Xenova Posted January 31, 2009 Share Posted January 31, 2009 In second patch i saw much more memory leaks : / More random crashes for me as I managed to loose the 'out of memory' errors all together after a long time of messing, it doesn't mean that it would work for everyone. As per a previous post, i finally managed to get the game to run without any out of memory errors with the following commandline entries: -noprecache -memrestrict 629145600 that *fixed* the memory errors until i patched to 1.0.2.0. After that i had the problem back. But after reinstalling the game and reparing other issues in-game i added those arguments to the commandline.txt and the game runs without 'out of memory errors' however it doesn't get rid of the random crashing graphical glitches that seems to plague this game. You may want to look into disabling aero while the game is running as it would provide slightly better performance. Documentation is here It sure disables it for me. If you Alt+Tab while in game, you should see that Aero is off, and has the abysmal off-blue surround around other windows (if you have, say for example a explorer window open) unless there is some issue with DWM and GTA IV, but its not one ive personally encountered. However, I know there is a tweak for allowing Aero to continue running with full-screen apps though... I'm not running any tweaks or anything. Are you sure you haven't set the DWM options for GTAIV in the EXE's properties? Nope. I've left the settings as default. I do use Vista Manager so maybe that has set a setting for all 3D apps. Not sure. But my desktop composition and also visual themes for GTA IV are unchecked. and i have the grotty off blue window surrounds when the game is running. Also when i run the GTA windows always displays the balloon saying 'The colour scheme has been changed to vista basic. A running program is not compatible with certain visual elements of Windows' If anyone else is experiencing your issue then maybe its because i have vista manager... zv'jer2 Posted January 31, 2009 Share Posted January 31, 2009 I posted this same comment on another topic, but I never received a proper response… therefore, I am posting it here as well: Rockstar, I want to know if you’re going to address the issue of the items that were removed from the game (as a result of this latest patch); items such as traffic cones, temporary fences, hotdog venders, etc. These may not seem like much, but they do affect the overall aspect of how the game is now played. First, were these items removed intentionally? If so, for what purpose? Second, is there going to be any attempt to put these times back into the game? Third, were there any other removals from the game that were not as obvious as the aforementioned items? Have any other aspects of the game been altered? I believe that an official response regarding this issue should be in order. Whether this was intentional on your part or not, this has now changed the PC version of GTA IV in relation to it’s console counterparts. Game play is now different, even if it still only constitutes minor changes. I, as well as several other PC Gamers, would consider a response in this matter to be something that should be taken seriously, and it would also be greatly appreciated. Rockstar Toronto is so eager to respond to those who have errors because they have the cracked version, but when someone mentions the missing objects problem they just dissapear... no responses to that problem at all. After I've played for a couple of days intensively I can really tell the difference between the game before and after this patch 1.0.2 or like we should call it: "The Detail Remover". The game looks less detailed and there are many little objects/effects missing (not just the hot dog vendor). The main difference between GTA: SA and GTA IV is the DETAIL and now the game looks washed up and more like San Andreas. And all that removed for what!? 5 FPS more!!!??? Like it matters, the texture missing and stuttering after 30 mins of gameplay are still here. THIS IS NOT A PATCH! It's just an object remover and it ads sliders and toggles in graphics options that we were already applying through the commandline with all those tweaks. This is a really, really lame way to "fix" unoptimized games Rockstar! You directly damage your faithfull customers WHO GAVE MONEY TO YOU! After all hopes and dreams since the release of this crappy port that you call a PC game I finally GIVE UP and can assure you that I'll never buy a Rockstar game again. Please post a screenie if possible so we can see your graphical settings. Are you using any commandline arguments? And then I just install the patch, go to the options screen, and wtf.... where's all that stuff that they promised in this patch (shadow quality settings, etc,etc) ? It's just not there..... And so with curiosity I checked the GTAIV.exe file version. It's still 1.0.1.0. Tried to extracted it manually from the Nullsoft Installer file, and yep... it's still 1.0.1.0. MP5 Posted February 1, 2009 Share Posted February 1, 2009 I don't suppose the patch has anything to do with a random character that you could kill (Clarence) not showing up, does it? After all, I completed the mission involving him days after installing the patch, but completed missions involving the option to kill Ivan and Cherise long before the patch came in. Maybe they thought people wouldn't notice missing objects and uselessness of this patch before releasing it... Gerry mission , pick up bomb ok , but in patch 1.0.2.0 where is the bomb , there are no object`s like dumpster`s etc .. kettleblack Posted February 6, 2009 Share Posted February 6, 2009 With the 1.0.2.0, my game has been running better but I can't hide and fire a weapon or just blind fire as the game just crashes. Tried taking out the vsync and even putting the all the sliders maxed and very high to low or off for the rest and nothing the game just crashes after I try to hide and fire. I payed money for this f*cking game and look, the garage is closed and no phone from f*cking vlad. I have to downgrade the game huh? there is a lot of bugs in older patch what about it. And microphone doesn't work,i works with all other e.skype,messenger,steam chat etc. but not in GTA. And how i can change control settings? Same with houses, they're foggy like in a f*ckin' SA. Plus the reflections in water are going crazy, swaying from one side to another.
