Lamest thread ever.

 

Weapon Set one.

~Melle~

Knife: A basic kitchen knife. Excellent for stealthy kills, as you can slit peoples throats.

Police Extendable Batton: Police Issue batton, great for beating people. Since it colapses on itself, it is concealable.

Golf Club/Driver: Like the Police Batton, except you cant easily store it, and you look out of place with it unless your on the Leaf Links. Slightly more powerfull.

Machette: Decaptitation territory. Can chop down some tree's, often to your advantage. Cant conceal. Can run.

Chainsaw. Like the Machete, except you cannot run.

~Handguns~

SIGP226 .40 S&W:

An good pistol, used by police and some criminals. It has good stopping power due to the .40 cartridge. 12 round mag.

Smith & Wesson Model 29

The most powerful Handgun, this revolver has a 6 round cylinder, not very accurate compared to other guns, also alitle slow.

Rarely seen used by Crims.

M72 LAW: Rocket launcher used by army. 1 shot.

RPG7: Rocket launcher used by terroists and during a mission used by a gang.

Flamethrower: Used by army sometimes at roadblocks. Very rare, very fun.

PepperSpray: Used by Police.

TASER: Used by some police instead of SIGP226.

Lighter: Start a fire! Or burn someone in the arm.

Dildo: Yah. Funny to beat people up with.

Flowers: Yikes. Lethal.

