Just got off the phone guys with the lead programmer thats been working on the patch. Nearlly ALL issues are fixed with sli support and they have implemented AA which is great news. Multiplayer dedicated server support with Punkbuster!!!! finally!. Game has been optimized to run on min spec pcs with 20-30 fps boost depending on your hardware.

 

Cant wait till feb! Patch weighs in around 178mb

Punkbuster would make this game worse. Punkbuster like kicks randomly and everytime you go into a server you have to turn your mods off / make your files legit. and that sounds like bs lol

It is no doubt punkbuster will make the game worse, and people still cheat around punkbuster. They just crack punkbuster. Give us real server support and we will just ban the cheaters. Simple as that, if you play ranked, well sorry boys, but ranked has cheaters everywhere.

Well, actually, I've seen companies do mis-types on version and/or patch numbers all the time. I work in quality assurance for various such companies and this is one of the main things I catch as part of release notes.

 

But ... that said ... according to what I posted, that support site says 1.0.2.0 is already here. I agree that it might not be a typo since, as I said, the support ticket has a date of 01/18/2009 -- just a couple of days ago. But that same ticket says that 1.0.2.0 can be downloaded now. And the issue that the ticket is bringing up is one that came about after the first patch.

 

Again: the support ticket says: "This issue is fixed in Title Update 1.0.2.0, so please make sure to download and install this update, either via the LIVE service, or by following th following link:" (Again, I added the bold.) That's clearly telling people to go to that link and download 1.0.2.0 right now.

 

Technically Rockstar probably feels they don't have to announce every small patch because if users are using the Live service, they'll get these updates automatically. Or maybe they did announce this somewhere and I just missed it. Or maybe whomever wrote the response to the support ticket had no clue what they were talking about. I don't know -- I can only go on what I read.

So the question is - where can I download the second patch??

Well, in the "maybe Rockstar typoed" and/or "maybe Rockstar is clueless" category, that same support ticket (which indicates 1.0.2.0 is ready) points to this link:

But if you go there, it sure looks to me like the file indicated is the same as the original patch file. The GTAIV_Patch.exe is dated as 12/12/2008. So either Rockstar quoted their own patch number wrong, the patch is not where they said it was, or the person who updated the ticket simply didn't respond accurately. (Given how I've seen Rockstar operate lately it's a bit of a toss-up.)

If I am in complete denial, your just the same. Chngdman you know many techs I have called before? The most common thing they say is "We are recreating the problem". I get a e-mail -> we are sorry we COULD NOT recreate the problem. Yes return the product. YES YES! I would love to say Rockstar will fix everything, but they can't even create their first patch WITHOUT CAUSING MORE PROBLEMS. So I am in denial? YES YES! That must mean I am.
