In my opinion I'm f*cking glad they hardcoded the game-modifying files. I'd rather not have cheaters online. tounge.gif

Yes, very happy. We are both happy, just engaged. We´re not yet considering marriage to avoid bigger dramas when 1.0.3.0 arrives.

Your CPU is still below minimum spec though so you are lucky you can even play it.

Patch has been ok for me so far, acctually added a couple frames with increasing settings a little, probably because my vid card is now being used 90% instead of 60 as it was before.

Talk about CPU limited. Jesus, why did you buy the x2? You should have bought a quad and more DDR for the price and gotten a single 4870. Then you would have been playing this game with at least double the fps. The only thing you can do is overclock that processor, because almost all of your fps problems are the cpu. And btw a roughly 20% increase in fps from one patch is NOT bad.

Good:

The game is smoother and I got a slight FPS boost.

Bad:

Multiplayer still sucks for me. I'll be playing along just fine with my FPS around 25-30, but if I die I suddenly get about 2 FPS and I get the "your computer is too slow" message that exits me out to single player... That pisses me off! It needs to just kick you back out the lobby.

Also, they need to put a Multiplayer option in the main menu still. This whole going through your phone thing is really annoying, especially since it keeps kicking me back out.

Also the no modding sucks, but I'm sure there'll be a workaround for that soon.

From reading through all the posts regarding the new patch, it seems that there is a definite 50/50 split between those who have improvements and those that have new problems.

Unfortunately I fall into the latter category. Before the patch I was relatively happy with the performance that my above-average machine was managing, unlike the people with average computers. It seems that the patch HAS improved things for them, giving them a 3-5 fps increase which may have been as much as 25-30% for them.

However, since the patch I am unable to even play the game, it just keeps freezing solid after about 2 minutes of gameplay. Only option is CTRL-ALT-DEL and end the game that way.

There is also a complete lack of any method to remove the patch without a total re-install.

To summarize, seeing as Rockstar never tested the game properly at release, why should they bother testing a patch properly?

Just for info...running a totally un-modded version, with NO commandline parameters at all...I didn't need them, game ran sweet with no problems...BEFORE the patch!

having no internet access since patch 1.0.2 and stucking in the mission progress with vlads "clean getaway" i say this patch should get nuked. mind u these are no minor problems we are talking here about. i don't care about flickering shadows but if the game is not playable it's brocken.

r* please add another month of testing for your QA team!

Well funny thing... the patch has done a lot over here. I am able to play it on all of my computers now. It plays very smooth with 25+ frames on most and my 60+ frames computer it just flys. Finally, however I am still a little upset I had to go through this crap and looking at it, now other people have too. I'm sorry for you guys.

My benchmark came back with 60+ frames and only about 60% cpu usage. Finally man, I was sick of the 60+ frames and 90+% usage. I also don't have the double speed problem anymore.

But out of all this good I can see other problems I didn't before. However they are very minor to what I had and somewhat don't care, Thank GOD! Finally I can play. Some thanks back to Rockstar Toronto.

About Damn TIME!

I'm happy too.. the game is now far from beeing perfect, but the patch 2 made it run much more smooth and i gained a few fps avg. too biggrin.gif thats really nice.. maybe if another 2 patches of that quality would come in the next months, the game could be almost fixed biggrin.gif

Just played for a few minutes so I can't comment on crashes but it's great now! I bought it on release and have until now left it unplayed but now will enjoy playing with it running as it should have done. smile.gif

getting better. My fps has possibly gone up a little bit with all the new settings turned off.

I'm just glad the video configuration page in the menu finally looks like a PC game now. Almost running out of place for all those options.

Not here, thats not what this thread or this forum is for. And no, I will not be responsible for you frying your processor. You sound like a novice and I'm not going to tell a novice how to overclock. if you really want to learn, do a google search, and you'll find out.

Sounds like you have the clip capture leak and perhaps you didn't before? While actually playing press escape and go to the game section and turn clip capture off then restart the game,, and report back if that resolves the sudden low fps issue you are having. I had this issue and that resolved it for me with the original version and the version 1 patch and now the version 2 patch as well... thumbs up R* you ,,,,,grrr...

DUH!

the performance DID improve and the missing dynamic shadows with crossfire/sli setups did get fixed and the advanced graphic setup screen is great! but now the gameplay seems f*ed up so what to conclude?

Yeah, I'm very happy about that ***§$$§ of bytes called patch.

Now I can play NOOSE online even with a crash after a couple of seconds!

Superb..

Or after 1 minute of free mode crusing down a road..

And all the people think I'm leaving.. that_guy2057_evilgrin.gif

I never played a game in my life that was more often crashing than GTA IV..

sorry but gta4 only crashed for me with the rsc10 error with patch 1.0.1 after around 1 to 3 hours of gameplay with forcing 80% viewdistance and high textures enabled. i dunno either the new patch cured this a little or not due to having it played only a short time.

So far, I'm satisfied with the patch. Memory leak issues have been fixed, and the frame rate is uniform throughout the game. I'm getting probably a steady 32fps all around (Night or day, rain or sunshine). My Logitech controller works perfectly. All that's left is to incorporate AA and fix the damn shadows, and i'm good. I think Rockstar is definitely on the right track.
