GTA IV Video Editor - 720/1080

I have a really good work computer that allows me to run the game at almost full specs, problem is my video editor on that computer never starts a render (at any resolution)... That's another story.

 

My home PC, which I run the game great at low specs 800x600, but I'm able to render in 1080 or 720 (most of the time).

 

That brings me to my question, why does my home pc that I record and edit clips at 800x600 allow me to render in HD and sometimes it doesn't?

 

These were all rendered after playing and capturing them at 800x600 low EVERYTHING (and they look great):

Right now, I'm only given the "Web" option, but other times I can render higher...

You can't render it in HD if you're not running in HD or higher resolution. You can't render 1280x720 video with 800x600 resolution. Did you always have that low resolution or did you change it recently to get higher framerate?

Well, you're not supposed to be able to render anything but web videos at such a low resolution. To render that size, you must have a resolution equal or greater than. So, when you "sometimes" can, you are at a higher resolution and must not realize it - because HD resolutions are disallowed (and impossible) at 800x600

I'm really familiar with screen resolutions, rendering, aspect ratios, the whole bit.

 

I don't want to come off as being ignorant, but I honestly rendered out those 3 videos I posted above while playing and capturing the clips at 800x600 low settings on everything. I can swear on my life to it.

 

Last night after editing a video I had the options of 720 or 1080, but after clicking 1080 and having it render out a few frames I had a memory leak/crash, then going back into the editor I was not given the 720/1080 options.

 

I realize this sounds bizarre, just wondering if anyone could think of any reason why I was able to do this in the first place (maybe that will lead to the solution....)

Hm... Do you use the "ultimate performance tweak"? Perhaps that would make the game bug out, as the game would be rendering everything @ 800x600 while in fact it is your native monitor resolution.

That's a good thought Neon25, I'm at work now...I'll post my "tweak" settings when I get home. I went through a few dozen tweaks not sure which one I settled with.

 

I know for a fact that I'm using the visualsetting.dat file tweak and I have the Alice "Trainer" installed. I'm not sure what I ended up keeping in my commandline.txt file...

 

I guess that could explain something... I shall investigate further and post my absolute settings.

 

I'm hoping to hear from someone else who is capable of rendering in 720 or >, while running/capturing the game at low settings.
