copperwire93
False, unless Rockstar seriously f*cked up the game to require 4 gigs to not bug out but only use less that a half of that. GTAIV here uses up to 1.5GB RAM. Okaay then, whatever! as long as you are the happy person
EliteF22
This sucks. I just installed this patch and its killed some of my mini games. Darts, bowling, and lap dances all lock the game up. Strangely pool seems to work fine, but its hard to build like up with npc's when half the places they like crash my game.
soiramk
I used to get freezes & crashes after installing the second patch, sometimes it would play for a little while & then the framerate would drop to 3fps then back up to normal, then back to 3fps, usually forcing me to CTRL+ALT+DEL my way out of the game, VERY annoying!!, where as with just the first patch it was fine for hours & never crashed, except my framerate was lower due to just having patch 1 installed. I then tried Vista 64bit Ultimate (im on 32bit XP) & with all the current 64bit drivers for my system it actually made things much worse, framerate was much lower & the game stuttered poorly. I went back to XP then installed the Nvidia 182.05 beta drivers & im now playing for hours with the second patch installed, with my GTX260 & X2 6000+ im seeing 50-60fps in the actual game with lows of 25 minimum, its running like a charm now, I actually get a better framerate in the game rather than the benchmark. Obviously this is only for nvidia users, & it might not work for everyone but its fixed all my problems & ive been playing it for days now without any problems. At what settings you get those fps(50-60, minimum 25)?

W1ckeD-
Same here man , like a breezeee. Some things can't be changed , because they have to compile the whole game again, and that's impossible to do right now. We have to trust what they are doing, sure it's not a good start but did you guys saw the Saints Row 2 Port?

But I know what your saying. I've got the time, and plenty of other games to hold me over until RS gets it together. Don't get me wrong, I really enjoy the game when its running well. HitZoor
The issues I have with the latest patch is Textures "refreshing" when you're just next to them, as if they reload. Sometimes textures "scar" and distort if you move the camera around. What's up with the gray people in the distance? Cars that are further than 15 metres away from you have no driver. I don't remember people faces being completely blurred out when they are about 10-20 metres away from you in 1.0.1.0. Haven't had any problems with computers not working or objects dissappearing. I'm running EVERYTHING at MAX with the following specs: Gigabyte X58 UD4P I7 920 @ stock 6GB OCZ Gold GTX 285 @ stock Vista Ultimate 64-bit

Game still has issues. Well considering the majority of the time its 50-60fps & only hitting 25's under intense action thats not "bad" performance considering the nature of this game, I would consider poor performance to be in the 20's consistently, its good considering how buggy & poorly coded people say it is, im more than happy with that result considering how many people cant seem to even get the thing to run at all, let alone a decent fps, some even with SLI setups. Fact is the game isnt really THAT bad, a little time spent messing about with settings, getting a driver it likes & it runs perfectly, or at least thats how it all went for me, at first it ran like sh*t & I felt it was a complete waste of money, although I only paid £9.99 anyway :-) Edited February 17, 2009 by madbaker

MuonDecay
PATCH 3 please.... JALLA or else i have to break the window and steal a PS3 or an XBOX360 Cmon now Rockstar! The game runs just as slow on both consoles. Believe me, I've tried. Try driving a fire truck in the rain on the PS3 version sometime. You can't read the framerate numbers on a console but judging by the stuttering I'd guess it was at about 13, which is on par with my computer (even though my computer is considerably less powerful than a PS3, go figure). So I was just wondering. xD *sigh* Sadly this game is still addictive no matter how poor the performance is...

szabogabor10
Thanks Rockstar, Certainly improved FPS and gameplay considerably. I'm experiencing the same bugs reported. i.e. not able to use computers. Also Cannot complete MISSION: CLEAN GETAWAY. Many Mission attempts, even after restarting the game. Vlad never calls to say take the car for a wash and cannot park it away. Good Stuff RockStar, if the bugs could be ironed out it would be plain Sailing. Cheers When you want to play the game normally, then BUY GTA IV.

madbaker
Strange as I dont have any of those problems & im running the latest patch, so logic dictates that it cant be the patch causing the problems, must be something else, this sure is the most problematic game for some out there. Dcrysis02
I hope Toronto tweaks the cellphone functions a bit in the upcoming patch. If that is even possible.I hate it when a mission is completed, the game saves, and automatically shuts off sleep mode so that Roman can annoy me.Even if i don't pick it up Nico automatically calls Kate so i'm screwed and need to reload my last save. It's also bad that before Romans wedding,no one is available for some fun.I can understand those who go to the wedding don't have time but Packie and Dwayne are not there so what's the reason behind this?
