Mathuran K
when u click on Niko, it says Grand Theft Auto under his criminal record, obviously a joke or pun by Rockstar. Then, under Johny's name is says some other stuff and Grand Theft Auto as well?....
Furnace
Grand Theft Auto is defined as auto theft... (stealing a car). It's just a little detail. Niko's record of "GTA" might have been a little joke, you know Rockstar, but other than that you shouldn't look to far into it.
Wenis IV
Well in the lost and damned trailer they do talk about stealing bikes. Which would be grand theft auto.
AnotherDave
Grand theft auto is a common crime, the game series is named after that crime and Niko and Johnny are both criminals, so it hardly seems a huge leap for it to be on their criminal records in game. Also, I'd check up on the meaning of the word pun if I were you.
MC.
I'm pretty sure everyone has picked up on this already.

Mafioso86
I agree, kill the Jews and save the Labradors! eh... wha? Nice banner tho . Anyways, on topic... I think Niko, Johnny, and Huang Lee all have grand theft auto listed as a crime... and so does Luis Lopez... ofcourse I'm sure a ton of other characters have it listed... but maybe it was done intentionally. Mo4pheus
Just a lil tidbit for all you guys. Degrees of Grand Theft Many jurisdictions classify grand theft crimes by degrees which indicate the severity of the criminal act. The degree of grand theft is often predicated by the value amount of the property that was stolen. For example, in a given jurisdiction a fourth degree grand theft charge may involve a total $1,000 value of stolen property, whereas a first degree grand theft may involve stolen property valued at $10,000 or more. The value amount that is associated with each degree, or level of offense, is determined by state and local law and can vary significantly by location. Examples of Grand Theft There are many acts which can be considered grand theft. They include: Shoplifting - defined as taking property, goods, or services from a place of business - can be considered grand theft if the value of the stolen goods exceeds the specified dollar amount. Vehicle theft is also considered grand theft as the value of most motor vehicles exceeds the value limit ascribed to petty theft. The taking of a firearm is considered grand theft and may be punishable by harsher penalties than grand theft of other goods similarly valued. The laws for grand theft of a firearm are often harsher due to the type of property stolen rather than the value of the property. Here in GA, Grand Theft is the taking of any property with a value of over $600. It's different for each state. Getting back on topic - Anyone check to see if Niko actually has a record BEFORE he steals a car? Just wondering.
Omnia sunt Communia
Here is a list of all the characters charged with Grand Theft Auto, excluding Niko, Johnny and Lee: Jermaine Andrews (1997) Teddy Benavidez (2002) Adam Dimayev (2006) Joe "Tuna" DiLeo (1998) Joe Corrola (1993) Sammy Botino (1981) Frankie Gallo (1998) Oscar Gomez (2005) Jon Gravelli (1944) Brian Jeremy (1985) Luis Fernando Lopez (2001) Patrick "Packie" McReary (1997) Harvey Noto (1958) Jimmy "Peg" Pegerino (1973) Lenny Petrovic (2000) Lyle Rivas (1996) Terry Thorpe (1997) Willy Valerio 1998) Roy Zito (1990) Most of those characters either interact with Niko throughout the GTA IV storyline, are members of The Lost, or associates of Luis Fernando Lopez and The Comission. What year does it state for niko, johnny, and lee?
Derelict Frog
Check the other thread about DLC II. I would have to say the evidence is stacked towards Luis Fernando Lopez. http://www.gtaforums.com/index.php?showtopic=389951

~Nico~
O.k maybe a couple are a possibility but anyone that you as any protaganist HAVE to kill in order to progress in the story, is never going to ba a possible character cause i'm sure Rockstar wouldn't make you get killed by Niko at the end I'm sorry. Oh and if it were John Gravelli, than everyone can forget about worrying if Johnny will be too slow, I mean c'mon guys the man is hospitalized and has to breathe through an oxygen tank, o and examples of people that would never be a protaganist: Jimmy "Peg" Pegerino, Teddy Benavidez ,Joe "Tuna" DiLeo, Lyle Rivas, Lenny Petrovic just to name a couple, or like in the Peg's situation at the end and if you haven't beaten the game than sorry but if you have than you will know exactly what I mean. It's almost as if no one cares who the next dude will be even if it means naming off guys that look like they might have a little extra detail than others. And definitely not Packie cause of having to do a good amount of missions for him and the fact that we pretty much know everything about the Mcreary's says that there is no more to learn about them, unlike Johnny who we knew little about and the same with Luis cause they were both involved in some important story twisting missions, and just like how Rockstar said all the three stories will intertwine it's kinda obvious who it will NOT be. Also I had to re-write this a little cause I think it had a spoiler and I don't know how to use the spoiler tags so I changed it.
