Gorillaz - Plastic Beach

Recommended Posts

It's basically the two singles Stylo, On Melancholy Hill along with some side footage (already seen) narrated by Russel. This is good if you want a slight memory jog of the current story/events of the Gorillaz story. If like me, you've seen everything relating to Gorillaz up until now, therefore you won't find any new information.

That was pretty bad ass, watched the whole thing.

Thanks.

I kinda think the Gorillaz are a bit boring. They lack energy and it's hard to understand the lyrics. And it is likely that they only play pre-recorded effects when they perform live. And also, the cartoons are such a gimmick.

I had tickets to see the guys at the O2 Arena (London, obviously) in September just before going off to Uni, but now it's been moved to some time in November. I REALLY hope it's not a random week day. Missing Gorillaz for a lecture will be so sh*t sad.gif

@Brandon1992: Yeah, sorry, that is who I meant.

@kippers: Thanks for letting me know, I didn't' even know. With all the f*cking Emails I get from Ticketmaster & 02, they could have at least told me this.

November! Son of a b*tch.....

Anyway found out that the cheapest ticket for the Gorillaz show here is $86 sad.gif

Looks like I'll be buying off a scalper.

Quality as always. It took until halfway through the listen until I could really get a perspective on the record, and then I really got into it. Although I don't think it is album material, compared to anything on Plastic Beach at least. Things like this make it more and more plausible that a fourth album will be released. Here is some info from a recent article in Q Magazine:

- there's another mention of the recently-covered 'recording on tour' idea, setting up equipment at every venue so the musicians on the tour can record things when they feel like it. The result will be "some sort of Gorillaz album next year", or "something between Gorillaz and Democrazy" (Democrazy was Damon's album of recorded-on-tour demoes, released in 2003).

- there's 'about two albums' worth of leftovers from the Plastic Beach sessions pending completion' (though that has been known since the beginning of Phase 3)

- there's a 'separate project planned with Hewlett in the Congo scheduled for next summer'

- the John Dee opera that Jamie and Damon are working on will premiere at Manchester International Festival 2012, not 2011.

Aww...

Good for the Gorillaz...

Bad for my obscurity...

Surprisingly, not very many people know what CD I'm bumping when I've got Plastic Beach in.

The Gorillaz concert last night was brilliant. It started out with Little Dragon, and then went onto a De La Soul set. It was a good combination. It was about an hour in, and then the main set began. Songs were played from all 3 albums, including all the hits. Bobby Womack was even there, along with Kano, Bashy, Little Dragon, The Clash and De La Soul. The concert ended on Don't Get Lost In Heaven/Demon Days, which was brilliant live. I had some footage from the begging of the concert, but for some bizarre reason, when I move the files from my phone and onto the computer, there is no audio. So sorry for that. I did however get some goodies whilst there. A T-Shirt & 5 Posters:

You have to sign up for their Premium membership for around £25 (to download it), as they usually give exclusives and goodies to them. I think it will be available for download sometime later for regular users. Usually I use DownloadHelper for Firefox to download streaming media. But I updated to Firefox 4.08 Beta, which makes it incompatible. There's definitely alternatives out there, but I can't be bothered. I'll just wait until the physical release, at most.

I like it. It has a simplified sound with hints of Plastic Beach and Demon Dayz. As well as a more North American feel on some tracks.

I'm on Little Pink Plastic Bag and it definitely sounds dope so far. I would never have known about it if it wasn't for this topic. Shame I didn't see any publicity.

Figured this would be the place for a Gorillaz-related question...

There's a song I once listen to before and I'm pretty sure it was a Gorillaz song but I cant find the name for that song. The song has a dark feeling for the intro and the lyrics go something like "Spitting out the demons....." or something like that. Help me out please.
