GritEngine
what is this gta or flight simulator? i dont think flying should be focused on too much. after all this is gta. There are as many opinions on what is GTA as there are people who play GTA. Oh god this is so true. As many as there must be citizens in each city they make it in. That's the beauty of the game, or rather the beauty of it in its fans. btw I'm making you a truck. It won't be ready for a while, but I'm making it. Agreed, I remember in San Andreas a lot of times I'd be by the Ammunation in the business district of Los Santos and a Beagle or a Stuntplane would often crash and plummet to the street below usually crashing somewhere close to where I was standing unfortunately. So if planes are going to be part of the next GTA R* really needs to get their programming right and make flight paths that don't lead planes crashing into buildings causing a virtual 911. XTREME0235
The thing with that game boy. Would it not be somewhat realistic if (if R* was to add country side) a plane every few days [game time] or whenever crash land into the country side or rivers as a cause of a faulty aircraft component or it being hijacked? Of course if it was programmed to do such a thing, they wouldn't have them crash into buildings, mainly just countryside, rivers and oceans. I believe IMO it would add the realism effect, and then when it actually happens, a few game minutes later you would here a news report on the radio about a crash that had happened. XTREME0235. K^2
That could work, sure. But I think the main idea here is to have an actual AI rather than just have a few planes spawn overhead randomly and fly in a straight line until hitting an obstacle. I do agree with you and I'm not saying that I never want a plane to crash I'm just saying I don't want a plane to crash into a tall building every single day. It would be cool to book tickets using the in-game internet. Walking around the plane is also a cool idea as well.
scottp97
your right i was devastated when I could not fly planes in gta iv and liberty city stories and with san andreas looking the likely location for gta v planes will probably once again become part of the game play . your also right when you say about the speeds of the aircraft because by the time you reach full altitude and level of you need to think about landing again ,and i agree gta v needs air traffic control because flying was far far to easy on sanandreas and the lack of air traffic makes flying even less challenging but if rock star put your ideas into GTA V it will be a brill improvement. It would also be quite cool if you had to walk through the interior of the plane to get to the cockpit.

sminem
It will be funny just to hear a bunch of pilots get into an argument Definitely, I'll try to write a script for something that might be funny to hear over the chatter. The following is just from the top if my head. Air Traffic Controller: "You're clear for landing." Pilot: "Yeah that's what you wife said last night!" Air Traffic Controller: "Hey just shut up and land the damn plane asshole!" I know it's not too good but I just made it up on the spot you try to do better! K^2
That's... not actually funny. Somebody referenced Pushing Tin earlier. That's the kind of humor that should be in the ATC chatter. ATC: Ok, you're cleared to land on runway 2. Pilot: Hahaha, he said runway. ATC: Are you high again? Pilot: Hahaha, he said high. *Sounds of crash over the radio.* ATC: Dammit, lost another one. Flight 197: Hahaha, he said lost.

K^2
Well, not quite, but comparable. Either way, IV's map would easily accommodate light planes. Maybe even business jets. Zeshuan
I am very much on board with R* focusing more on flight for GTA 5. Plane customization would also be cool. You could pick if your attack jet/heli had rockets or a minigun(having both may complicate control placement). Colour schemes could also be available along with optional interior trims. OMG, could you imagine if in GTA 5's free mode you could pilot an AC-130 while your buddy let loose those cannons. Can you say EPIC RAPE-AWGE! K^2
In some MP modes, AC-130 could definitely work. Though, you probably want to keep friendly fire on just to make it fair. Otherwise, it's a bit overpowered. Something a little more surgical, like an A-10, would probably be better for most situations. It's also a little more balanced, because you really need to do a proper attack run to use it well, and that would give anyone with a stinger a fair chance. Niall
I too am a RW pilot (helis tho, not so much stuck wings anymore), and i agree with the OP fully. Flying is what I do the most in IV, and I still play San An for the planes. As far as I'm concerned they could call it Grand Theft Aero. I have a feeling we won't be let down in V. Zeshuan
Considering this is a GTA forum concerning planes that could be added to the next GTA, you should be able to deduce what we're talking about. Although MW2 did initially inspire the thought. Also, they gotta bring the Hydra back. Love that thing. Edited August 13, 2010 by Zeshuan
sminem
Either way, IV's map would easily accommodate light planes. Maybe even business jets. Agreed, the Ghawar (AKA Ray Bulgarin's Jet) would work just fine in IV's map. In some MP modes, AC-130 could definitely work. Though, you probably want to keep friendly fire on just to make it fair. Yet again agreed, but if R*'s new kick for GTA is realism it's unlikely because the AC-130 requires a specially trained crew to operate it's many weapons and functions. Suihkubad
AC-130? WTF? GTA multiplayer is not cod. It is supposed to be a total mayhem with buses crashing each other while everyone is shooting miniguns etc. Small private planes and maybe fighters would work fine. Maybe you could get a 747 but I dont know what to do with that unless you could highjack it, rob everyone and the jump with a parachute. And the map would have to be atleast twice the size of IV. They could add some swamps or desert betweeen cities.
Little William
AC-130????? You guys must be out of your mind. Small planes and maybe one or two fighter jets I could accept, but the muthaf*cking AC-130 is bit too much.

Small planes and maybe one or two fighter jets I could accept, but the muthaf*cking AC-130 is bit too much. I'm sort of undecided about the good ol' AC-130. You see, it would be an ideal gunship for if the next GTA title's map is almost or is as big as RDR, but even then your sort of pulling that band a bit to tight. But if R* manage to use their RAGE engine as well as enabling the characters to walk around inside large vehicles without rag dolling, then i think it would be a good feature to the game. XTREME0235. Nick0025
See, I think that there weren't any planes in GTA4 because the city itself (Liberty City) Is a (VERY similar) knockoff of New York City. And I remember hearing about the controversy that people had against rockstar where the groups that were going against rockstar were saying that Putting airplanes in a sandbox game, where you can do pretty much anything that you want, in a city that very closely resembles NYC, would be morally incorrect because of 9/11. And i would agree with that, But i think that rockstar also didn't want to delay the game any further to put in aircraft. I think that both had a play in rockstar not putting in aircraft, but im not sure which one is the bigger reason.
