Multiplayer connection problems

So here's the problem. I can host my own game with no problems, but trying to connect to other games is well...futile. In custom game menu when i double click the server i want to connect i get one of these massages:

Could not connect to game session

Other players chose to kick you

You have been removed from game

Or i am thrown back to custom game menu.

Sometimes it even starts a totally new game (flattypuss...)

If i manage to connect to a game i usually get LAN to strict message few minutes into game.

As i said i have no problems hosting, but connecting to other games is very hard.

My specs:

Hardware

Microsoft Windows XP Professional

Service Pack 3

Video Adapter: NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GT

Video Driver version: 180.48

Audio Adapter: Realtek HD Audio output

Intel® Core2 Duo CPU E4500 @ 2.20GHz

Thank you for your support.

Check your firewall or somthing maybe the ports are blocking you from joining a game i don't know. Or it is because you got high ping.

Could be your ping and connection. Im not entirely sure. Check your ports not the execptions list.

Can you tell me how to check which ports should be opened?

P.S. I am from Slovenia, if that affects ping or something.

Open command prompt

type in “netstat -an” and it will show you the “listening” ports

well i found the page where on the XP screenshots, the option for UpNp SHOULD be, but it's not there...

to get to it, go to windows firewall and in the firewall section, click change settings and go to exceptions...

but like i said, it's not there =/

ok did a little looking around and network discovery is vista's version of UPnP.... which is already enabled on my computer and has been since day 1

You need your NAT open or you will get problems, because of the way it works...

* TCP 80

* UDP 88

* UDP 3074

* TCP 3074

* UDP 53

* TCP 53

If you have a router.... make sure it is setup correctly... you will find a UPnP on your router... *also check for firmware updates, or you might need to stick it in DMZ

It seems that I can only play Race. Today I joined a race with 23 people in it (Btw, it was seriously fun), but I can't join Bomb da Base, hangmans noose, etc. then it just creates a match.

Hi i'm new in this tread, I have exactly the same problem with GTA IV MP.

I tried to forward the given ports. (I used the Portforwarding Site: http://portforward.com/default.htm ).

I clicked on my router ( D-Link DI 624+), then there came an advertisement, I clicked on "Click here to skip this advertisement..."

After that, a page opened with alot of gametitles and other titles of programs. I went searching for any "GTA IV" or "Rockstar" title, but didn't found one. So I scrolled further and i

found "Xbox Live 360". So i clicked on this one. A page opened with the things I had to do to forward the ports I needed. Firstly I had to "Enter Static IP Address" is a small tekstbar.

I skipped this (because I didn't know how to do it.) I just entered all the ports I needed to enter in my router. But GTA IV MP still doesn't work. Still same problems. Like in

first post of this thread.

I also went to firewall and exeptions to make these ports so my firewall let them true.

Please HELP confused.gif I Have GTA IV already 3 month. I played gta IV singleplayer ever since. It's quiet boring now. (I don't want to mod my GTA IV, I don't want to make a mess of my

GTA IV files.

Thanks in advance!

I had the same problem and I fixed it. My problem was that I didnt open the right ports. I spent about a week searching which ports to open, and finally got this total list:

TCP 80 - 80

TCP 53 - 53

UDP 53 - 53

TCP 1096 - 1096

UDP 1096 - 1096

UDP 88 - 88

TCP 3074 - 3074

UDP 3074 - 3074

TCP 2074 - 2074

UDP 2074 - 2074

Open these babies, and in my case this did the trick. Good luck!

BTW: please reply if this also worked for you. Could help a lot of people I think, but so far I dont know if this fixes other people's problems too.

I've added these ports in my router. Today, I could join some servers. (Today i could join 1 server that had free mode, but it disconnected after my PC lost connection with

another player on that server or something. After that I also could join a race server. I could actualy race against 2 others (I won, I'm now 750 gta $ richer turn.gif . but the other

2 players left as soon as the race finished.)

I could join these servers but it still takes a lot of tries to finally join 1. so my problem is still not solved.