Grenade: Ya got me. Army used.

~~~~Weapon Obtaing~~~~~~~

It should be hard to obtain weapons. There will be no spawn points.

There will be normal gun shops which sell weapons to civilians. You can get a gun license to legally buy weapons from here.

You can get black market arm dealers, which cheaply sell weapons, sometimes even restricted wepaons like AK47's and Steyr AUG's. You'll have to agree on a price. If you cant satisfy the dealer's demands, he might get angry and attack you. Or you can get angry and try to attack him, although this can be hard at times, because he has the weapons and you suposedly dont.

You can stealthly steal guns out of cops holsters sometimes, although if he notices you 2 stars coming right up.

If you attack some civilians, they may have a firearm. Rarely they will try and shoot you with it if they are losing the fight.

You can join the Police or SWAT, or sneak into military to get weapons, although this is hard.

Nice list of weapons, all in all, and I like the idea of getting rid of weapon spawn points, or maybe having an option to turn them off. Then again, you don't have to pick any up and you can make your own rules. I've been playing through a good chunk of the Vice City storyline with nothing more than the 9mm, Kruger and M60 ammo I've gotten from the mission without pickups at all.

 

There are ways you can adjust the difficulty of the game in setting parameters for a new challenge and sticking to them.

I would like to see the M4A1. I would like to see some throwing knifes also, I think it would be a good idea as a stealth way to kill, Unlike just stabbing, It gives you some range to get those kills, and it would be able to take down cops, and providing nobody seen you, in a crowded area it got you 2 flashing stars, Drawing a weapon or running away makes them real stars, and in a area with nobody, it gets you 2 stars if the cops come.

 

I would like a .40 S&W, They are wicked guns.

 

But mostly, I would like to see named weapons, I would like them to be more accurate in looks and firing, And I would want diff types of ammo, HP, AP ect.

 

But Really, I want for the firing system to be new. I would love it if you could add a laser mabey, or you could use sites by pressing a diff button, and it goes into 1st person, or you coud hip fire in first person, But i would like it better like that, as it adds skill to multiplayer, now it matters where you put the shots.

 

Oh yeah, I would LOVE a M60, I would just love to use them for some real power, and speaking for the ps3 here, I think its got the power to be able to have some big fire fights with those sorta guns, and I bet the xbox could to.

I think it would be better if you didn't get a wanted level at all. If nobody saw you, then there's nobody to report the crime. The police probably wouldn't find his body for a while, and when they do; that's when you should get a wanted level. But you'll probably be far away by then.

 

Which leads me onto another thing I'd like to see; movable bodies. If you kill somebody and the police find the body, they will immediately set up a search parameter. As long as you're out of the area by the time that happens, you'll be fine, otherwise they'll stop you for looking "suspicious."

How would you go about purchasing different ammo though? Because at the moment we are just walking into an illegal gun store and buying the weapon, then buying the ammo. Would you buy the weapon with the ammo or would you buy the weapon then have to choose the ammo?

 

Is a criminal getting his hands on HP or AP ammo really realistic? It must be hard enough to get your hands on a gun when they are illegal, let alone specialist ammo.

Why not play a FPS? I'm not trying to be offence, but that's not what GTA is about. It's a crime game. If you want realistic shooting, go play a shoot 'em up.

OK List, except the Kriss SUPERV and the Bizon are pretty rare. SuperV is an excellent weapon, it is still being tested though lol. And for the Bizon, its a soviet weapon most peeps havent heard off. Not very common in America.

Smith And Wesson model 500 is a target pistol, rediculous in combat, usually in the hands of an unexperienced shooter (Usually the protagonist of a GTA game) it's recoil will go vertical. In the hands of an experienced shooter, it will go close to vertical. And BaseBall bats I think are rediculos weapons. Thats why they made the Golf Driver.

And aint switchblades and butterfly knifes the same? Sorry, I dunno my bladed weapons.

ROFL, the M14 hasnt been used since the prototype stages in WW2.

Thanks man. I played through VC with only a Police batton and M1911 (It isnt 9mm, its .45 ACP), and later on I used the Chainsaw, M1911 and UZI. Sometimes the Kruger which I never rarely used. And it was hilariously easy with weapon spawns, you remember them and pick them up all the time. The UZI is a hellofagun.

AKA M16A2 with M203. M203 isnt a Rocket Propelled Grenade, its a 40mm grenade launcher.

Say, I did list the more modern M4A1, which would have the M203 mounted when used by some army dudes.

Yeah man!!!!! But by different types of ammo, like all the different calibers, like if your Uzi ran out you could manually take some 9mm from your handgun or something and slot it in the Uzi mag.

Armour Peircing ammo is a silly idea.

Rockstar wants GTA to be more realistic, well that's what it seems like with GTA 4 because most of the fun stuff like Go karts, parachutes they took out because jumping out of a plane without a parachute is much more realistic sarcasm.gif

 

Now i don't know about you guys but i'm sick of using M4, Uzi and the same old shotgun every GTA game, i mean its not bad and all and they should still be included in the games but there are over 10000's of guns around the world why be restricted to those same guys every time.

 

The great thing about adding new weapons is having missions to obtain these weapons, so you could do missions for an arms dealer and unlock weapons as you progress into the game. The better the weapon the harder to obtain so would have to work for a crook FBI agent or top secret guy or something like that and do deeds for him and this could be connected to the main plot.

Sniper Rifles

Civilian rifles

Shotguns

MachineGuns

Grenade launchers

Handguns - Most of these would be obtainable very early on because civilians are able to buy them.

 

SubMachineGuns - These again wont be too hard to obtain and you could pick one up by doing a few missions.

 

Assault Rifles - you would get your conventional AK-47 (+ new guns) and would be bought from underground and illegal fire arms dealers ofcourse the more powerful ones would be through missions.

 

Sniper Rifles - My favorite but its a shame there isn't a wider variety of them! sad.gif - Sniper rifles could be obtained throughout the game from the weak and crappy ones to the better and powerful ones as you progress - I WANT THE BARRETT!!!

 

