Danishkhan
The long awaited DLC finally has been dated and ready for release but I don’t think everyone’s happy to hear that. When GTA4 came out last year it broke records in sales but the problem was that alot of people didn’t like the game for various reasons and ended up trading there copies in. There are 4 HUGE factors that will stop GTA’s DLC from selling. Source
Gunde
No it won't. There's a whole hell of lot of people who bought the game and loved it who don't appear on messageboards. They'll buy it and so will most of us here
JOSEPH X
I`ll already have DLed it by the time I find out if it`s a flop
Mae King Fuch
#1.f*ck street fighter! #2.20 bucks is a fair price, unless your poor. #3.i love the bikes,as do many others. #4what?
AnotherDave
1. Street Fighter? I think I'll pass. 2. I already have a couple of thousand points just sitting there on Live so I might as well use them. Plus I really like GTA IV, so getting new stuff for it is great in my eyes. 3. I don't use bikes that much at the moment, but I have no problem using them more in the future. 4. If people own both consoles I don't think having too many games to play will trouble them too much. CookPassBabtridge
I dont think anything GTA-related will ever be a flop, in terms of sales anyway. I agree with a few points, yes the motorcycle thing could get sh*tty, unless they have overhauled the physics on them. Streetfighter will be great, and will sell, but it is in a different market to GTA. Not really a direct rival like Saints Row etc. The price I agree is steep, for the same amount you could probably pick up IV itself now its sales have peaked. The previews are the biggy for me, as to if I buy it or not. We have only seen a bunch of bikers so far, personally I dont get hyped off screenshots alone, because im old and cynical. If this episode adds new things to do and places to visit, then it will be welcomed.
Capricornus
It's not going to flop for one major reason: It's a GTA game. It doesn't matter how many poeple were dissapointed with GTA IV or any of the GTA's before it. When people hear the name "GTA", they are going to rush to the store. That's right, the name alone, along with the franchise's popularity, is going to make this be a major hit. I mean, just think back to how many people on here alone were (and probably still are) creaming over the fact that there is DLC for GTA. And agreeing with Gunde, there are millions of people who are not on message boards who are both layal GTA fans and 360 owners. Let's not forget those who have high hopes for DLC. You know there going to rush and get it, hoping that their hopes will be fulfilled. Edited January 22, 2009 by Capricornus
nlitement
Alot of people have been complaining that 1600 Microsoft points (20$) is to much for DLC and people have already learned there lesson from buying GTA4 that it is a completely different game than they imagined so why make the same mistake and buy an add on to it, not to mention not everyone has XBL that bought the game. He managed to impress the hell out of me by spelling "than" properly and by using a comma a couple of times..
Guanxi
The only major title coming out a couple of days later in February is Killzone 2 which is on another platform (PS3) and could only be A-AA anyway. There's not been any build up about it, yet. One USA Today article (granted quite a big deal) and a few tidbits on gaming sites. I hope they and M$ get behind it more because at this rate I bet only half of the hardcore (xbots) that frequent gta fansites know and care of it's existence. OysterBarron
that website you linked is a flop. on a serious note The point i have been making in other topics is that this DLC is going to be avaliable for the rest of the 360's life cycle 5+years maybe if its lucky. so even if it doesnt sell loads in the first month people will still be downloading this for quite a few more years to come, Either because they have only just got live or are new to the game or the 360. to put it in perspective if xbox live continues to gain over 7+million people a year then thats potentially another 7 million customers every year for the next 5 years that could want DLC to extend there game. so trust me it will sell. Derelict Frog
tbh I am getting it. Even if its sh*t I am still getting it, and still gonna finish it - if only for the story. But I have good hopes.
