zyk0
I thought trying to forward ports for the PS3 version was a pain in the ass. I opened every port that is needed on my router, even connected my ethernet cable directly to the pc, tried to configure sygate software firewall, and even tried to configure windows firewall. I've literally been trying to connect online for the past few days because I've beaten this game on PS3 single player and don't feel like doing it all over again. Yea, the game is fun but I want to play multiplayer. Windows Live / Xbox Live / Games For Windows Live (WTF?!) FFS, I just want to play this thing online so I can shoot some people in the face but no, "This profile could not be logged into Live...." "There may be a networking error..." It's a slap in the face when I can't return this game because it just doesn't like to run sometimes and it's a kick in the balls when I can't play online. Can someone help me with this or is the GTA community what they say it is? Don't tell me to uninstall my anti-virus and don't tell me to disable my firewall. There is absolutely no reason to disable/uninstall crucial software/hardware. WoW works fine with both on, as well as, AoC, CoD4, Steam, hell, even crappy 2D Free2Play Korean MMO's work. Maybe you should put on the box, "Requires Unsecure Internet and No Router to Access Multiplayer Features." pilly
windows firewall is easy to access and make GtA IV an exception. As far as the router i am behind a router and did not have to forward anything so maybe you have a diff problem. If I did have to forward ports I would simply use google......google is your friend. Since you have been messing with settings in the router it might be a good idea to reset router to defaults and go from there. gl
GTAIV ROCKS
Hi mate. What your will need to do is go into your router interface. And look for a setting called DMZ. Basically what this does is let the router assign you a private IP address for your computer only. I don’t know if it might be the same as to your. But I had to do that on my BTHOMEHUB before I can play GTAIV online. Even when I tried opening ports for GTAIV (GFWL) it didn’t work. But I found that when I tried the DMZ setting in my BTHOMEHUB it worked like a charm. You might not have that DMZ setting in your router. But have a look. That’s all I did to make GTAIV Play online! Another thing, once you’ve selected DMZ in the router and click to assign your computer. What will happen next is your IP address from your computer would change from this E.g 192.168.1.68 to 81.234.135.291:3074 that’s the IP Address I got from GTA IV when I clicked Home then Options then network status! Hoped I have helped you mate! Good luck
