Red Army Mod (Realistic Weapon Mod)

 

Version:

2.0

 

Credits:

1/4 Life - AK-74 Texture, Weapon Tweaks.

PelPix - AK-74 Bumpmap and Specular map.

Toperia - Blooming Crosshair.

 

Changelog:

V2 Changes:

-Decreased AK-74 and M4A1's rate of fire a small amount.

-Further decreased accuracy of the AK-74.

-AK-74 magazines now hold 60 rounds (Based off of the model).

-Improved AK-74 texture.

-Improved M4A1 texture.

-Improved MP10 texture.

-Darkened and gave most of the gun textures a more reflective look.

-Severely decreased accuracy of the 'Deagle'.

-Increased Micro Uzi rounds/min to 1700

-Made all of the guns more reflective, giving them a blue like finish.

-Added Blooming Crosshair Option.

-Increased Pistol rate of fire.

 

v1 Changes:

-Skin Change: Changed AK-47 to AK-74m (Niko's Serbian, why should he be using old hand-me-down sh*t from third world countries? AK-74m is the standard now.)

-Changed AK-47 (AK-74m) rate of fire from ~300 rounds/min to ~650 rounds/min.

-Changed M4a1 rate of fire from ~300 rounds/min to ~700 rounds/min.

-Changed MP5A2 rate of fire from ~200 rounds/min to ~800 rounds/min.

-Changed Micro Uzi rate of fire from ~150 rounds/min to ~600 rounds/min.

-Increased AK-47 (AK-74m) damage to be greater than that of the M4a1. (Only slightly)

-Decreased accuracy of the AK-47 (AK-74m) to be less than that of the M4a1.

-RPM changes only apply when aimed. When blind firing (From behind cover, usually using one hand) the rate of fire will return to normal.

-Severely decreased accuracy when blind firing or firing from a car.

-Permanently disabled auto-aim on both Keyboard/Mouse and Joystick based controllers.

-Increased damage of AK-47 (AK-74m).

-Decreased accuracy of AK-47 (AK-74m).

-All weapons are held with two hands except when blind firing. (Uzi is still held with one hand, due to an animation issue.)

-Uzi, Glock, and MP5 all do about the same damage, due to the three using similar ammo. (9x18 and 9x19)

 

Suggestions to the user:

Do not hold down the primary fire button.

Use small 3 round bursts if you can. This will help you conserve ammo. With the new realistic rates of fire you can blow a 30 round mag in ~3 seconds.

 

Future Improvements:

Firing mode Alice script/ASI mod.

More weapon skins.

Custom models.

Custom sounds (Waiting for the GTAIV sound packages to finally be editable. Actual audio files are ready to go.)

Improved AK-74 texture. (With model?)

I downloaded your mod, and I dislike your weapon customizations. Any way I can just have the new AK skin?:

Yes, simply replace your weapons.xml with the backup (Or if you just downloaded this mod for the skin, and never installed it prior, don't touch weapons.xml), and install weapons.img

That will get you the skin without all of the other tweaks.

 

Can I use this in Multiplayer?:

Yes, you can, but I ask that you do not. The higher rates of fire give you a very large advantage in multiplayer. If you have to play multiplayer, only do it in free play servers.

 

Why Red Army mod?:

I called this Red Army mod based on Brucie's "Red Army sh*t" comment during the middle half of the game. It seemed to fit.

i think the rate of fire on the guns is way too fast. more than what u claim it is.

 

i find the originals better.

 

not to mention that one of the ways the game kinda balanced it's guns is the slower ROF of the ARs. now they function as well and SMGs only stronger.

 

also there is no real decrease in accuracy when blindfiring. its impossible to make blind firing much less accurate than the normal firing. i dont understand why rockstar made blind firing just as accurate as normal firing...

what I did in order to make it less affective is made the ROF from behind cover 0.65 on SMGs and 0.6 on ARs. i let the pistols have the same ROF behind cover to give them a tiny edge.

Version 2.0 is almost done.

I love new rate fire , this is best weapon mod in this world for GTA IV icon14.gif You should add real gun names , you can edit .gtx files with SA gtx editor

The decrasing fire rate when blindfiring is realistic in some way....If you would blindfire UZI with ONE hand , you would shoot burst fire , it's hard to shoot UZI with one hand and without burst fire.

