Slamman
One of the questions in interviews I always look for is influences, they clearly show a band's or artist's appreciation of music that inspired them throughout their rise to famous status. It often shows their taste, if not the direction their music takes. I personally respect an artist when they're glowing over something that also touched my ear and soul. List some of the bands that are clearly influencial in modern music, but may not be so well known to most. Avoid Sabbath, Zeppelin, Beatles, The Who, and Stones. Try and offer up some other artists, even leaving out Elvis Presley and B.B King, Eddie Cochran, etc. Some of those artist clearly made an impact, Eric Clapton, Hendrix. Besides making a thread on MSG and the man, Michael Schenker, he clearly is a musician's musician, and UFO was a great hard rock act that people who admire rock music still respect, I feel they got the REAL cold shoulder from the press and public at large, with only marginal mension and radio playback nearly non-existant. Reading Classic Rock magazine and scanning some pics from my collect, a large UK story on the band Slade. Slade is not a phenom in the States, and to this day is only known for the Motley Crue and Quiet Riot covers and influence, I would say comes across in AC/DC's musical bloodline as well. Worth examining still, perhaps. The article is a bit dated, granted. Another article is on a number or Reissued albums on CD and Classic Rock is a UK magazine, so it's coverage is not nearly common knowledge in the US. One of the albums they point out is Patti Smith's Horses....being listed as different side of music even at the time of release, but a landmark album of sorts. In the sidebar, a photo of Patti naked clutching an Iggy Pop and the Stooges LP! That speaks volumes.

Slamman
I would say profoundly influencial in the metal panthoen, but they were also influenced by 70s acts, of course, Judas Priest and Iron Maiden without question, but it also bears repeating; Alice Cooper and KISS. Even in Don Felder's book of his life with the Eagles, he mentions the amazing success at the same time their first records circa 74 and 75, of Kiss' Alive. That album was a watershed for live albums, there was more then just the fact of how great a feedback between the band and the audience, but also the fact they were such a new band!
