vALKYR
Okay first of all: the specs: C2D 2,26 GHz Centrino 2 blabla 9600M GT 512 MB DDR2 4gigs of RAM harddisk sh*t doesn't matter WinVista 32bit second of all: how the above works ... perfectly. I can play CoD4 on high settings with 1440x900 and receive stable 30-40 fps same goes for: Far Cry 2 CoD5 UT3 STALKER (the first one) then I buy GTA4, install the game and after getting past this RGSC sh*t I start the game and the following expression appears on my face: NOTHING, not reducing the settings or the resolution gives me more than 20 fps! TWENTY ffs... even playing on 1024x768! now inb4 all the things you might suggest: Newest drivers, been there done that, also laptopvideo2go but that gives BSoD's availablevidmem trick... gives me 2-3 fps more nomemrestriction etc ... also does not work FarClip 3500 w/ detailview to 0 ... nothing The only thing I want is playing the thing with these settings: 1154x664 or 1280x720 medium medium 10 0 10 0 ... and receive 25-30 fps. ALL I WANT. PLEASE. And this is where I paid for...
ReS)N-
dude, i have a similar laptop.. i mean also 9600M GT 512 MB, 4 GB RAM and vista 32bit. on low settings i get 25 FPS average, but then the problems with stuttering begin... i cant play properly after 10 min playing and trust me i've tried all the tweaks, all driver updating, install optional apps.. still doesnt help.. im hoping for the patch from R* which will fix this - i think its the R* problem, they made this game too good
vALKYR
i think its the R* problem, they made this game too good hmm I agree... GTA was NEVER about kickass graphics and now all of the sudden it's even more demanding than Crysis & Co. I'll guess I'll wait for the patch... if not soon; I'll ask for a re-fund... logitechdog
you play computer games at your own risk when you play them on a laptop, a laptop specs does not mean the same as a desktop spec... even I would not go out and buy a laptop for testing my games, that I am learning to programme... 9600m GT is a 128bit card... with a memory speed of 800mhz and only has 32 streams... desktop one has 64 streams, 256bit interface and a 900mhz clock... and don't compare games with GTAIV unless they stream the data and have no buffer zones... vALKYR
you play computer games at your own risk when you play them on a laptop, a laptop specs does not mean the same as a desktop spec... blabla, I know. I need the laptop for my work and here is me who plays GTA on the PC since the first one and never had trouble with it (because GTA was never about nice graphics) All other games work perfectly, why not GTA? Look, I know my laptop ain't the best and I repeat, I do not expect it to play on the highest resulution with 40 fps! I just want medium acceptable graphics with 25-30 fps! Only that... should be possible; IF R* would be so nice to get some patches done ... or if anyone here could suggest something nice to tweak on my installation. I do not need people reminding that my laptop ain't a NASA machine...

When u run GTA IV, ur HDD and CPU and GPU gets hot suddenly, thats the main problem why we experience these problems with GTA IV.

kakarot_9
Won't work, tried it on my friends laptop and it had same kinda specs except it ran a 9500GT and still the same sh*t. This game is made for desktop pc's and is tested on them as well, I don't think they test these games on laptops.
