Cool patch, now when i'm speeding though star junction it doesn't hack, but the game goes slower. Also the computers don't work, but i don't care anyway. Good patch icon14.gif

Postin my benchmark results soon.

Whenever I make a commandline.txt and put it in the GTAIV folder and try to start the game, it freezes at the credits.

I'm just putting that file in the programfiles/rockstargames/GTAIV folder, right?

I ran a benchmark to see any difference with patch. the settings always autodetect and never save after 1.1 patch so i tested with autosettings. im using a custom benchmark clip found in the link below. put it in this folder.

\Grand Theft Auto IV\pc\data

you can put your own custom benchmarks there too, just take a clip from your mydocuments\rockstar\clips folder. theyre *.cli rename it to benchmark.cli and put it in said \^^^\ folder.

did they change independence radio in 2nd patch? it plays user tracks. other times its like a talk radio station and after there done talkin it kicks back to the user tracks.

anyone else have this prob??

It always was like that because that's how it was intented to be...

oh... is there any way to turn off the talk radio part and just have your own music playin??

In "audio" tab in options, change the independence fm to "shuffle" or "sequential" instead of "radio".

Lagging is still in action for me, but I have noticed that the new water effects are pretty cool. A patch that is about 32 MB does not do drastic changes in the performance. I guess the performance patch will have at least 200 MB (sorry for stealing someone´s sentence few pages ago). This patch is more like a minor update to some problematic issues, so the gameplay will be slightly better till they finally fix the lagging problems and release the most essential patch of all, well I hope.

R* thanx for the patch, the patch DID some changes on the game, but the real problem is not fix. I hope you are working on the performance problems and will release another patch to put big smiles on unhappy-swearing players faces.

This patch has greatly improved performance in a lot of areas (for me).

However.. after about 10 minutes of playing, my game drops down to 1 FPS and eventually exits, with a message letting me know that I have run out of virtual memory.

I am currently using about 800 megs of the 1014 that are available, so no, I am not even close to using all of my memory (which shouldn't really matter anyways, as this only affects my graphics card and not my virtual memory).

How's that for a memory leak? Lmao.

Any ideas?

Thanks R*, you f*cked up my game with this patch

yeah, my game wont work either since the new patch. it just shows the dos screen as before and then nothing. no error, no nothing... confused.gif//

You shouldn't be getting the dos screen anymore with the new patch

yeah, i reinstalled the patch and it worked then, and you're right theres no dos screen... but however, I've got another problem. I was playing for some time, and then something blew (there was nothing around me biggrin.gif) and the game crashed. Now I get GTA IV FATAL ERROR: XNetStartup failed - Please re-boot your system and/or re-install the game 10093. I tried the reboot, but not in a mood to reinstall... any help?

my logitech dual action gamepad isnt working like it was before.

and before you say it, yes i added -usedirectinput to my desktop shortcut, and when that didn't work i took it out of there and created the commandline.txt file in the GTA IV directory and put that in there and it still didnt work.

i don't use it very often but i like to use it for races.

must be nice...i'm still only averaging ~ 21-22 fps in the test no matter what my res

AMD x2 4400+ OC'd to 2.6ghz

3GB ram (although XP is only showing 2.5)

512mb 8800GT

although i was running FRAPS and playing a multiplayer game at night at the airport and was actually getting 35-40fps at one point... it felt great, lol.

unfortunately in the city most of the time its only getting ~ 15fps

Performance is better, but what is 'Definition' ?

It's a motion blur I guess. But you could turn on/off this option by pressing "P" before the patch.

Huge performance increase, but now I get all kinds of screen tearing on buildings, cars, pillars, etc.

Hope someone can sort this out.

Enable VSync. It will lock your max FPS to your monitor's refresh rate to prevent tearing.

VSYNC is enabled! And I've turned it off and turned it back on again to see if it fixed it. Nope.

I still get the texture tearing.

Your CPU is a huge bottleneck. At some point an upgrade will be in order. Intel Q6600 are cheap now. You can't get blood from a stone.

Well I have 2 installs - Dual Boot system (2 rockstar folders side by side one "Rockstar Games" for XP and other "Rockstar Games VISTA" for vista used on install so registry links to that exact folder name both folders on the same drive).

I patched the vista install and ran it ... well, no surprise jittery as normal fps still shoddy.

So I simply went into XP swapped the names of the install folders so the install in XP would then use the patched version (the current XP one is 1st patch using a few mods and I dont go online with it), and ... loverly, could have everything "very high" but shadows only "high" and all running at the fps im used too anyway (nothing worse) and the reflections look real nice on roads and when raining. For me on the same machine Vista still runs like sh*te, XP works real nice.

PS - Legit copy and license for both installs etc.

All ref my spec etc is in my sig "Tweaks Thread".

Nice patch, good work R* icon14.gif

Aha, so it could be the o/s that is the determining factor with the patch.. interesting.

Thanks for the report Monkey. I upgraded to 1.02 from 1.0 last night and find the game is stuttering whereas it didn't before. Perhaps the fact that I'm running Vista is the problem with this patch..

I may have to deinstal and re-install with 1.01 now.. sad.gif

Yeah, same here and I'm seeing some texture popup.. sad.gif

Definetely worse than v1.0 even though benchmark fps has gone from 38fps to 43fps.. Weirddd..
