ceedj
Any plans to add some code that would allow the posting of pics/screens/etc that DON'T break the formatting? I'm actually not against democracy though. I'm against things I think are f*cking stupid. I think this is f*cking stupid. - Sweets
Girish
Err...what formatting? Or do you mean auto-resizing?
ceedj
I mean people posting 1600x1200 pictures and it breaking the forum formatting. I can't be the only one seeing/annoyed with this. So I'm asking if some code can be added to the base (shouldn't be that hard) to prevent this. I'm actually not against democracy though. I'm against things I think are f*cking stupid. GammaRaptor
Up to the staff to decide on that one.
Girish
Oh, then I believe you're talking about auto-resizing. I think this was brought up before; can't remember now. But yeah, it pisses me off when someone posts a huge pic without bothering to resize it or at least post thumbnails. An auto-resize feature would be really nice, something that limits the image to 800x600 or 1024x768 at most.
Otter
Another forum I frequent uses code to shrink the image to within standard boundaries, but you can click on a bar above the image to expand it to regular size. It woule really make a difference around here, but I think it's something we'll have to wait for in v2.
Cursed
The lesson to be learned is buy a 52" monitor. If there are no large images on a page, then I use thumbnails. However, for example if someone has already posted a large desktop screenshot in the "Post Pictures of your PC/Desktop" thread then I don't bother. If everyone did the same then I guess it would be better for 56k'ers and 1024x768'ers.
coin-god
I thin he means what happen with Simple Machines Forums, whenever the pic is to big, the forum theme wont f*ck up, it will add scrollers so u can scroll sideways to see the entery pic. NTAuthority
I thin he means what happen with Simple Machines Forums, whenever the pic is to big, the forum theme wont f*ck up, it will add scrollers so u can scroll sideways to see the entery pic. I don't really like that solution, what I like more is simply making the BBCode check the size of the linked image (or even a client-side JavaScript), and if it's larger than, say, 800x600, it adds a 'width' style element to the img tag which resizes it. Exkabewbikadid
All I have to say... V2! Yeah, something like this was discussed for v2 which will happen sometime between now and GTA XXVI. AFAIK, there will also be limits placed on oversized sigs so anything that exceeds 500x150 will automatically be cropped and we won't have to dick about with disabling and reenabling signatures anymore. Lega_c
Tell the truth guys, we all know V2 is a lie to cover up your laziness. For example: [Noob that's been here for five minutes]-"Hey we should add a new skin" [MOD]- "V2" *Later in the mod cave* [MOD]- "So glad we finally found a way to stop all these suggestions" [ADMIN]- "Yeah, I couldn't be arsed to do anything anyway!"
