RobMachado
Ok so I havent got into the whole overclocking thing, the only OC I do is to my GPU and thats it. So after platying GTA4 and seeing how lousy my system played it, I decided to use the Ntune feature (rough ovelclocking btw, took 20 minutes). I have to say that the game is running pretty well now, about 30+ fps average with textures medium and rendering at high. The resolution is @ 1280*1024. I only get light stuttering, but nothing like before. My question is, has anyone here used ntune before? Is it safe? or should i go back to my fatory settings just in case. UndeadDevil
OCing your GPU will offer NO PERFORMANCE GAIN You need to OC your CPU, you have simply experienced a placebo I have a 9600GT and GTA IV doesn't even get it toasty at 1680x1050 (Temps peak at 65c on GTA IV, UT3 however hits 75-80c after 20-30mins of playing)
reefer191
I used an 8800gtx for the last three years that runs at 70 c idle lol

That's how i got the improvement. Like 8fps all in all. So not bad.
RobMachado
Also I´ve been getting some lock ups while on Windows. Any idea what this could be? The GPU is at 56C normal and 60C under load, so its not the GPU. Thanks.

reefer191
lol prolly your cpu frying can u check ur cpu for temps i think u can do it with rivatuner u may be better off going back to default or lowering the overclock a bit

ikt
Decent cars today can withstand temperatures over 100 degrees celsius, but that's not healthy. But 90 and below is quite normal.

ExitiumMachina
OCing your GPU will offer NO PERFORMANCE GAINYou need to OC your CPU, you have simply experienced a placebo I have a 9600GT and GTA IV doesn't even get it toasty at 1680x1050 (Temps peak at 65c on GTA IV, UT3 however hits 75-80c after 20-30mins of playing) I noticed a slight fps jump by ocing my 9800GT, temp stays at roughly 58-62 while in game and at a solid 48-50 at idle. Still tweaking with RivaTuner to get a good balance...but I have seen a jump performance-wise by upping my coreclock among the other options. EDIT: Just noticed your lock-up, ocing your processer could be the reason your lock-ups are occuring. 56-60C isn't bad on a GFX card, but you have to keep an eye on your boards temps if you're ocing your processer. RivaTuner doesn't keep tabs on processer temps (at least that I can find, could be old version). http://www.almico.com/speedfan.php -Try this to see where your temps are. BorgDroneX
Could someone help me overclock my Intel® Core2 Duo CPU E6550 @ 2.33GHz ? I didnt find any tutorial on net,so if some could help, hit me on the private messeges,or just write here Thank you, Edgar. more info is needed really! does your motherboard use an Nvidia chipset? and are you using an Nvidia GFX card? if so google Ntune and download that. then go to your Nvidia control panel, under the performance tab select tune system and then select coarse tuning, this will do a series of tests for 20 mins after which it will auto overclock your CPU to overclock your GFX card you have to do it manually, just keep nudging the mhz bar slider across about 10mhz at a time and press the test button if it comes up pass your ok, if it comes up fail then take the slider back a little then save the setting has a profile. you will have to load the profile everytime you boot into windows
wishboneasher
Also I´ve been getting some lock ups while on Windows. Any idea what this could be? The GPU is at 56C normal and 60C under load, so its not the GPU. Thanks. Off topic, but this is more than likely caused by your processor overclock. If, like you say, you used software to overclock your processor, it may not be stable at that speed at its default voltage. You may need to adjust (increase) the processor's voltage in BIOS, or simply not use the overclocking software. Before you change anything in BIOS, make sure you read a guide, as overvolting can be dangerous to your computer's components.