-Weapons now have real names. (Two versions of this. One with proper car names, and one without.)

-Ranges increased to real world values.

 

Version 2 will be done by tomorrow night.

You should decrase ammount of bullets in Deagle magazine from 9 to 7 icon14.gif I don't think there are 9 bullets capacity magazines for Deagle.

EDIT: Forget about this idea , there are magazines for Deagle with 9 bullets capacity.

* 9 round (.357)

* 8 round (.41 and .44)

* 7 round (.440 Cor-bon and .50AE)

 

Thanks for the suggestion, but:

 

The 'DEagle' is an overrated, inaccurate, expensive, complicated, and generally stupid gun that never should have existed. The only place it's used is in movies and games. Nobody in their right mind actually owns a real one.

 

So, I'll stick with the 9 round mag (.357, anything is better than the standard 50cal version) and lower the damage a bit until I can model something (anything) to replace it.

1\4 life, did u change the accuracy?

 

i see no change in the accuracy of the guns.

 

the real life feel of the guns is if u change their accuracy to something really high.

 

for example - try changing pistols and SMGs accuracy to 9 while ARs to 14 (AK can be 16) instead of the 0.5 they have now.

 

the recoil and affect it has on how u shoot while moving and such is so much better.

 

HOWEVER (!!!!!) this also reduces the AIs accuracy significantly. u will notice the change in how the game becomes easier.

(on the flip side, changing weapon's accuracy to 0.0 will make the AI more accurate and the game more challenging. just a tip)

 

but still i recommend u trying to change the weapon's accuracy to what i said and see how it feels. the fact that the bullets dont all go into the same spot andd that the blooming of the crosshair actually means something is more like rainbow6 than GTA...

 

it's such a shame the AI suffers so much.

Otherwise, there's no real problem with the guns being accurate. The first three shots should always be dead on.

the only way to keep the AI accurate while giving recoil to the guns is by adding weapon slots to the game and creating a duplicated version for every weapon and then telling the AI to use one version of the weapon and make niko use the other and then changing niko's weapons to something more realistic.

 

p.s. -

did u lower the amount of ammo u can carry with every weapon? reducing it to about 5 magazins each? if u r going to realism u should probably do that.

As for the mag count, I left it alone for the time being. I wanted to see how people would handle the new rates of fire before I started adjusting maximum ammo.

Next version will see AK74 60-round mags, and a limited ammo system.

 

Oh, and nice idea with the AI. Mind if I steal it? biggrin.gif

One last thing:

Anyone know if it's possible to add more sniper rifle scopes to the game? And if so, can I control the maximum zoom rate?

what AI idea? the thing about having a duplicated version of the guns - one for AI and one for player?

 

not only that i want to to steal it but i INSIST that u do! smile.gif

if u can pull this off than u r more than wellcomed.

 

only request is that if u manage to do it yourself or find someone how can do it than make it so the weapons are editable so ppl can make the AI more accurate, less accurate, more lethal and so on.

 

in my wet dreams i want the AI to be as accurate as possible (accuracy on 0.0) and have guns that cause more damage (about 150% of how t is now) while the player will have lower accuracy and normal weapons damage.

just to make things harder.

also if u want to take my crosshair's look and behavior than go ahead smile.gif just state my name somewhere and praise the size of my genitalia in some form. i dont mind...

I'm not at home so I can't check your mod out right now, but I was working on something similar. I found that the best way to be certain that the RPM setting for the auto's are correct is to go on YouTube and rip some audio of each of the actual guns firing. Then, if you have a full duplex sound card, record audio of GTA's guns firing in full auto. Sync the real weapon sound with GTA's sound in an audio editing program and adjust the RPM until each round is in sync.

Just checked, this mod will work with the latest patch as it does not replace any of the files the patch changed.

 

Wait for a new version of xliveless or MagicIV. When they come out, this mod will function once again.

File replacement mods can now be used! (Everything but ASI mods.)

Giving the AK-47 black furniture doesn't make it an AK-74M, and what's this about a 60 round magazine capacity? There is nothing realistic about that.

Niko already holds the pistols with both hands, except when blindfiring, so what exactly has your mod changed?
