rubregg
Rubs: There's a outdoor gym at the beach, right? How about working out there and directly going to Katie and acquire her as a girlfriend? Will that work? Yes, you can use the outdoor gym from the start of the game - but working out once (until the max for the day is reached) is not enough, I've tried that. So I'm wondering how many in-game days will have to be passed to work out again, before Katie will give us her number.
zmoonchild
For acquiring Katie early: There is a trick to being able to workout more: it involves working out, then randomly running around outside of the gym area for about 30 seconds, then working out again, then repeating the process… I’ve been able to increase Carl’s Muscle percentage to more than 50% in less than a day by using that technique, sometimes as high as 75% in a single day. The trick is kind of random and works for me most of the time, but not always. You don’t just want to workout until the popup message appears stating “you worked out enough for today”, that’ll mean having to came back the next day. There’s also another way to increase sex appeal which is pretty obvious, but I’m not sure if I should give it away.
lazy34
I'm planning on attempting a twist on the End of the Line pistol challenge by trying it with only a silenced 9mm. Should be a little bit tougher since there's less mobility with the silenced 9mm. Edit: It was tough but I managed to do it. I started with a little over 400 rounds, so I really had to conserve ammo. The first parts were a breeze, just take cover and get the headshots. In the crack factory part I took advantage of the exploding barrels and continued to move from cover to cover while trying to conserve ammo. However, in the Lounge those shotgunners almost took me out http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v333/Cha...00-19-37-61.jpg I must've had 1 hp left. Big Smoke was fairly easy because his (and the Vago that spawns') aim is terrible, but he took up a lot of my bullets. http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v333/Cha...00-24-27-88.jpg Since I was fireproof I pretty much ran through the third floor and left the guys trying to extinguish fires alone, but after losing too much armor and hp I had to slow down, take cover again, and snipe headshots with the silenced 9mm. http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v333/Cha...00-32-36-01.jpg Thankfully, an armor pickup saved me, and I made it out with minimal ammo. rubregg
Thanks for that working-out-trick, Zoom, this was new to me. This other way to increase sex appeal, do you mean collecting all oysters? Or driving a sexy vehicle? @lazy34 Well done, congrats. I like the outfit too...
zmoonchild
This other way to increase sex appeal, do you mean collecting all oysters? Or driving a sexy vehicle? no...You can increase Sex Appeal because the tattoo parlors in both San Fierro and Las Venturas are open from the very beginning of the game; unlike the ones in Los Santos... and the tattoo parlor in SF is very close to Katie's meet-location. Also, I’ve only tried the workout-trick at the outdoor gym, so I don’t know if it works the other gyms, but that wouldn’t matter for this challenge anyway. Just one more thing about the workout-trick, I usually count the reps that I’m doing, and I never do more than 10 to 15 (on either of the two ways to increase the muscle)… the closer the reps get to 20, then there’s more of a chance that the message will pop up that says to “come back tomorrow; you’ve worked out enough for today”. Blizzard14
From starting a new game, can you complete up to at least level 12 on the Vigilante Mission before saving or doing any of the story missions, without getting wasted or busted? Haha, this one will be easy! I Allready have a game plan. Ill do it tomorrow though.
Zyo
Can you complete the storyline of San Andreas, but where you limit yourself to weapons you either purchase at Ammu-Nation, pick off a fallen ped/gangster/cop etc. or get from a pickup location only when a mission requires it? This first challenge I have done, which I interpret to mean completing the storyline without using weapon pickups. Not exactly sure how I would go about proving it but I know it is possible as I have removed all weapon pick-ups (including armor) through main.scm coding to make San Andreas harder. Which I am sure in itself will invalidate any claims I make simply on the grounds of using a non-standard game. But it can certainly be done. flicko
To make it clearer- -You can pick up weapons when they are given to you on specific missions -You can pick up dropped weapons from people you have killed whilst on a mission, and only then -You can pick up a weapon from a fallen pedestrian/gangster/cop, from seeing them in the street -You can purchase any weapon at ammu-nation -You can't cheat to get weapons -You can't use any random weapon pick-up locations scattered around San Andreas -You can't kill any pedestrian/gangsters/cop in order to pick up weapons This challenge is the easier of the two storyline challenges, so anybody who claims to have completed it, I shall take their word for it. I'll go ahead and update the table.
123robot
I've got a question. I had made ANOTHER new game. (Don't ask why.) I got to the Cleaning the Hood mission and noticed you did not have to pick up the bat from the dealer. (Ryder told me to, so I thought I did have to.) The challenge requires you to only use weapons that you HAVE to pick up. (Or that the mission automatically gives you.) I only used the bat once, which was when I was doing that mission. Do I have to start another game and the start the challenge again or simply just not use the bat?
