep all the buildings in the game in memory and doesn't f*ck up the loading of everything while you're playing that causes that problem. mYkSiNaToR
Hmm, seems it works. Thank you, I just played for like 2 hours smoothly. But I got also this - http://www.gtaforums.com/index.php?showtopic=390733&hl= I've done the trick here and although it didn't help I will not reset it, who knows...