Big_Mitch_Baker
Sounds to me like the DLC is Better than the original IV. You can still do the same sh*t just more/cooler stuff. I'm dirt poor but I'll hustle my way into $20 And anyone who thinks Streetfighter can hold a candle to GTA must regret that lobotomy
Crazy Asian
My thoughts on #2 in the link posted in the OP Most games these days are about 8-10 hours long and still cost about $60. The GTAIV DLC is said to be about 10 hours of gameplay, which is about the norm for games these days. SO. Do I think $20 for this DLC is too much? No. I think it's a fair price. ChrisMathers3501
1 - Who the f*ck plays Street Fighter? I know it must have some popularity, but how often have you gone to some guy's house, smoked a bunch of sh*t and played video games while drinking beer, and the game turned out to be f*cking Street Fighter? No. Fail. 2 - Ahem. Yes. $20 for horse armor is a little steep. This is something that is called a GAME. Not a bonus level, not a bunch of new outfits, not a new gun that sh*ts candy, a game. And for the price of the expansion pack of a game that it is. 3 - Maybe you got a point, but I imagine most people who download TLAD have already played GTA4 and have thus, if not mastered, than at least have gotten a feel for the bikes. I for one simply don't use first person when I'm on one and I do swimmingly. Plus given what I've heard from the previews they make it harder for you to get knocked off your bike. I mean, you know, given that you ARE a biker after all. 4 - You mean people with a PS3 aren't gonna get TLAD even if they have the 360 to put it on? The only people who get screwed on that front are the unfortunate losers who own a PS3 and NOT a 360. If you think I wouldn't get a GTA game just because I could also get so much more, you need to put the crackpipe down, get some exercise and fresh air, and read a book. Slamman
You could have suggested this months back, and I am pretty sure I read the topic before, but now, even a PS3 and PS2 user like me thinks it won't. Rockstar North are committed to the DLC in the same manner as a regular production, the seamless integration points to it making Liberty City as the build upon base of the next gen (this Generation!!) platform, take on new lives in the same city, and hopefully making more of it accessible with added audio treats as well! You know what, man? It's glad to hear some optimism from someone who only owns Sony consoles. Most of what I've been hearing from Playstation-only gamers is a bunch of jealousy and sour-grapes bullsh*t, and I've even been accused of being some kinda Playstation loyalist just because I wanna see a San Andreas Stories and inclusion of the GTA3 canon. Truth be told, I got a 360, but I only got a PS2 that I might pawn or shelve if I get a PS3 - but I'll bet there's a few games out there that are only out for PS3 that I wish I had. Here's hoping I get a PS3 and you get a 360, or at least that the DLC comes out for PS3 eventually. As for wether or not the game will flop, consider the fact that it's made by Rockstar Games, let alone that it's Grand Theft f*cking Auto and sleep better at night. SovietWarrior42
Well, considering the Stories did pretty well, and they are damn near what the Episodes are, I'd imagine it'd do alright. Also, Street Fighter IV is a bad point. Street Fighter is great and all, in my own opinion Mortal Kombat always kicked it's ass, but that's beside the point. What I'm trying to say is, Street Fighter is past it's prime. It may have swallowed quarters back in the 90's, but I don't know how good it will do now. The $20 tag may be steep, and I'm not too much of a fan of digital copies, but it shouldn't affect it that much. Being that I have 1200 points saved up, I'm more than ready to cough up the extra $6 or less that I need, just as long as I can get my half-ass internet connection to work. You kiddin'? $20 is the price of any expansion pack. Only problem with this is that I also have to buy an Xbox Live subscription and the hard drive I was too sh*t stupid to even think about getting when I first got the console. I mean, when I got my original Xbox it came with enough memory to hold saved games for my entire collection so I figured the 360 had the same thing, right? Well, at least I've had it for over a year without it red-ringing on me. If it does before I get TLAD though I swear I'm gonna eat a goddamn baby. lefantome
at first i was bored by this DLC but now after reading the latest news i'm enthiìusiast it's a new GTA settled in the same city of GTAIV, so it will last less than GTAIV but it introduces a lot of innovations maybe what GTAIV has lost from old GTAs