Blizzard14
In My opinion, its allright, Continue. Picking up the bat was optional, even though Ryder told you to pick it.

By this- -You can pick up weapons when they are given to you on specific missions I mean when someone tells you to use a weapon on a mission, you can pick it up and use it. Some missions will force you to use weapons without you having to pick them up, so I obviously wasn't referring to that. Continue with the challenge. 123robot
Ok. Thank you EDIT: Done the rest of Ryder's missions. On the mission "Robbing Uncle Sam" I ran out of pistol ammo. The bat and the spray can obviously wasn't enough. The soliders have pistols and all I have is a bat and a spray can. So I used a car from outside to run them over, then I used my forklift because the other car was almost destroyed and I only had 1 box left AND Ryder was almost dead. But I still managed to do it and get away. Edited February 12, 2009 by 123robot
Blizzard14
Crap, my Game Plan(like most of them) has failed. My plan was to go to the Racing Events in LV and do the Heli Hell race and I will spawn with a Hunter. After that, I wouldve failed the challenge by leaving the Hunter at the Airport(where the Racing Events is at). After I failed,I wouldve gotten in the Hunter and head back to LS avoiding the Hunter Missiles. Then collect 2 bribes(1 is enough to take 2 stars of) and then trigger vigilant missions and wouldve completed lvl 12 with ease. Looks like Ill just have to do it the old fashioned way. Blizzard14
Yeah, pretty Much. I just went for it without any other thing, died in Level 10. Close, but not close enough. I'll keep trying though. Oh and, IF I do ever complete it, will i need to take a picture or something?Or just a small description of my Strategy? flicko
Oh and, IF I do ever complete it, will i need to take a picture or something?Or just a small description of my Strategy? Obviously a picture would help and be a better show of proof, but I have no objection to you simply describing your method. Providing it's not far-fetched, out of line in any way or just ridiculous, and seems pretty legitimate, I'm sure we'll all take your word for it. Blizzard14
Ok, just about to retry the challenge again. Edit: Amazingly, i got 283 secinds added to my time after finishing Lvl 3. Edit:CCCRRRRAAAAPPPP!!!!! AGAIN,SO CLOSE!! Died at Lvl 11. Some Vagos got in the way and joined in on the action. I Was just trying to blow up their car so the criminals jumped out of the burning car and there were a group of vagos in the area and since i was firing and they are a rival gang, the AI shot at me back even though i wasnt shooting at them and i had 4 criminals 2 police vehicles and about 3 vagos shooting all over the place and it got nasty after that.Died. I Though it was going to be pretty easy but it is quite a challenge. Edited February 17, 2009 by Blizzard14

lazy34
I've been trying to set the "How long can you survive with a five star (minimum) wanted level with three Grove Street members with you, without them dying?" challenge to 20 minutes, but some sort of misfortune always falls on me. Like the car flipping over and the homies not being able to get away. One time we got knocked off Missionary Hill and got to a "safe" spot with a shore under a cliff where the FBI ranchers drive into the water (danger of being crushed by them though). I managed to lure a few Coastguard boats while dodging the helicopter, but one of the homies got stuck on the back of one of the boats. He gave me no choice but to take that particular boat. I made it to the Jetmax spawn to the West of San Fierro, parked my Coastguard boat nearby and shot down a helicopter to give me some time. I then took the Jetmax and rammed the back of my Coastguard boat and freed my homie. But he drowned. I guess I got a little too far away from him and he got removed from the gang. All my attempts and all I have to show for it is this FBI agent getting badly pwn'd http://i39.tinypic.com/34r6jx2.jpg Edited February 18, 2009 by lazy34
GTA Phreak
If helicopters are allowed then I would stuff them into a Maverick, - fly over the restricted area to get the *'s and then find a nice bridge to hover under for 20 mins.
lazy34
If that works then there's no challenge in that. I could just get a 5 star wanted level with the homies at Wang Cars and wait for an hour, then use the pay and spray. But I'm trying to stay out in the open as much as possible. rubregg
Can you complete the storyline of San Andreas, but where you limit yourself to weapons you only get from a pickup location only when a mission requires it? I have a question for this one - am I allowed to pick up the weapons dropped by killed opponents during missions? I'm asking this question generally, and on top I have a specific example: In "Big Smoke", can I kill the chasing Ballas and pick up their machine gun? Same with the shotgun you could get from the pizza guy in "Ryder." Doing this challenge you will not get a gun until "Nines & AK's" when you get a nine from Emmet. I think you get a Micro-SMG for "OG Loc" but I can't remember for sure. I did that mission yesterday and had one when I got done, but I can't tell if I accidentally walked over one from one of the Vagos and picked it up. You also get an AK for "Reuniting the Families." "You tell me exactly what you want, and I'll explain to you very carefully why it cannot be."
