Is this really true people???will my intel quad6600 @2.4ghz with the ati radeon 4870 reach those fps????

Man i was really worried about my new system i just thought that the ati 4870 512mb has bad performance with gtaiv because the first day it was released many people were complaining having problems with ati radeon 4870 and GTAIV! But now im happy Thanks but for more proof if any other budies are having ati radeon 4870 512mb benchmarks just post them here!

benchmarks shows it on 2.4 but it isnot true.

Cpu is oc'ed to 3.0 ghz

benchmark is not show the true perfomance.

in game with high settings really hard with 512 mb video ram.

you can only play the game on medium settings. otherwise you cant see the texture after 10 minute...

and you shouldnt wait for patch beaceu of your healty...

As someone that tested many twicks and hardware (I will soon post a topic), I advice you to buy different hardware for GTA IV.

First thinking that GTA IV depends only on the CPU is a myth. The framerate depends on the CPU only when you don't have a VRAM memory bottleneck, the 512 MB of your GPU is enough just for 1280x1024 res in high textures, for 1920x1200 res with high textures you need more then 700 MB of VRAM.

Without the right amount of VRAM you will have bugs: "missing textures"/"slow loading texturs"/"flicking shadows" and others, to avoid bugs you should use the commandline which will cost drop of framerate.

I advice for GTA IV to buy GPU with min 600-700 MB, the "radeon 4850 1 GB " or "geforce 9800gtx+ 1 GB" is cheap and great.

The Q6600 2.4 GHZ is great, you can even OC it to 3.0 GHZ with stock fan.

Note: this is the best advice.

hey khalids, we have pretty similar systems except my Q6600 is overclocked to 3.1Ghz and my HD4870 is 1gb (although i doubt it matters on the settings im using)

heres my results:

Statistics

Average FPS: 50.01

Duration: 37.17 sec

CPU Usage: 63%

System memory usage: 47%

Video memory usage: 37%

Graphics Settings

Video Mode: 1680 x 1050 (60 Hz)

Video Adapter: ATI Radeon HD 4800 Series

Video Driver version: 6.14.10.6891

Audio Adapter: Realtek HD Audio output

Intel® Core2 Quad CPU Q6600 @ 2.40GHz

As for the crashing after a few minutes, this does happen to me, but ONLY when i have the texture quality above medium (hence why the test is set to medium) which is a shame because the game still runs smooth on the highest texture settings until crash. also know that the Q6600 is the bottleneck in our systems, so chances are the overclock would give me slightly better results

just as a follow up to my last post, since most people seem to be using view and detail settings on 100, here is what my system gets as a comparison;

Statistics

Average FPS: 45.36

Duration: 37.37 sec

CPU Usage: 65%

System memory usage: 48%

Video memory usage: 37%

Graphics Settings

Video Mode: 1680 x 1050 (60 Hz)

Texture Quality: Medium

Render Quality: Highest

View Distance: 100

Detail Distance: 100

but this does show how inaccurate the test is, if i was actually playing the game i would lose about 10-15FPS by increasing the view and detail distance to 100 ( on average on 30-30 settings i get 35-55 fps, around 25-45fps on 100-100)

edit: when i say 35-55fps i mean 35 as the lowest it reaches during gameplay such as shootoffs etc, while 55 is what it sits around while casually strolling the streets

while running around the city and causing sh*t storms (it's the region of Hide Park East (or what ever it's called, it's near the first safe house on the second island). While walking around I get around 44, but this depends on the area of town and weather.

Hey dude ..you with the "post some bench with a 4870"...the benchmark test in GTA iv is useless...

Look...if u have lets say...40 fps on that benchmark test...u will prolly have INGAME around 25-35 fps(this are the fps that ur game will run most of the time, ofc with some ups and downs)...

I have on that bench test like 64 fps or 63..but in game i have 60 fps only on the sreets around the ocean...when its raining in some parts of the town my fps goes down even to 30...in China Town dosent matter if is day/night i got around 30-35 fps...but most of the time i have 40-50 fps-if iam in a car...coz on foot i have 60 most of the time and dosent go under 40 fps-

So if someone have under 40 fps on that benchmark...the game runs like sh*t on their pc's...
