Can you do it...?

For this challenge, cacarla, am i allowed to go and get a hunter or any other helicopter and fly onto the roof? Or is that part of the challenge that is meant to be obvious? Im just curious because that is how i would do it, given those guidelines.

I can sense problems of a different kind - it's probably necessary to do some kind of modding to try this out. I'm thinking about the minimal SMG skill - most saves from that late in the storyline will probably have that stat raised significantly.

 

Nice joice on the SMG though - can't be used on the Jetpack. Which reminds me - is the Jetpack allowed at all?

Err, - I'm fairly confident that you can do all the required shooting in that mission using the fixed mount minigun? (provided you take out the soldier guarding it by other means?)

 

So if it's going to be any sort of challenge, - it should be without bringing any weapons at all.

I still think it would be fairly easy even without using a Hunter, Sea Sparrow, Hydra, Rustler etc.

I did it, and without using the mounted minigun at all.

 

I entered from the back with Mtbike / megahops...

 

...and went directly up here:

 

Killed the army guys up here and on the helipad. The Hunters only get triggered after I went off the bike. Fired lots of SMG rounds at the Hunters with no visible effect. Eventually I went back on the Mtbike and bunnyhopped down to where the mission normally starts. No guards are there at this point in the mission and I could enter the hall and get the health pickup, without anybody shooting at me. Kept on firing my SMG at the Hunters but in the end I wasn't sure if the Hunters were too far away for the SMG range. My next idea was to try and get the Hunters to drown themselves north of the Sherman Dam (as Police and News choppers do). I didn't get very far though before I heard a massive explosion behind me - the Hunters were gone and I don't know how. Flew into lamp posts perhaps, of the fence of the train tracks?

 

Anyway - back into the base, bottom route this time killing the few last guards from the bike, and that was it:

 

At this point I stopped the mission, I figure the challenge is not about the flying part. Here's the screenshot album with all of them.

cacarla’s challenge is pretty easy with a Shamal; here’s a video I made a while back demonstrating how to do the mission with only killing the guard on the rooftop only, and no one else; I only fired a handful of shots from the SMG.

If you watch the video, you’ll see that I really didn’t need to have body armor; I hardly got shot, and could have easily passed the mission without it.

I also used the handheld minigun instead of the mounted one because the mission takes away your minigun if you use the mounted one. The Hunters are unmanned, so I’m not sure if they actually counted as extra kills or not when they were destroyed.

 

 

 

Also, I like Phreak’s approach to this challenge; it’s very feasible and challenging.

@Rubregg: Fantastic job. Regarding the SMG skill, i just thought of keeping it low by not using that weapon at all until this mission. By doing this, the skill stays at minimum or at a low level. But, by downloading saves, it does have max. skills. So sorry about that error. Excellent job on the mt. bike. How did you manage those megahops? Really awesome . Also, no jet packs would be good . Regarding the flying part, it is not a challenge at all.

To complete the mission you need to fly but that's not a problem at all. A screenshot at the chopper would be excellent.

@GC: Coming to your question, yeah sorry for not answering the plane part, but, i think it would really be a challenge if you get into KACC by a car in a normal way( by letting the doors open for the patriot). Then, go past all the guards in the hall with the SMG and then going through the stairs and finally onto the roof .

 

@Phreak: I assumed that you would do the challenge the in a normal way without the planes. Hence, i kept the SMG as the only gun instead of having no weapons at all. Would you be able to go through the guards in the hall without any weapons? That would be awesome.

 

Sorry for not getting you here, but, how would you use the roof-mounted minigun to shoot down the guards?

yes, very possible... just fly in very fast, and bail out close enough so that a parachute isn't needed; that's what I did in that video.

 

 

I tried it only once and got shot down by the exterior defense missiles( like that of area 69).

In that video, you'll see that those missiles fired at me as well, but only after I entered the Leviathan. The underside of helipad surface kept the missiles from hitting the Leviathan at all.

You're right Zoom. I did realize that after watching the video.

 

But, it would be much harder( i guess) if you go through the entrance with a SMG and shoot down all the guards and then get to the leviathan. Hence, airways could be avoided here.

 

Also, remember that you cannot collect the health and armor pickup inside KACC in the hall. You have to complete it without any additional health pickup. After Rubregg post, i have changed my mind regarding SMG skill. You can have any skills on the gun. Finally, remember to shoot down the gun-ships by any means other than the roof-mounted minigun and the weapons mentioned in my earlier post. You may follow Rubregg's method(mysterious) of destroying the ships or your own method. Just don't use planes to destroy them.

I did a little follow-up and my plan worked. It is possible to destroy the 2 Hunters without firing a single shot at them. They'll drown themselves if you jump into the water at the reservoir north of the Sherman Dam (careful, even if officially "destroyed" and under water, they still fire at you).

 

 

So I redid the challenge, this time without taking the health pickup (or stopping at the vendor I passed, very tempting though). One megahop to enter the base, 2 more to get onto the helipad. Shot both guards on the helipad, triggered the Hunters, lured them into the desert and into the water, took the Skimmer back to the helipad and made my escape.

hey here's one... Get on the SF Tram without any flying vehicle including jetpacks and parachutes. But one of you will do it in a snap so... to make it harder...

 

Challenge: Get on top of the San Fierro Tram on a Freeway with a homie with you.

 

If any can do it. I'll be gobsmacked. and cookies... and my own reward or unimaginable proportions!

I don't think the tram passes through any freeways. The only wide road it goes through is the road of pier 69( the entire stretch) i guess. But, quite a challenge anyway.

You should add that you have to shot a person off the bike WHILE IT'S MOVING and get on it without a fall.

It's important, cause if you shot someone off a not-moving bike it won't fall.

Completed. Wasn't too difficult, only took 3 or so tries. Dubbing it the "Welcome Home" Challenge because it seems fitting.

The wanted level won't make a difference, because AT-400's aren't chased by Hydra's.