Civilian rifles - Obtained early on in the game because these are guns for self-defense, training, hunting and recreational shooting

 

Shotguns - can be obtained through the game during missions there will be weaker and more powerful ones and a wider variety.

 

MachineGuns - VERY hard to obtain and cant be shot while standing, walking, crouching. the Machinegun would be obtained abotu half way THROUGH A HARD MISSION or a EPIC one.

 

The only way the Machine can be shot is if its Mounted on a roof of a car or a tripod.

 

Grenade launchers - Nothing really special about this accept

 

Experimental - This would be a VERY hard one because people would think its too unrealistic but if you can rob a bank and get away with it what makes you say you cant get your hands on a Rail gun.

 

For those of you who have watched the movie "Eraser" you would know what the rail gun is, its a really cool gun and its kinda alien like.

 

I think the Rail gun would be obtainable once in a difficult mission were you get given it by some crook government agents to do a job (im not sure what but this is just a idea) it wont be like in SA where you break into a military place and steal a jet pack, it be more realistic with a story behind it so it makes sense.

 

After you finish the mission you wont be able to buy the gun nor buy ammo from a regular fire arms dealer, you would have to go back to the "crook agent" and buy ammo from him which would be very expensive.

I want most of the guns to come from European and Middle Eastern country's because it would mean the guns would have to be illegally imported into the country.

Now your probably saying "there's to many guns and it will be time consuming, you only need a few" Who said you need to do missions to obtain these guns, i came up with two ways to get them.

 

1. Through side missions for the arms dealer, it would kinda be like doing side missions for Brucie. (if anyone's played Farcry 2 you'd know what i mean) So there would be different types of side missions the better the gun the harder it is e.g. Steal a shipment of guns that's just leaving the airport and there will be like 10 armed men in the truck shooting at you while you try and take it.

 

2. Some of the guns you cant steal nor buy from a arms dealer, so you would have to go on the internet and pay bid bucks to buy them. This will also be a good reason to gain money because in GTA 4 money is pretty much useless.

Heaps of games have implemented gore, i don't want to see like Unreal tournament 3 kinda gore but more realistic.

 

I HOPE YOU READ THROUGH MOST OF THIS BEFORE COMMENTING because this would make the game so much more fun... Well it would be better then stealing cars and driving them back to a garage...

I like where you're going with this.

 

The way the weapons have been done, limited number of slots where you can only have one gun of each type,

 

If we were going for realism it should be made where you can't carry more weapons than a person normally could. This would mean an assault rifle, a pistol and a knife and not much more. Maybe a sawnoff shotgun if you put the protagonist in a trenchcoat.

 

Would this arms dealer in your concept here be sort of a replacement for Ammu-Nation? Say you do missions for him and you gradually get access to more advanced weapons as you progress?

You would still have Ammu-Nation but at Ammu-Nation you would only be able to buy Civilian and basic weapons.

 

The Arms-Dealer would be a underground and would sell illegal, more expensive weapons and you can do side missions for him and like you said gradually unlock advanced weapons.

We are still talking about a future Grand Theft Auto game. What you mention is a big part of what makes the series. Maybe this should be a totally different game, maybe one Rockstar could do.

 

However, this is the GTA NeXt section as this is GTAForums.com, so I'm figuring this is still going to work within the basic feel and premise of the GTA series.

Also, another idea for experimental: the ACIW variant of the AuSteyr assualt rifle. It's on wiki, check it out if you're interested.

 

Also, I reckon it'd be cool to have the Smith and Wesson Model 500-it's a .50 cal revolver which makes the .44 magnum look like a chick gun.

I had put this post in the thread at the top of the GTA Next page and I've expanded on it somewhat

 

Fists: Bare fist, Knuckle duster

 

Melee: Baseball bat, hunting knife, katana, chainsaw, meat cleaver, machete, screwdriver, claw hammer, battery drill, hedge trimmer, pliers, frying pan, police baton, smashed bottle, iron bar, tomahawk, walking cane, pool cue, ball-bearing cosh, piano wire (for stealth kills), stanley knife (the plastic would shield it from metal detectors) and anything that can be picked up and smashed into someone's face

 

Handguns: MP.40 (16 rounds/clip), Desert Eagle (7 rounds/clip), Silenced MP.40, .44 Magnum (6 rounds/clip), Smith and Wesson Model 500 revolver (I couldn't find a clip size, but it's either 5 or 6)

 

Shotguns: Sawn off, Chrome shotgun, AA-12 with 20 round drum magazine

 

Submachine-guns: Tec-9 (50 rounds/clip), Mac-10 (30 rounds/clip), MP5 (30 rounds/clip), Micro Uzi (dunno the clip size)

EDIT: Renamed and given a more broad scope. xcelr8armo, I like your concept but it seems more suited for MGS than GTA. This is still a series that's going to revolve around street crime, carjackings and whatnot. Some elements of your weaponry concept could definitely fit in though.

Getting SENSIBLE, I'll will reveiw some posts.

 

Rockstar wants GTA to be more realistic, well that's what it seems like with GTA 4 because most of the fun stuff like Go karts, parachutes they took out because jumping out of a plane without a parachute is much more realistic 

 

Now i don't know about you guys but i'm sick of using M4, Uzi and the same old shotgun every GTA game, i mean its not bad and all and they should still be included in the games but there are over 10000's of guns around the world why be restricted to those same guys every time.

 

The great thing about adding new weapons is having missions to obtain these weapons, so you could do missions for an arms dealer and unlock weapons as you progress into the game. The better the weapon the harder to obtain so would have to work for a crook FBI agent or top secret guy or something like that and do deeds for him and this could be connected to the main plot.

Handguns - Most of these would be obtainable very early on because civilians are able to buy them.

 

SubMachineGuns - These again wont be too hard to obtain and you could pick one up by doing a few missions.

 

Assault Rifles - you would get your conventional AK-47 (+ new guns) and would be bought from underground and illegal fire arms dealers ofcourse the more powerful ones would be through missions.

 

