Fanchen
After the patch I'm not able to minimize the game (have to do that via task manager, otherwise I see the taskbar, but I don't see any opened windows etc.). It crashed 3 times until I was able to load my save. I have about 20% less fps (I didn't do a benchmark, maybe I'll do that later. With shadow, water etc. settings I believe are equal to the settings before the patch, I have up to 15 fps with a view distance of 30 and detail of 80. Before the patch I had the view distance at 80 and up to 30 fps. E6850 @3GHz 8800GT, 512 MiB 8 GiB RAM Vista 64 Bit

I want to know, Rockstar, what are the settings in "Reflection Resolution", "Water Quality" and "Shadow Quality" in 1.0.0.0 or 1.0.1.0 version of the game. SlingShotUK
Remember that this patch resets all of your setings. I had to go in and setup right controller invert and all the graphic options. Be aware that it seems to default to pretty high settings (texture high etc). Shadow Detail seems to have a big effect on FPS I found. At 'Very High' it really made my game feel choppy. I then lowered it to 'Medium' and while shadows flicker the game experience is a lot smoother. Saying that, I still think the game judders more than it did with v1.0 even though I've gone rfom 38fps to 43fps on the benchmark.. Just wish I could run with textures high. I did try this and it worked a lot better than in v1.0 but on some areas of the map the game really slowed down.. I'm ok with medium though.. I just don't think my Phenom 9950 and Nvidia 8800GTX is enough for high textures just yet.

Try lowering Shadow Detail to medium or low. That should improve FPS, at least my small tests ingame seemed to infer that was the case.
wesley123
seem like those 3 settings have been rejected from the resolution, so now you dont need to tweak. I will just try the patch, and if my frames are bad i will stick back
MrNoHelp
Based from what I read about the new patch. A newer one could fix current problems or different machines different problems? I still wonder about the lagging problems. For me, One time, I have played GTA for 3 hours and no lagging. Another time, I played 5 minutes and the game lagged as hell. After patch 1.0.1, the lagging problems appeared randomly, not an instant (without any patch applied), which is a great improvement, but I still don't know if the laggus problemus is still an issue. Do you still have lagging problems after some gameplay? or the problem is fixed?

I get the sand look all the time and no matter on wich settigs! 1920x1080 is too heavy for my card and laggs like f*cking hell. Its not optimized again! C* can suck fake dicks. The_Caretaker
Intel i7 920 @ 3.4ghzGTX 295 6GB Ram 64 FPS @ 1920 x 1200 everything high/highest, except textures because it won't let me set them to high. It doesn't let you pick highest settings with that GPU? I thought that beast had 1700 VRAM, should be enough to max out of 1920x1200 (maybe not draw distance)
thaCURSEDpie
The new patch doesn't seem to have any effect on my machine, better or worse. Same here, it doesn't really change anything. I hope it'll be like this: Patch 1: small patch to make the game playable, remove some bugs (30MB IIRC) Patch 2: small patch to make the game playable, remove some more bugs. (32MB) Patch 3: big patch to increase performance by a huge margin. (100MB atleast) <--That's what I'm hoping for

bukkit
fine patch , i love the 'very high' option of shadow quality, much better then high shadow. no fps problems at all (like before) really a nice one

(100MB atleast) <--That's what I'm hoping for Good luck with that Yeah On a side note: this patch actually DOES boost my performance a bit . I can now drive on the freeway with 30-34fps, before it was 23-25. This is a big difference. (I had to remove the "-windowed" switch, that did the trick. And adding "-availablevidmem 1.8" helped too ) Now I hope they will keep up the good work and get working on a third patch. (they can take their time this time around, the game is now actually playable)
GTA_XP
32MB is only bunch of clownjokes. If a patch is under 200mb, I dont except any optimize/boost.

Avean
Seems like VSYNC was the option that hold the performance back. I went from 36fps to whoppin 48fps after this patch. This on everything Maximum on 1920x1200. That is extremely good.

Aquaphonic
Game runs a lot smoother now, and I love the new graphics options. Shadows look a bit better too. Still runs a bit crappy on my dual core though, but that's not R*'s fault since they do recommend quads.
