I had to install my steam version because the R* installer cannot recognize Windows 7, or doesn't even know that 7000 comes after 6000 (release versions used with windows) Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

It does install and play fine I know i have done it with the retail version. The problem is it doesn't install the Visual C++ and games for windows files properly so you have to either install them after you do the main game install or install them before you do the main game install.
