Omnia sunt Communia
This is the boxart for a fictional GTA sequel I created: Grand Theft Auto Joukyo. As you may be able to guess, Joukyo would be a imagining of Tokyo City. Each picture represents a part of gameplay I hope to include in the game (larger topic to come soon): Top Left Hand Corner: The mandatory helictoper, present on all GTA boxart since GTA III. Top Right Hand Corner: A group of Triads. They would be one of your enemies in GTA J. Left Hand, 2nd Row: Russian Mobster. They would be another gang you'd face off against. Left Hand, 3rd Row: Katana. New weapon. Right Hand, 2nd Row: Mandatory "attractive" woman, seen on all GTA boxart. Bottom Left Hand Corner: Stand-off between Japanese and Chinese mobsters. Bottom Right Hand Corner: Generic Yakuza member. Your thoughts?
Cronyne
I actually like this. Very, veeeery much. In criticism, the Russian guys face should show more. Edited January 20, 2009 by Cronyne
Omnia sunt Communia
In criticism, the Russian guys face should show more. I noticed that when I pasted the "Grand Theft Auto" logo on top. I'll go back and edit it in time for my actual topic.
QwertyAAA
The style is a bit off and the heli looks somewhat strange with the other pics. Otherwise, good job.
Lochie_old
A Yakuza feel would definitely be awesome, they are pretty ruthless after all. Good job Jacky,
Bates_GTA
I could see it happening, but with Chinatown out on the DS, i duno, just couldnt imagine two of the same sort of genre's. Maybe a Tokyo Drift style game, american guy getting sent over there for some reason & finding himself in trouble with Yakuza. EDIT: Nice Boxart aswel Edited January 22, 2009 by Bates_GTA
K^2
I don't like the name. I'm fine with a city portraying Tokyo, but Joukyo? Other than that, nice layout. Feels like something is missing though. A frame with some other vehicle, perhaps? Maybe a motorcycle? Prior to filing a bug against any of my code, please consider this response to common concerns. Omnia sunt Communia
I don't like the name. I'm fine with a city portraying Tokyo, but Joukyo? Tokyo means East Capital, in Japanese (To (East) Kyo (Capital). Joukyo means Imperial Capital (Jou (Imperial) Kyo (Capital). I thought it went together nicely. K^2
Yeah, but in English it sounds like Joke-yeeo. So I'd vote for a name change. Besides, within GTA universe, only the US cities have been given fictional names. In spirit of GTA London, I don't see why it should be anything other than GTA Tokyo. Mainland Marauder
I'm no expert on the Japanese language but I think the pronunciation is "jook-yo" or something like that rather than "joke-yo." A lot of Westerners will probably pronounce it to rhyme with "Tokyo" not knowing its true meaning. Hell, let them I say, though it would be unfortunate if the game gets poor reviews because all the lame puns will start. "You tell me exactly what you want, and I'll explain to you very carefully why it cannot be."
K^2
Nope. "Joo" would be spelled simply as じゅ. 上 is spelled as じょう. I'm not expert either, but I'm pretty sure it is pronounced as "jo-u", two syllables. Sounds pretty close to "jo" in "joke" when you sound it out. Also, prefix 上 doesn't even need to mean "Imperial". It can mean high, top, best, or something relating to government. It all depends on the context. If someone tried to write it as 上京 (compare to 東京 = Tokyo), I'd find it redundant, because capitol is already a place of government. Though, you might want to ask someone who actually speaks the language. I'm just trying to learn to read Kanji. Bul1etSp0nge
Left Hand, 2nd Row: Russian Mobster. They would be another gang you'd face off against. You should focus on his face it looks wierd how it is now. Otherwise awesome.