Sniper Rifles - My favorite but its a shame there isn't a wider variety of them!  - Sniper rifles could be obtained throughout the game from the weak and crappy ones to the better and powerful ones as you progress - I WANT THE BARRETT!!!

 

Civilian rifles - Obtained early on in the game because these are guns for self-defense, training, hunting and recreational shooting

 

Shotguns - can be obtained through the game during missions there will be weaker and more powerful ones and a wider variety.

 

MachineGuns - VERY hard to obtain and cant be shot while standing, walking, crouching. the Machinegun would be obtained abotu half way THROUGH A HARD MISSION or a EPIC one.

 

The only way the Machine can be shot is if its Mounted on a roof of a car or a tripod.

 

Grenade launchers - Nothing really special about this accept

 

Experimental - This would be a VERY hard one because people would think its too unrealistic but if you can rob a bank and get away with it what makes you say you cant get your hands on a Rail gun.

 

For those of you who have watched the movie "Eraser" you would know what the rail gun is, its a really cool gun and its kinda alien like.

 

I think the Rail gun would be obtainable once in a difficult mission were you get given it by some crook government agents to do a job (im not sure what but this is just a idea) it wont be like in SA where you break into a military place and steal a jet pack, it be more realistic with a story behind it so it makes sense.

 

After you finish the mission you wont be able to buy the gun nor buy ammo from a regular fire arms dealer, you would have to go back to the "crook agent" and buy ammo from him which would be very expensive.

I want most of the guns to come from European and Middle Eastern country's because it would mean the guns would have to be illegally imported into the country.

Now your probably saying "there's to many guns and it will be time consuming, you only need a few" Who said you need to do missions to obtain these guns, i came up with two ways to get them.

 

1. Through side missions for the arms dealer, it would kinda be like doing side missions for Brucie. (if anyone's played Farcry 2 you'd know what i mean) So there would be different types of side missions the better the gun the harder it is e.g. Steal a shipment of guns that's just leaving the airport and there will be like 10 armed men in the truck shooting at you while you try and take it.

 

2. Some of the guns you cant steal nor buy from a arms dealer, so you would have to go on the internet and pay bid bucks to buy them. This will also be a good reason to gain money because in GTA 4 money is pretty much useless.

Must have taken ages to write that post!!!! wow.gif But if a game had so many weapons, it'd be the next version of Counterstrike or "Real life: The revenge". And would you rather have heaps of weapons in a game with sh*te graphics or a game with a fair array of customizable weapons and excellent graphics? I think you named every single poupular weapon out there.

And a few proto's like the XM8 and stuff. And if im correct the M60 can be fired from the shoulder, although in short bursts and not the rambo style full auto.

Otherwise, a reduced list of yours would be excellent from the next GTA game.

Yeah......

Or we have both Arm Dealers and Ammu Nations. Rifles, Handguns, shotguns and some SMG's are purchased from Ammunation whilst more gangsta/crimal type of the above, plus Assault Rifles, RPG's and other tibits.

 

BTW, we could have a FPS style system.

Primary Slot: For large weapons like the larger SMG's, Assault Rifles, Rifles, Larger Shotguns, LMG's, Large Melle and RPG's.

Secondary Slot: For hanguns, small SMG's, small shotguns, and TASERs.

Melle: For small melle weapons.

Misc: For things like Grenades and Flashbangs, pepper spray, dildos, C4, and crap.

Misc2: Same as Misc.

 

You can only conceal weapons if they are in Secondary, Melle, Misc and Misc2 slots.

Otherwise, you'll need something like a trencoat or suit to conceal Primary. However, you cannot run as fast with it, and you'll swim considerbly harder. Concealing weapons is vital if your in the presence of police, civillians, or some criminals.

Pretty standard list mate, except for the ACIW. Its bit like the Yank OCIW i think. I know the Steyr AUG (The weapon of which its based from and also in my sig) was in the Vice City PS2 files. Dont go searching in Gta3.img on your Vice City directory, it only exists on PS2. And no, I dont know how you acess it on PS2 either. I dont see how the ACIW could get in a GTA game, unless it was set in Oz or NZ. And then, the Steyr AUG would be included as well. And Steyr AUG already can have a M203...

BOOOOORING.

Otherwise, I knew you took ages to make it. And I respect you contributed to this forum. And I shouldnt critiscise people who put time into their posts or otherwise I get a bad rep on myself and I hurt that guys feelings...

In a way, considering that nothing in GTA is really that complicated. They sometimes have trouble with identifying weapons as it is due to trademark issues. That's why the MP5 is frequently referred to as something else (like "SMG").

yea that's true to which can make it hard but like they do with cars they can modify the name so it's close to the read name.

 

- Also the reason i added so many weapons is so you can do side missions to unlock them its like doing Brucies races or delivering the cars to his garage except you get nothing but money and with the money you got nothing to buy.

 

Also these are only guns i don't think it would take too much time making a few extra guns, the side missions its self could take longer but adding a good list of guns could make the game more exciting, especially if you get your hands on a brand new weapon you've never seen in a gta game and load 50 bullets in a random ped tounge.gif

 

Because after a while... shooting peds in the leg and watching them fall over isn't as fun as it was in the beginning because the weapons lack variety biggrin.gif

I don't think a FPS Grand Theft Auto would quite work. The idea isn't too bad, and maybe that could be an option when changing the character view, just like you can change the view of the vehicle so it seems as if you're in the car. But I don't think a GTA game where the only view possible is a FPS would quite grip me as much as the other GTA's did. There are, after all, dedicated, successful FPS's on the shelves, so why destroy GTA's whole persona?

oh and by the way, the Rail gun is very much real and with Rockstar creativity there could be a way to implement it into the game.

 

GTA 4 = New technology like phones and computers.

 

Next GTA = Advanced technology (not like sci fi crap) and weapons.
