amcycletrans
Now that Hillary Clinton is in a real position of power and influence, how do you think she will use this political position to change or alter the regulations over the gaming industry, particularily the ESRB rating system over "violent video games". We've already seen hers and Jack Thompson's over zealous behavior in the past regarding the way games are rated.
Mike Tequeli
It's not really a problem anymore I'd say. She's no longer in a legislative member of government, she won't be sponsoring any new insane bills, her job is mostly foreign policy now. It's a good thing for us, although I question her diplomatic abilities.
Doink
Absolutely nothing will happen. She only deals with foreign policies now, so I wouldn't worry about the gaming industry. EDIT: Hehe, Mike summed it up nicely.

voteneg
Her tirades for the most part called for stricter enforcement of game ratings sales to minors, and higher punishments to retailers who fail to adhere to the ESRB recommendations. In some cases she kinda suggested that if the ESRB didn't do a better job of rating games than she thought the government ought to. However that really is an empty threat to get them to get their act together. Simply put she advocated not selling mature games to minors (technically 16 and under.) Her criticism of GTA is born mostly out of misunderstanding of the game, the game industry, and gamers. You should also understand that the types of people who feed her this information are people like concerned parents groups and such. Who thinks Hillary has actually played GTA herself... nobody. Of course not. She was shown some sensationalist piece that played on the news or was forwarded to her from her staff. She sees video or hears of Carl Johnson killing a hooker with a bat and then going on a rampage and you expect her to come to what conclusion? That GTA is all roses? ...seriously. "You mean to tell me that you can do what?!?!?! and kids are playing this???" We gamers need to help our lawmakers understand videogames better, for the most part they are a different generation than us. For every video clip they see of CJ or Tommy or Niko shooting someone up, show them a video of your GTA character doing ambulance or fire missions, or better yet give them a synopsis of the story. Explain how the character goes on a crusade to end the drug trade through his neighborhood, or how Niko comes to the realization that revenge and killing won't fix or repair his past torments. GTA has some pretty redeeming aspects, as does the story in a lot of videogames... get that message across. In a lot of ways video games are only as depraved as the individuals who play them. You can't expect lawmakers to be understanding of the issue if you don't do your part to inform them. Let me ask a question. How many of you have actually written a letter to a lawmaker? Have you stated your case? No? Then you haven't done your job. Write an email everyday until you get a real response. As a side note this is one of the areas that i think Barack Obama is spot on in. He believes that kids should focus more on school and less on video games, and that parents should be more responsible for their childrens development and to stop using the tv as a babysitter. To be quite frank I think that if this were the case we wouldn't have so many little f*ckheads running around (emphasis being parental responsibility.) Stefan.
voteneg speaks the truth. The only real problem is that there are too many kids out there who spend 5 hours a day doing ntohing other than play video games. As for Hillary Clinton, she's not going to do anything. She'll be too pre-occupied with the problems in the Middle East to worry about GTA.
