noid449
not to be rude but thats a basic cpu prob .. for start as you know its just low spec pc .. Oh yeah, low spec without doubt. But I CAN play, and upgrading is not feasable for a little while still. But you concur then that my CPU is the weakest link? I wouldn't agree at the moment, if you look at my other threads and this one you will see results are now mixed about wheather gta is CPU hungry beast, because i have a core i7 at 4.0ghz and i'm getting crap performance so were trying to figure this out right now and debunk this CPU only story, cause it isn't looking likely atm yeah ive read them and i think thats a different issue, as far as his pc spec go, its under minimum, so he`s fighting against it even running with no errors or any problems yours is basically low vram its pretty much that your chip prb compensates alot for it but there will be a point it just isnt enuff, just my look on it .. no expert Edited January 24, 2009 by noid449

(If you believe the reqs. listed on box). I guess what I am trying to figure out what I need to upgrade first, when I do get around to it. A better Video card (which also means a new power supply) or a QuadCore Processor (Which will need win64 to be fuly functional).

n3b0dy66
Well some progress has been made. I asked somebody with a 9800 GT and a intel quad core cpu to run a bench for me his results note: my CPU OC to 3.00GHZ, this is my most close res, results should be the same anyway. no performance mods and no commandline, just second patch. Statistics Average FPS: 46.87 Duration: 37.18 sec CPU Usage: 51% System memory usage: 75% Video memory usage: 81% Graphics Settings Video Mode: 1600 x 900 (60 Hz) Texture Quality: Low Render Quality: Low Reflection Resolution: Low Water Quality: Low Shadow Quality: Low View Distance: 10 Detail Distance: 10 Definition: Off VSync: Off Hardware Microsoft Windows XP Professional Service Pack 3 Video Adapter: NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GT Video Driver version: 181.22 Audio Adapter: Realtek HD Audio output Intel® Core™2 Quad CPU Q6600 @ 2.40GHz Now i ran the same benchmark with my 4.0ghz proccesor and i got this Statistics Average FPS: 48.58 Duration: 37.09 sec CPU Usage: 26% System memory usage: 30% Video memory usage: 60% Graphics Settings Video Mode: 1600 x 900 (60 Hz) Texture Quality: Low Render Quality: Low Reflection Resolution: Low Water Quality: Low Shadow Quality: Low View Distance: 10 Detail Distance: 10 Definition: On VSync: On Hardware Microsoft® Windows® XP Professional x64 Edition Service Pack 2 Video Adapter: NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GT Video Driver version: 181.22 Audio Adapter: SB Audigy 2 ZS Audio [EC00] Intel® Pentium® III Xeon processor Intel® Pentium® III Xeon processor Intel® Pentium® III Xeon processor Intel® Pentium® III Xeon processor Intel® Pentium® III Xeon processor Intel® Pentium® III Xeon processor Intel® Pentium® III Xeon processor Intel® Pentium® III Xeon processor Just 2 fps higher then him. In previous testing few pages back i ran a test at 2.4ghz then i ran it at 4.0ghz and got 2 fps increase as well. Now the guy with the x2 2.8ghz phenom got 4 fps higher then me in the same bench, Though he has vista 7 and i'm using xp 64 so i'll look into OS performance later on. However going by what is being shown between me and him i'm starting to believe that the CPU IS NOT THE MOST IMPORTANT THING in this game like HARDWARE review sites have claimed it to be and that my video card is the bottleneck in definitely. However this doesn't explain why another guy with 2.4ghz got much lower score by far, though it might be something with his settings and also still doesn't give a clear shinning as to how other G92 users are getting higher fps with same cards, though they might have factory overclocked. So right now i'm going to overclock the sh*t out of my card and do further benching. If we can get more quad core users with G92 video cards to post benchmarks similiar to these settings and share there results maybe together we can finally solve and have a complete understanding of where performance should lie and help rockstar with the information they need since they are indefinitely monitoring this thread. noid449
trying to compare similar systems isnt any good just cos same card or same cpu so many different programs or ways he installed drivers , if he has stuff differenent registry so many variables if yours runs ok then enjoy .. after my upgrade on c2duo to quad lots more smoother not alot more fps tho, but still waiting for new motherboard so can run system properly getting it end of month

Then it wont make much difference apart from the same video cards and quad core at least at 2.4ghz intel. The margin of error would be about 2-5fps the most. So anyways please try to get those bench's if you have a 8800 GT GTS 9800 GT 9800 GTX

Raythemovie
I keep turning Vsync on and benchmarking, and the settings still show it on,but the benchmarks just suddenly started showing VSYNc as being off Are you serious? Vsync limits your FPS. If you want to do a benchmark it wants to see your max FPS, so if you have Vsync on it'll limit it, and that's why it keeps turning it off.
