questions about commandline tweaks

Recommended Posts

i just had a few questions about the settings in the game and commandline tweaks added

i made it so i could select high textures (wouldnt let me choose that b4, only medium)

well first heres my set up:

q6600 oc'd to 2.8

2gigs pc6400 (crucial ballistix)

windows xp sp3

8800 gt superclocked 512 fx card

my question is, now that i faked it to letting me choose high textures, am i actually getting them in game?

i run the game at 1680x1050, 60 mhz refresh rate

textures high

rendering highest

view distance 20-30 i mess around in that area

i did have the other 3 maxed out (100,100,16) but i was getting too much studdering

i now have those at half of their max

i added these to the commandline -nomemrestrict -availablevidmem 2.0 -norestrictions -percentvidmem 100

the game does look a bit better now, and with the detail, view etc set to half, i get between 18-60 fps (18 being outside in heavy traffic, peds, etc, 60 indoors)

i wish i could max out the view distance, but that really hits performance hard (im on latest nvidia drivers too fyi 181.20)

i was talkin to my tech bud that i wanted to upgrade my vid card, but he says it really isnt necessary right now. maybe when the gforce 3 series come then consider it.

game runs decent tho, i just wish the video editor had more functionality (like the battle director from bf series, that would be PIMP)

Anything written in the commandline.txt is forced on the software, so when you set a command for high texture settings in the commandline.txt, you get high textures even if the software doesn't want you to.

You can increase FPS by using the stickied post in the IV PC subforum page. It forces your preferred resolution without scaling the reflection settings. It may or may not increase performance, but what the heck. It won't hurt to try. happy.gif
