Is it too late to demand a refund?

I bought GTA4 on launch day and I'm wondering if it is too late for me to return it for a refund. Does anyone know if I can legally demand a refund, or do I just have to rely on the mercy of the sales staff in Game? Any UK lawyers/law students on here?

If you're wondering, I've hardly played the game and I wasn't going to bother returning it, but I don't think R* deserve my buckolas.

You cannot return an item that has been already open... (PC video games)

Most stores won't take back a pc game once it is opened. Most you can hope for is taking it up with Rockstar support to see if they will reimburse you (unlikely to happen)...common sense really, don't see a need for any silly credentials personally.

Nope. There are laws to cover most purchases in the UK. I'm just trying to find out how it applies to software and how I should follow it up.

Opened or not, if a product turns out not to be fit for purpose you are entitled to a refund. The same applies if the seller makes claims which turn out to be untrue.

The need for credentials is because I'd appreciate the opinion of someone who actually knows what they're talking about (i.e. not you).

Well good luck to ya then...probably not going to happen, but go ahead and waste time/money/resources trying.

You seem to have the Silly credentials sewn up, btw.

So far there is nothing I've found that a store would have to take back a pc game, matter of fact the return policy for UK as far as I have found really doesn't cover software in any way, shape, or form...lot good this internet does you blokes if you don't even f*cking use it.

I do know how to use it: I ask an expert and hope I don't get interrupted by some clueless f*cking idiot.

Alternatively I could just read the Trade Descriptions Act or the Sale of Goods Act, but that doesn't sound like much fun, now does it?

You're still not helping.

What exactly are you getting out of this?

Just saying you are perfectly capable of reading it yourself and deciding if it can or does apply to the situation. Google is an awesome search engine and found it for me in a matter of seconds, however I think it will be a coinflip and completly dependent on whether or not the store wants to do a refund or store credit. Aside from that there are really few options for you.

The Horror Is Alive

The OP is an idiot. When he asks people for advice, he immediately demands proof and flames them. Asshole.

Thanks man. People like that need a good punch in the face, but I guess a taste of my razor sharp wit will have to suffice until technology catches up and lets me punch him in the face via the web.

I doubt you would get a refund if you waited more than a month to make up your mind.

So instead of starting topics like this where you'd be dumb to not know the outcome would be like this, you should just contact the retailer and see what they say. Nobody else is going to give you your money back so you might as well start there.

F*ck the retailer and f*ck you. I want to know my legal rights, not your worthless opinion. Jog on.

No. Reported because this thread is absolutely useless and it's not going anywhere because you're such an asshole. The sooner you can get that through your thick head, the better off you'll be.

It's becoming useless because of the idiot, f*ckhead flamers like you...biatch.

That's why I clearly asked for opinions from people who know what they're talking about.
